Stopped in on Mother's Day 2026 and bought a few amazing smelling items! What started as a simple product demonstration quickly turned into relentless, high-pressure selling. After I repeatedly stated that I did not have the budget or funds for the purchase, they continued to push and refused to take "no" for an answer. What is most disturbing is how they appear to target elderly customers and vulnerable individuals, pressuring them until they feel overwhelmed or intimidated. This is not customer service -- it is manipulation. No one should feel cornered or coerced into spending money, especially on overpriced products. Howdy folks. How's all of my fellow Yelpers doing? Well, I hope ya all are in the mood for feeling clean because today we are heading to the cleanest shop in Solvang. I'm talking about Skinderella. And not Cinderella. But Skindellera. Catchy huh? So strap on your safety belts and put your helmets on because this ship is about to blast off. Now recently your's truly Nasty Nathanial, and my fellow auditing partner Matthew The King, decided to head into the city of Solvang to conduct some First Amendment Audits of the various businesses in town and see if they respect our constitutionally protected right to take photos and video in public. One of those shops was the place I'm writing this review about. I'm talking about Skinderella. Our experience at Skinderella started out when Matthew and I noticed what we thought were pastries on display by the storefront window. Shortly after we were greeted outside the shop by a handsome young man handing out business cards. I'll call him Mr. Handsome. Our conversation started off by me telling him how handsome he was(is). No surprise there. It continued with my inviting him to join me for a drink. Again, no surprise there. But once we got past the intimate introductions I would come to learn that what I originally thought were pastries were actually soaps. Yes that's right. I guess I won't be sinking my teeth into these treats unless I want soap in my mouth. After some initial curiosity by Mr. Handsome and staff, we were invited inside to take a look at all the soaps they had up on display throughout the shop. But these are not just any ordinary soaps. These are custom handmade soaps that are individually themed. Yes that's right. No one bar of soap here is the same. I saw soaps that looked like everything from cupcakes to pop cycles to even Liberace's piano. Liberace's piano? WTF! Well, maybe that's an exaggeration. But I think you get the idea. All of these individual bars of soap were uniquely handcrafted to a specific theme which I thought was really groovy. I would end up going with a desert themed bar of soap with a cactus on top. I can dig it. Can you dig it? Something I want to also point out is how friendly and professional the staff at Skinderella were. They were so welcoming and receptive to our filming. It was as if they wanted us to come inside and film their store. I mean why not? Free advertising for their business. Why don't more businesses have this same attitude? I can think of another Solvang shop nearby that could learn a thing or two from Skinderella. Well, I guess that I am going to wrap this review up by saying that is you are into hygiene and want to experience an array of cleanliness with an artistic touch, I suggest that you head over to Skinderella in Solvang. Also, if you enjoy being in the company of beautiful men like I do, this is also the place for you. Wink, wink. He has you sit on a chair and applies an eye cream with his unwashed finger to your undereye area and tries to sell you this expensive product.. over $300.. he is a true salesman... very pushy... but I said no thank you and had to make a few excuses to just leave! Here is my story.. It was a nice day out and there were people walking around the Solvang shopping area. The plan was to walk around with my wife, check out stores, and spend some money. Side note: I parked at the corner of the street where Skinderella is (close by) but I did not know this at the time. Anyway, I parked my car and walked to the sidewalk and joined all the other people just walking around. I notice there was a lady standing outside this one particular store(Skinderella). I saw and heard her greet the people right in front of us. Then it was "our turn"....nothing.... Then I hear the same lady again greeting the people behind us. Strange....but I didn't think much of it. I continued my day visiting stores and we decided we wanted a snack. We remembered seeing a bakery past our car at the other side of the area. So we started heading over the other way. On our way back, there was no one in front of us, our side of the sidewalk was kind of empty, and this time another person was outside the store(Skinderella). Ok, here we go - someone different - maybe they will greet us this time. Side note: Remember when you were a kid, when you used to hold your breath when going over a bridge (if you know, you know). That was basically how I felt walking by this store a second time. We walked by......nothing..... Again? Huh? Why? How? there's literally no one but us! Now I'm not gonna lie, I started to get a little upset. Same store, same result but this time with two different employees. AINT..NO..WAY.. We continued to go to the bakery and got ourselves a snack. By then we were done walking and decided to head back to our Hotel. Side note: Remember, I pretty much parked right in front of Skinderella. We have to slightly walk past it before turning into the street to get into our car. If you are still reading this, you know what I'm thinking. Last chance... One more shot... AINT..NO..WAY.. At this point, I told my wife that if someone is out in front of that store (Skinderella), they are not going to greet us and I think I finished my comment by telling her "watch this". Famous last words right? So here it was, one more chance, one more go, one more opportunity. I know the suspense is killing you. It's even making me feel some type of way typing this out. Anyway, we are walking back to our car. I see someone in front of the Skinderella. (Hold breath over bridge moment) We walk by..... N O T H I N G - A B S O L U T E L Y , N O T H I NG I couldn't believe it-- because at this point it was just a game... but I was winning this game as my predictions were correct.... but its a game you don't want to keep winning at.... SKINDERELLA, your store looked cool and my wife was interested. Why did you have to do us like that? Your silence and judgmental behavior could have been avoided with a simple "Hello". I know, crazy right?! To top it off, I come here on yelp out of curiosity and I see other reviews saying the same thing. Sadly, I'm not shocked that others felt this same way. My sister visited this shop and received great service until they found out that she didn't have any extra spending money. Immediately their entire personalities changed and she was completely ignored. My guess is that since this is located in a very touristy area, they consider customers disposable because chances are, they won't see them again. Little did they know, my sister is actually a local so they lost her as a customer for life. She didn't want to write a Yelp review about this interaction, but they made her feel so small and unappreciated that I didn't mind writing on her behalf. Based on other reviews, it kind of cements the fact that the people running this place and working there are not the type of people that anybody should be supporting. 5 women of different ethnicities walk into Skinderella and receive no type of customer service. I mean ZERO. While everyone else walking by the store, in the store, near the store received a hello, sample or some type of interaction. We received stares... rather than a simple "hello, how can I help you today?" The store was gorgeous and we wanted to purchase a couple things but NO ONE SAID ANYTHING. I just had the most transcendent bath ever and had to leave a review! My birthday fell on a rainy day this year, so my vacation to Solvang had a cozy lull in the middle of it that a warm bath would be perfect for. I remembered Skinderella from my previous visit but hadn't properly checked it out until today and I'm so glad I did. The bath bombs are bomb!
