SAVE YOUR MONEY, YOUR HAIR, AND YOUR TIME AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Hello, my name is Gabrielle. I visited The Salty Mane on July 19th, 2022, and received a hair coloring and hair extension service. I went into my appointment wanting to go darker and get hand-tied extensions. I showed photos to my hair stylist so she would know what I was looking for as a result of the service. She agreed to do my hair color as I showed her because I wanted to go back to my natural color with a money piece in the front, and when we got into the topic of extensions, she suggested I get KTip extensions rather than Hand Tied. She said I should get KTip extensions because I have thinner hair, and they would blend more seamlessly. I thought I should consider her professional opinion because I did not have much knowledge of these extensions. Since she is a professional hair stylist, I assumed she was doing what was best for my hair type. In my appointment, she told me that the extensions would last three months, and I asked her what the best things were for me to buy to maintain my extensions for as long as possible. She suggested I purchase a clarifying shampoo, so I did once I left my appointment. However, instead of dying my hair to match the picture and description I gave her, she added blonde to it and added blonde extensions and dark when I overall wanted darker hair. To make my hair darker, the blonde should not have been added to it. However, I still paid for my services and continued with my day. Since I was still unhappy with the color of my hair, I direct messaged her on Instagram on August 5th, 2022, since that's how we were communicating, asking how much it would be to go darker. But, I never received a response from her. Four weeks passed, and my extensions were falling out of my hair and were extremely matted at the root. On September 2nd, 2022, I contacted The Salty Mane by phone to let them know what was going on and that I overall was unhappy because my hair color did not come out as I expected. My extensions were falling out and matted, and I was very disappointed because my hair stylist recommended I get these specific extensions. After all, she said they were "best for my hair type." After speaking on the phone with them once, I felt like they brushed off my situation, so later in the day, I called them back because they told me that my hair stylist was going to reach out to me, and she hadn't. After I called them again, the front desk receptionist informed me that they weren't trying to brush me off and they were going to fix this issue. But, she couldn't give professional advice, and I had to talk to the stylist. These conversations happened early that morning, and it wasn't until 4:07 pm on the 2nd when the hair stylist reached out to me via direct message on Instagram. I told her that several of my extensions were halfway down my hair and falling out and that I wanted my hair to be darker than the color I received, and the extensions were matted at the root. She replied, letting me know that the Kips start to slide down and out of your hair which she never informed me of at the appointment. I replied and let her know that I was disappointed because it had only been six weeks since I got my hair done, and they were already coming out when she told me they would last three months. She responded and said they "only last like nine weeks." She then asked what she could do to fix it, and I told her that I wanted my whole head to be my natural hair color with a money piece and a few highlights throughout but I overall wanted it to be dark with no blonde at the ends. Then I asked her what we could do about the extensions. She insisted that putting more k tips into my hair wouldn't work because they would slide out. After all, my hair texture is "oily" and not fit for these extensions. But the salon has a two-week policy to fix hair. When I initially texted her on August 5th about my hair color not being what I wanted and wanting to get it darker, she never replied. This was in the two weeks period, and I told her that.
Furthermore, she didn't know the salon policy and told me the owner told her they have a seven-day policy for fixing hair. However, my extensions didn't start falling out until the beginning of the six-week mark, so how was I supposed to know I would be extremely unhappy with them within the "salon seven-day period." She also told me that even with the clarifying shampoo she suggested using to maintain the extensions, my hair was too oil-based for the extensions. As well as she said the extensions need to be removed at the 10-12 weeks mark when she initially told me these extensions last three months. At this point, I decided that it wasn't worth me going back to her to get removed since I had such as awful experience and spent so much money. So, I went elsewhere to get them removed, which took two hours. These extensions didn't release with the keratin bond remover on their own and is damaged. read more
