On 5/9 my family and I had a reservation for a celebration. Not only did we wait to be seated for our reservation, but we waited about 30 minutes for a wine list, almost an hour altogether for our bottle, and about 2 hours for our food. The food is why we came, and chose this place specifically for the celebration out of all the competition close by. 2/3 steaks were meant to be medium rare (they were rare but had a sear at least), there was an undercooked lobster tail, and over all the flavor was not there and the cooking process was rushed based on past dining experiences where we had the same meals. I used to work at a steakhouse, these steaks were not temped. The only highlight was our server, she was great and made light of a bad situation. We will no longer speak out this establishment for celebrations, and will go down the street where our money will produce a more quality meal. read more

A group of friends wanted to come here on Valentine's Day, which was a big mistake. The place was busier than most Fridays for apparent reasons. My wife and I went there before the others and decided to get some drinks while we waited. The drinks were delicious, but unfortunately, we did not stay for food. I will have to come back and check out the food at the restaurant, and I hope it matches my experience of the drinks. The service was very quick. read more

Never fails to deliver!! The Saddle Room has become my favorite place to enjoy great food, great service, and great atmosphere!! Kara is amazing and very helpful in making recommendations for both food and drinks. Can't wait to go back. read more

The ambiance is what's good here, but the food is *very* mediocre. My burger was a little dry and quite skimpy on the sauce, and the portion of french fries was **egregiously** small, as in even smaller than a McDonalds small size fry.... Do better on the food and portions, Saddle Room. That portion of French fries was ridiculous. read more

First time visiting the Saddle Room. We really loved the decor inside. They have a nice fireplace in the middle of the restaurant that you can sit around. The service was very slow even though there were only a few other tables in the restaurant. Other than that, all our food was great. Our favorites were the truffle mafaldine pasta, calamari and meatballs. read more

Love going to this restaurant with my boyfriend. The ambience is cozy and inviting, and the service is top-notch. My favorites are the lobster carbonara and any of the duck dishes. The flatbread appetizer is fantastic, and the double-cut pork chop is a must-try. The wait time for the pork chop is 30-45 minutes, but it's worth it! Great vine selection as well . Always variety choices of desserts ! read more

I've been a big fan of the Saddle Room since it opinioned BUT during the last two times we have dined there, the service has been absolutely horrible. On a Sunday night it took 1&1/2 hour to get our food and they claim it was because they were super busy....they were not. One month ago, my bill was over $300.00 for two and the food was like a cheap steak house and the service once again questionable. They should be embarrassed and ashamed! read more

I recently had dinner at the Saddle Room, Hoffman Estates for the first time. It was on a Saturday evening, with a 7:00 reservation. This is not the place to go if you're looking for a date night where two people can have a conversation. All areas are very loud, with music, the size of the rooms, the acoustics, and large TV 's everywhere you look. It must be the most manly restaurant I have ever been in, and yes there is OTB with screens of past races in one room. I ordered the duck, which was served on a bed of assorted root vegetables. The texture was like suede, not even chewable. The veg's were overcooked and mushy. I didn't complain, but I declined the waitress's offer for a take-home box. She removed my entree from the tab without being asked, which I thought was nice. Seriously, I don't know why people get so excited about this place. It's the size of a Walmart, and more hectic with below average food. read more

A great experience here last night. The fireplace area, for drinks before dinner is stellar! Best place to be on the chilly evenings this area will soon have. And, they make very good drinks--I really enjoyed the Dean Martin. After we moved to our table, food was also very good. Stuffed mushrooms and lobster mac and cheese were great. Dinner entrees, all were excellent. The duck confit was crunchy and delicious served on top of some very nice creamy risotto. Steaks were tender and cooked properly. Carbonara also nicely done. Sadly, we had no room for dessert. Our server was excellent. They do include a small admin fee on the bill, its just itemizing something that would otherwise be included in the menu prices. No reason to complain about that fee. read more

This was our first visit to the Saddle Room for date night and I found the dining room to be really cozy and romantic. Our server was attentive and friendly but didn't intrude. We ordered soup as a first course and we both ordered short ribs for dinner. He had cream of mushroom and I had the lobster bisque. Both were excellent. I didn't think the short ribs or the rosemary potatoes were anything I would order again. The short ribs tasked a bit burnt (?) and the potatoes were an interesting idea but mine were mostly greasy, with just the top layer having a nice crisp to it. We also ordered peanut butter cake for dessert and again, I likely wouldn't order that again. But I'm willing to go back and try something else so for now I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt because it was a cool space and I would like to go again and try something else. read more

Got here 15mins before kitchen closed. The service was very nice even with us showing up so late in their shift. Good Cobb salad, but the apple salad should be called Apple Slaw because i was expecting a salad with sliced apples and manchego. This was a huge portion of apple slaw- julienned apples with an invisible vinegar-based dressing and I didn't see any Manchego. Couldn't eat it as I wasn't in the mood. I wanted a salad based on the description. Smoked salmon crostini was meh. Salmon was mashed into like a paste. Expected slices of smoked salmon. Three stars for service and bathrooms and they were at least very nice. read more

Went to Saddle Room again with friends- their choice. It was over priced! Our waiter was great- chocolate martini was delicious! Butternut squash ravioli pretty good! Unfortunately- for all of us, the portions were extremely small for the price! $30 for about 8 ravioli. The first thing my friends said was wow they don't give much! Typically when I a pasta dish anywhere else, it's a full bowl with plenty for leftovers!!! Not here! If you aren't going to give a large portion, charge half! While the food wasn't bad- the price is way too much fort what is received! read more

This is one of the best restaurants in the area and we love it. We're vegan but we find plenty to order on the menu and we try something new each time we visit. Their menu never gets old. First off...the food was really good, but there where things to warrant the rating. A big issue was dealt with poorly. I also hate when prices for things are not listed (drinks). My cousins and uncle came here to celebrate one of my cousin's birthday. It was all our first time and he had made the reservation. Ambiance: We ate at 2:30pm on Thursday so it was basically empty, only a couple other people there. The place is huge and has a rustic Southern vibe. We were seated in a booth which was nice and roomy. It was pretty dim to begin with but then halfway through the meal some lights turned off and all we had was a yellow lantern and the glimmer of sun through a window to light our meal. We probably could've mentioned this but didn't. Service: Our waitress was pretty good but there was some miscommunication from both sides. It wasn't the smoothest of interactions but she was nice! T mentioned that we're celebrating a birthday and she brought complimentary cheesecake at the end with a candle. Love that! Food: For the table we started off by ordering the Venison Meatballs ($16) and Duck Wings ($14). They were both underwhelming and not that good. There were only 3 meatballs ($5 each?!?) and maybe 5-6 skinny wings that were kind of dry. We added an order of the Calamari which was better but for $16 a lot of it was fried jalapeño. K, T, and I ordered some plates to share. We got the Al Pastor flatbread ($14), Scallop Carbonara ($23), and Short Rib ($39). I think I thought I like Al Pastor tacos so this should be good but looking at the ingredients after, there's too much going on and the crust was burnt. The Carbonara was actually flavorful and a good portion for the price. The scallops were also big. The Short Rib was tender and the potato side with it was tasty! My uncle ordered the Jambalaya Pasta ($18). He said it was a bit spicy for him so he shared the dishes with us. I had a couple of bites and it was pretty good. The birthday cousin had the Imperial American Wagyu Filet ($69) with a side of Lobster Mac (a whole $20 for a side). He said it's good but not worth the price. My other cousin had a Burger ($15) with a couple of toppings (extra $3.50, one of them is cheese..) which he said was pretty good. The side was house potatoes and he mentioned they're over seasoned. The Blueberry Goat Cheesecake for dessert was also actually good. TL;DR. The bill was $$$$. I would recommend the Short Rib, pastas, and cheesecake. If the food was amazing, it would be worth the price. It wasn't the case though and I don't live close enough to want to come back. read more

Not as good as it used to be. I have been here several times in years past, and the quality of the portions and seasonings has declined, as has the service. My husband and I stopped in on a Saturday evening for an early supper about 5:00pm. Only two other tables were occupied and one was a larger party. We were seated and waited about 10 minutes with absolutely no attention from anyone. A server waited on the large party, then came by and said he would be right there and disappeared again. We left after sitting there another 10 minutes with no service. Any restaurant with prices this high should at least offer decent service and better food. read more

Wowzas. This one was of the best burgers I have had in awhile. I added arugula, goat cheese, sundried tomatoes, and pesto mayo. They also don't overcook the burgers, I asked for medium rare and that is what I got! I feel like that is rare these days. The home fries were a little bit over cooked, but still okay. The seedless martini is delicious. They have tons of outdoor seating, but I wish they would have had the umbrellas up. It was a 90 degree day. All in all, convenient location, good service and great food. I suggest! read more

I was visiting my daughter and her boyfriend. He used to work at this restaurant back in high school and it's still one of his favorites. I can understand why. My Ribeye was delicious!!! Nice sear and crust and I loved the interestingly flavored blue cheese stuffed fried mushrooms but those are two of my all time favorite ingredients. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well. Shirt rib, ravioli and scallop pasta dish, all successful. Interesting drink list - too bad the drinking and driving thing is an issue, I would have tried them all. Really different seating- inside fireplaces and outdoor seating with fireplaces as well. Jordan was a very pleasant server. read more

Went here for the first time a few weeks ago. Was very surprised by the nice intimate interior decor. The atmosphere is dark (which I like) and complimented by the smell of wood burning fireplaces both inside the lounge area and outside. It's a nice rustic vibe. The food was good. You can tell they try to get creative with unique twists on their items. The server was very welcoming and made the effort to explain the menu in detail. Try one of their martini's. Very fun stuff. For our meal, we had Brie cheese curds which was interesting. Very rich and should be shared. Then we had a grilled Cesar salad. One of my favorites if done right and this place didn't disappoint. For my entree... I was craving a basic ribeye. That's exactly what I got. No fancy frills. Just a nice, well cooked steak and side of potatoes. For desert... peanut butter tiramisu? What?!? Yeah, that happened. We ended up getting an extra to-go as well. Ultimately, I had a great experience here and look forward to going back soon. read more

The food was fantastic. I had the surf and turf and subbed for the ribeye. Perfectly cooked medium rare. It came with an amazing potato terrine which is a must get. I had pass by this place a few times and decided to order Togo. Went on the website and check out what they had. I decided to get the jambalaya pasta, calamari, Brussels sprouts and stuff mushrooms. Dissatisfied Brussels sprouts cooked with bacon and that's all it taste like. Bacon fat. Stuff mushrooms. I guess this was where the salt went. Bill was 80 bucks. I have eaten lunch here several times and have always been happy with the food and service. Tonight was our first visit for Happy Hour and although the food was very good the service was not. Our drink order was delivered and then our waiter disappeared. After 20 minutes we flagged down another waiter and asked if he could locate our server. We placed our food orders which were delivered and then our waiter disappeared again. We ate and enjoyed our food but our plates were never cleared. Finally after 15 minutes of staring at our empty plates we cleared the table ourselves, placing the dirty dishes on an adjacent table. At no time did our waiter offer water refills or check to see if we needed anything more. And this is one of the restaurants that charge an extra charge to "compensate" their kitchen help which I find absolutely unacceptable. The restaurant should be responsible for paying their employees a living wage. And then they tax on the extra charge, which I'm not sure is even legal. I will be following up with the town of South Barrington regarding this last issue. read more

The good: The interior and exterior design, decor and atmosphere are first rate, unique and fun. The service was pretty good. The mediocre: The food for our group of eight ranged from so-so to good, but nothing was excellent or worth coming back for. The bad: OMG, it took at least 35 minutes to get our entrees. If the conversation wasn't so good at our big table, we would've complained. We also never received acknowledgment that the food was going to take awhile/longer than usual. We definitely didn't get an apology for the long wait when the food finally came out. Plus, this was when the restaurant wasn't even that crowded (Friday). The prices are too high. Everything on the menu is at least 25% more than it should be (and that's being kind when you throw in less than great food and a long wait time to get it). read more

I thought this was a great patio dining spot. The Brie curds were the star of the show tonight, they were absolutely delicious. I had the bacon chop, which was pretty good. My boyfriend had the duck breast, it was mediocre, very small and had the entire plate covered in hard to eat Brussels sprout pieces. I thought I got a photo of it, but I guess not. The martinis here are very generous, they fill the drink to the rim of the glass. It was a good martini! Had a waiter who was there only two days, but he was super nice. It pains be to write this bad review. My wife and I have celebrated many a birthday and anniversary here, and we loved having this restaurant as our venue. However, the only thing that was positive about our experience was our waitress who was on her last night of training. My Old Fashioned tasted like it was made with scotch, our tuna tartare (usually an absolute favorite) was overwhelmingly fishy to the point where we only ate half of it. When we called out the Tuna Tartare being fishy, the server (who was overseeing our trainee waitress, which I want to call out cause she was about the only good thing about the meal) just brushed it off. However, the worst was yet to come. Despite wearing pants to the meal, because we were sitting on the patio, my ankles were absolutely annihilated by mosquitoes. Given that there is a well sized body of water right near the patio, we always assumed that the restaurant too k some measures to combat mosquitos. We were wrong. The next day, my ankles were so swollen from the numerous bites, that I sought out medical attention to help with the pain and discomfort. Because we loved the Saddle Room, we called to inform them of the issue and ask if they would do anything about it. The manager who took the call, Andrew, was snide and dismissive. He noted, with contempt dripping from his voice, that they don't do anything about the mosquitoes, and Mother Nature was going to do whatever she wanted. When we asked if there was anything he would do for us, he laughed out loud. We would have been happy if he had simply said that he would make sure that he consulted the GM to assess the mosquitoes, and anything beyond that would have been icing on the cake. Our goal was to prevent anyone from having a bad experience at what has been our favorite restaurant for the past 2+ years. On one our prior dining experiences, we had a drink take 30 minutes to come out and the server took it off our bill, so we were just shocked at the response from a Manager (Andrew). We are deeply saddened that we will never come back here again, and will no longer be able to sing the restaurants praises to our friends. read more

Went on a Sunday afternoon around 1:30pm. There was only 5 other tables filled in the restaurant. We had to wait 50 mins for our food, and the server only checked in us once during that time, until I said something to the manager. This place just plain sucks, plenty of other places around worth your money. read more

First off I would like to preface this post by saying that we (my husband and I) USE to love the Saddle room. It was absolutely our go to for date night away from our kids. That being said I feel I have been forced to write a terribly negative review due to the horrific encounter I had with the manager, Andrew. My husband and I booked a reservation which we were seated outside on the patio. We cut our dinner short due to the bombardment of mosquitoes. Which is completely natural for being outside on a patio. This is a concept I completely understand. I decided to call and talk to the manager, Andrew to tell him that there was more than just your typical mosquito issue on the patio. I asked Andrew if he was aware that there was in fact a mosquito issue and if there was anything done to address it such as investing in mosquito repellent lights chemicals or other technology. He literally laughed in my face and said "ha, we address the mosquito issue by not addressing the mosquito issue". The tone of his voice and this remark was holy inappropriate and INTENDED to be contemptuous. I felt completely mocked by sharing our poor experience. When I tried to tell him I felt belittled by him for minimizing our issue he kept interrupting and speak over me by sarcastically stating "IT's MOTHER NATURE! You can't do anything about Mother Nature" I beg to differ Andrew. A good establishment, who values their customers and their experiences (while also staying professional while listening to negative feedback) will take all necessary means to make their customers encounter as pleasurable as possible. When management admits that there is a mosquito problem, the establishment should invest in attempting to minimize or correct the mosquito issue. Andrew was in such poor form with how he handled our communication that I hope this was due to him having a bad day. At no point did I blame the establishment and I can't rationalize your defensive position. The restaurant has forever lost our business for no female should ever have to experience management who "man-splain" Mother Nature. There was never an expectation to rid the mosquitoes by 100% but come on man, look at the photos! I will be actively telling my friends, family, co-workers not to go to this establishment read more
