One of my favorite restaurants on the island! Excellent and very tasty food and drink options…read more Always a couple of excellent vegetarian or gluten free options. Cocktails are beautifully presented, esp recommend the lemon drop martini. It's in a converted Ponderosa Steak House location so that's a little weird, but they've upgraded it as well as possible. Store on left side of cafe also has nice gift options and outstanding choices of flavored olive oils and vinegars.

We sat at the bar but learned the Tuesday special was a flight of three bartender choice wines 2 oz pours for $15. Evidently the Wine tasting thing was not current. We've seen many restaurants don't update their web site so it's always a gamble when you show up. Not sure if it was an open table thing or the restaurant. Either way we enjoy wine so my wife ordered a red flight and I ordered a $6 happy hour Italian Pinot Noir. The Pinot was fine and decent pour and my wife sampled the flight. One of the wines was a little off and we both thought it may have soured. She mentioned it to the bartender and he shrugged it off and said it wasn't an old bottle. Mentioned it again and no big deal. Might have been nice to at least offer something else. I'd recommend ordering a glass of what you like rather than waste the $15. For dinner I wanted to try the seared pork ribeye but they were out of stock so I settled for the short rib sandwich on ciabatta bread. My wife ordered the beet and goat cheese salad which she enjoyed and thought was fine. The short rib sandwich was tasty enough but the bread was soft like it came out of a plastic bag. I was hoping for a better quality bread which is important for a sandwich. It wasn't something I would order again. Overall it's a really quaint place with isles of olive oil and items to purchase but the experience was a 2.0 and the food average 3.0 at best. I really expected a bit more especially from the look and feel of the place. Not sure I could get around to wanting to go back to try anything else on the menu. Bartender was nice but overall just not a good experience after a long day of work. I feel bad to leave an unsatisfactory score but I upped my 2.0 to 3.0 as ratings are important and it's probably at least a 3.0.

Who was informative, attentive & knowledgeable about the menu and expressed his favorites. My wife & I had reservations for Valentine's Day dinner & as I mentioned earlier, Kyle was our server who did an excellent job! He recommended the Flank Steak empanada & Spinach empanada as well as the Caprese' salad to start the meal. All were awesome! We also had some adult beverages. My wife had a glass of Riesling & I had a vodka tonic with twist of lime. The vodka provided was Kettle One. For the entrees, I had the Flank Steak (medium) with roasted veggies. Steak was done perfectly and veggies were cooked with a little firmness, The chimichurri sauce & herb salt with the Flank Steak was a great addition to the dish. My wife had the Pear & Gorgonzola Sacchetti which was a bit savory & sweet. The presentation was very nice and would say the pasta is like a tortellini. Excellent! To close out the meal, I had another Vodka tonic w-lime & my wife has the Del Sur Ole' Fashion w/Bulleit Bourbon. Both cocktails were spot on! This will be a spot I will frequent more often than other establishments I have frequented since moving to SSI 2 1/2 years ago. If you have never been, you need to put it on your dining wish list! Great job for making this Valentine's Day special!

After finishing a holiday tour in one of the classic motor cars with family, we stayed behind briefly to grab a few sweets before closing. We ordered a small, straightforward purchase, totaling $53 after a $5 tip: * 2 Snowman Nutter Butters * 1 Giant Buckeye * 2 Reindeer Rods * 0.25 lb chocolate fudge (pre-cut square) * 2 Ribbon Candy (3 oz) * 1 Mini Buckeyes bag Despite the small order and the fact that we were polite and efficient, the customer service was shockingly bad. From the start, the employee rolled her eyes when I began ordering. She cut me off and said, "No, just walk over here with me." With every single item, she sighed, huffed, rolled her eyes, and asked "Anything else?" with increasing irritation--as if ordering candy in a candy store was an unreasonable burden. The worst moment came when I asked for one piece of chocolate fudge. Since the fudge was already pre-cut, I didn't know your internal terminology. Instead of simply clarifying, I was met with a sarcastic "One square or what?" Yes--one square. One piece. One item. That shouldn't be a problem. The sweets themselves were very good. Unfortunately, the customer service completely ruined the experience. What's most disappointing is that I already submitted this feedback through your receipt-based survey system and invited management to contact me. No one ever did. That tells me this behavior is either accepted or ignored. I love Jekyll Island and visit often. Sadly, I will never return to this store--not even to stand under the awning to get out of the rain. Great candy doesn't excuse treating paying customers like they're in the way.
