Unexpected Stress and Inconsistent Service If you're…read morelooking for a service that adds stress, involves mystery pricing, and includes last-minute scheduling changes, this is the place for you. While the final hair and makeup services were high quality and ultimately what my fiancée loved, the journey to get there with the owner, Rachel, was incredibly difficult and unprofessional. Inconsistent Pricing and Required Services * Initial Pricing & Contract: I initially contacted the owner, Rachel, on 8/26 for hair and makeup pricing for an event. After agreeing on a price, she learned the services were for a bride (for a very small, family-only wedding with a total of 7 guests) and suggested a trial run. She excepted our explanation that it's a simple wedding and her services were meant to relieve stress following a family loss, and she initially agreed to proceed without a trial and I signed the contract. * Mandatory Trial Run: On 9/25, Rachel suddenly insisted the trial run was REQUIRED at a cost of $275, stating she would not move forward without it. This was odd since she already knew the services were for a bride when I signed the contract. The wedding contract itself later stated a trial run was "highly recommended," not required. * Payment and Threat of Price Increase: She demanded an additional $275 upfront via Venmo. When I asked if the initial $275 non-refundable deposit for the main service could cover the trial run and then I could pay in full on the trail day, her response was alarming. She stated that if I did that, she could no longer honor the original price for the wedding day and would instead determine a new, open-ended price after the trial. She also suddenly added a $275 travel fee to this option. She suggested my "push back" was a "BIG RED FLAG," pressuring me to pay the additional $275 and sign a new contract by the next day, or forfeit the original deposit. I reluctantly paid an extra $275 on 9/29 just to move forward. Unprofessional Communication and Scheduling * Ignoring Communication Preferences: I clearly asked Rachel to contact me for all scheduling and money matters to spare my fiancée from stress. However, Rachel repeatedly contacted my fiancée about money and scheduling throughout this process. * Last-Minute Schedule Change: On Thursday, 10/23, at 8:15 am--just over 24 hours before the agreed-upon 10:30 am Friday trial appointment--Rachel messaged my fiancée to say she was no longer available at 10:30 am and could only do 12:00 pm or 1:00 pm. After my fiancée communicated our family arrival conflicts, she only offered 1:00 pm, which was a 2.5-hour delay that significantly cut into my fiancée's limited pre-wedding family time. This felt spiteful, given our earlier disagreement about her process. * Boundary Issues: I found her communication style to be "odd," with texts coming as late as 7:00 or 8:00 pm and on the weekend, but then she would state she was "spending time with my family" and this was "after hours" when I replied. Conclusion Ultimately, the makeup and hair was excellent. However, the overall experience was severely damaged by the owner's inconsistent pricing, aggressive demand for a "required" service that wasn't contractually mandated, lack of professionalism regarding communication boundaries, and a disrespectful, last-minute schedule change that negatively impacted our family time. The stressful process and near-doubling of the quoted price made the experience far from the stress-reliever it was intended to be.

I've been going for about a year or so and have recommended about a dozen friends, men and women and have not had a single person do anything but rave. And, she is reasonable. A friend who just moved to the area from Beverly Hills (yes, I know), who was used to paying up to $200bux for a cut, is now paying $35.00 for "just as good a cut". My wedding is in 2 weeks and now I am having to stress last minute to find a hair AND makeup stylist that is available on my date. It's literally impossible. It's very clear that the company had to of known they were filing for bankruptcy within this month, yet continued to book services and accept payments from people booking for future events. It is shocking to me how a company could so easily take advantage of people and is now causing multiple brides extra stress to find a new service provider for their wedding, with little to no time to do so. I will definitely be contacting the Better Business Bureau.

Dreamcatcher Artistry - Leah doing the finishing touches of my makeup

Leah from Dreamcatcher did my makeup for a wedding. My summary is a lack of professionalism. I…read moredon't know if she was having an off day, but here is what happened: First, she used a stale / moldy / expired airbrush makeup bottle. It had clearly been past its prime, just from the smell alone, and also had separated on my face. I pointed out the smell. She refused to acknowledge that there was a possibility the makeup had gone bad for some time, and when she finally agreed (and only because her other makeup artist said she could smell the airbrush makeup from across the room), she did not remove the rancid makeup, but instead layered more things on top of it. Instead of owning the issue and fixing it, she doubled down, wasted time, and didn't correct her mistake. Next, my lashes were on entirely crooked. My eyeliner was also crooked and mismatched (one wing pointed up and one wing pointed down). I had asked for winged eyeliner, and I understand that not every person knows how to do winged eyeliner. However, if you are a makeup artist and can't do winged eyeliner, you should probably tell your client that so they can choose something else. I had to fix these myself afterwards. She also added a bunch of wax to my eyebrows which left a lot of residue and visible clumps. Then, she offered to redo my makeup with my own products. Obviously, we were now short on time due to the rancid makeup fiasco. A very cursory and patchy application of my own foundation that was patchy and streaky followed. I had to redo the entire thing after she left. She came back the next day and did better - but I also didn't ask for winged eyeliner and avoided the airbrush foundation. The foundation application (of my own foundation) was still streaky and unblended. My guess is that Leah is not able to do makeup well on clients with darker skin because she wasn't able to color match correctly for different skin tones and undertones, and the problems just flowed from there. Her instagram and website also tells the same story. My experience with Leah also made me feel bad, not just because of the makeup issues but because of her attitude. It felt like she was blaming me for her shortcomings, and that I had to apologize to her for not liking the disaster she put on my face. This review is specific to Leah, and not any of the other artists that she employs or contracts out with. They were professional and delivered excellent work.

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting and working with Jana to do hair and makeup for my wedding…read more From the get-go, Jana welcomed me with open arms and made me feel like we'd known each other forever. She is incredibly personable and just a kind human being. She is not someone who is going to push you into something you are not comfortable with, and she's very open and communicative. Her experience shows in her ability to turn the inspiration photos to real life. I opted to do the hair/makeup trial, which I very much recommend. Not only will you get the chance to experience what it's like to worth with Jana, but it'll help steer your vision if you're not sure where to start. As someone who does not wear makeup or do my hair in my everyday life, this was pretty key to figuring out the look I was going for. I ended up changing the hairstyle completely from the trial vs the wedding day (I brought inspiration photos for each look) and Jana was absolutely game for it all. We both ended up loving how my hair looked the day of the wedding, and it framed my face in a more flattering way. Also, I absolutely loved how my makeup turned out. I still looked like me, but just enhanced. She blended different colors to customize and match my skin tone, and also custom blended the lip color shade. The makeup also felt really light and didn't appear to be caked on, AND it lasted to the end of the evening. My mother-in-law also had similar compliments regarding the lightness of the makeup. Jana brought her colleague Kathleen to do the hair/makeup for my mother-in-law and makeup for my mom. Kathleen brought the same easy going energy, and it was just a fun gab fest in the getting ready room. Jana also took a lot of pictures during the process for the trial, and also the day of the wedding, and sent them over the next day (She would have airdropped it, but I don't have an iphone). So I had some getting ready photos of my special day immediately, instead of having to wait for the professional photos to come back. I cannot say enough nice things about the experience and Jana made the process stress free.
