The Salty Caper was just okay for me, nothing outstanding. I ordered carry-out, so maybe eating there and having the pizza fresh out of the oven would make a difference. The crust is very thin and crunchy, but it seemed to lack flavor in some way that I couldn't exactly pinpoint. It felt like it was missing something. That said, it wasn't bad, it was definitely edible, but I've had better pizzas elsewhere. I'd consider dining in next time to see if the experience improves. It seems like a place worth giving another chance.

This is the best pizza in Salisbury so that's a plus but Salisbury is a limited town with limited tastes. I would consider this equivalent to Mellow Mushroom in a larger town. It's tasty and has good beer. The pizza has a similar profile although it's a little thinner. They don't have any gluten free options which is a disappointment these days. The food is good and the service is friendly. They do bar service which I normally enjoy, however they don't seem equipped to handle a busy day. Overall the pizza and beer is good, not great. It's a popular place though, so perhaps I'm just not the right audience. I would not discourage you from trying it.

All ordering is done at the counter when you walk in. The hanging menu board is easy to read and see everything they offer. Once you order, you receive a number for your table and cups to get soda (Cheerwine & Coke products) at the machine. Pick a table and wait until your food arrives. Easy peasy. Pizzas are nice and thin, with that crust crunch that is awesome. The marinara sauce isn't overpowering and compliments the other toppings. We didn't order extra cheese on our pizzas but we both had nice cheese pulls on our slices. Everything is nice and clean and the ambiance is welcoming.

So, this is our dinner choice for tonight. My boyfriend and I decided to give this place a try. When we walked in, we were greeted by a counter in front of the menu. Everyone was very friendly, and location is centrally situated in downtown Salisbury, North Carolina. Parking was easily accessible. Inside, the bar area was relaxing, comfortable, and very spacious. The walls were adorned with knickknacks and various pictures. There was even a fountain where you could self-serve your drinks, ensuring a sanitary environment. And I noticed Fresh wood logs were available for burning. The pizza selection ranged from personal to medium and large sizes. They also offered beer and wine options. With over 25 different toppings to choose from, I ordered a personal pan pizza, which was about 8 inches in diameter, with a pesto base. I added bacon, pepperoni, and Canadian bacon as my toppings. My boyfriend went with double pepperoni and bacon. In all the food was amazingly good we took it home to enjoy as we watched TV definitely we would come back.

life is better with Salty Caper and worse since the western location shuttered - rumor has it there are a few loyalists who will make the journey for the best pizza Mooresville no longer has :-( on the plus side this spot has more than doubled in size since last I've been in: the whole left side is mostly the same as it ever was but now the right side has more seating inside and out front and back. a pizza would have been too much today so just an Spinach Classic calzone and a pint of some mexican draft. nice and resty as I sipped at my beer, the light overhead easing my weary mind until the guy showed up with a platter of feed plus two pots of the red for contrast; big puffed out shells lightly browned and visually appealing. bummer thing about calzone is you're buying a lot of air along with the deliciousness inside... good thing is you get spinaches along with the mozzarella and ricotta wrapped in freshly toasted bread so it all works out.

There is no decent pizza in the area (much of it compares to cardboard with tasteless white and red goo atop).

The Deets: During a visit to Salisbury during The Cheerwine Festival, we stopped to one of the sample tables in front of Bottle & Can and after my friends enjoyed some of the samples we decided to step inside to see what this bottle shop/bar was all about. Honestly, The Cheerwine Festival can get way too "people-y" and we had wanted some downtime from the long lines and crowds. We found just that oasis in Bottle & Can. We sat down at the bar and were delivered great service and conversation during our visit there. They had a great selection of draft beers/beverages as well as some good selections in the coolers to enjoy also. I found an Untitled Art Chocolate Dark Brew NA beer in the cooler that hit the spot perfectly for me and I had a couple while enjoying the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere of this bottle shop. They even had some snacks available for purchase such as popcorn, Lance cracker snacks, etc. Great staff, great atmosphere, and great beverage selection made Bottle & Can Salisbury a great find...very enjoyable visit!

We love to eat out and we chose to eat here for my birthday this year…read more I sent a letter to the restaurant a week ago. This is an edited version. First impression: We were not automatically offered a table inside or out but were told "Follow me" to the outside table. Please see the photo. Does this look like a nice setup for an almost $300 meal? The table was wobbly. The paint on the wall was peeling. Maybe they should hire an artist to decorate that blank wall. The inside is very dark. First course: Oysters. Sauce delicious: BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH TINY OYSTERS. Barely a blip in your mouth, 1/4"?? These are on the menu also as charred? Huh? Do they have different oysters for that? Nothing would be left. Main course: Branzino and asparagus. $52. Very nice. But (and I just had to look back at the menu on line to see what this was), the charred radish was so hard you could hardly poke a fork into it, inedible. And I was not aware of a single fava bean as advertised on the menu. Swordfish special: $52. Slightly overcooked. Blackened carrots rock hard, inedible. Whoever is in charge of vegetables needs to taste before sending out. While we were eating the fish, the server placed two steak knives on the table. Huh? Dessert: Dubai chocolate eclair sounded great. Maybe bought at Costco or Sams??? Two arrived on a plate with absolutely no presentation. One with a squiggle of chocolate underneath would have been better. Absolutely no pistachio flavor and VERY COLD. Should be room temperature. Did they come out of the fridge or freezer? Perhaps at room temperature flavor would have been more obvious. It was nice that when I had mentioned dark instead of milk chocolate the kitchen used dark. Table not cleared for dessert. Steak knives still there. Irish coffee: there is more to Irish coffee than adding whisky to a lukewarm cup of coffee and asking if I wanted cream after coffee was delivered. I enclosed the recipe and photo in my letter. Wine: wine list fairly priced. Our server did not know anything about the Cotes de Rhone we questioned but brought the bottle for us to have a look at. As vineyard and winery owners we grew viognier, this is why we were interested in this particular bottle. The server took our photo and I mentioned it was my birthday. In many cases this would be referred to the kitchen. Nothing special ensued. The well dressed owner (Doreen) walked past our table a number of times (sometimes carrying used dishes or glasses) without even glancing at us. I guessed she was the owner and spoke up. A nod and hello would have been nice. We came here with an open mind prepared to spend a large sum on a birthday dinner. Read the captions under the pictures.
