I'll be honest, I'm more of a Marketplace and HomeGoods budget shopper, so walking in, I wasn't sure if I'd feel out of place. I had just finished a workout, dropped breakfast off for my son, had my dog waiting in the car, and definitely wasn't looking my best. What impressed me most was how welcoming and kind everyone was. I was treated with genuine respect, and the staff took the time to help me without making me feel pressured or judged. The experience was comfortable, enjoyable, and completely exceeded my expectations. I ended up finding a piece that I absolutely love. It's now the focal point of my sitting room and makes me smile every time I walk into the space. If you've ever driven by and thought, "That place is probably too expensive for me," or worried you wouldn't fit the vibe, I encourage you to give it a chance. You might be surprised. I certainly was, and I'm so glad I stopped in.

Patti, of House of J provided perfect solutions in that much of the previous artwork was still fine for our new space. Where change , additional art or upgrades seemed important, Patti took pictures of existing furnishings, wall colors etc. and scoured resources to find prints and pieces to provide finishing touches. She also provided interior design consultation services by coming into out home and assisting with using accessories I already had such as : books on Omaha or art pieces i already owned. She brought in a few additional accessories but there was never any pressure to purchase. Her hourly fee is more than reasonable and definitely worth it for the consultation information , ideas and suggestions she has to offer.

As soon as you walk in, there are Halloween decorations displayed up front, which was probably the best part of the entire store. Unfortunately, the rest of the store felt like walking through chaos. But it's worth looking for, as you'll probably find something you didn't know you were looking for. What sets Among Other Things apart from all the other shops selling vintage and consignment stuff for the home is that their collection is well-curated. You won't find cheap craft crap; you'll find cool stuff from throughout the last, oh, 120 years or so. Any of it would look good in a well-appointed home. And thank heavens, they haven't completely jumped on the mid-century trend as most other such places have. From chairs to rugs to cards, there's something here for anyone with good taste. (I picked up a fairly recent photography coffeetable book at a reasonable price.) There's also an adjoining women's vintage clothing store (unfortunately, nothing for guys). While the location might be a little tough to find at first, it's one to put on your radar. (And not far from NFM, so any time you're thinking of visiting them, stop by here, too.)

Especially when you can find comparable items at a thrift store. As a result some items have been there for quite some time. I love that she also carries some local artists' works. But again, overpriced for what they are. The store is quite crowded, I don't think a stroller could fit through some of the walking paths. I worry about bringing my big purse in. Overall, it's a fun place to peruse, but after many visits, I've yet to pull the trigger on buying anything.

I'm so glad I stopped in! The thing that stood out most was the service. This is a family-owned and operated business, and you can genuinely feel that when you're there. The sisters working were teasing each other and having fun, and you could just tell they're close. Both employees I interacted with were incredibly sweet, friendly, and helpful, and I noticed they treated every other customer with that same warmth. There's just a different feeling to a place like this. It feels personal and welcoming in a way that really sets it apart. I was also SO happy to see how many caffeine-free tea options they had. The woman helping me asked what kinds of flavors I liked, and after I gave her a few ideas, she steered me toward a tea that ended up being exactly what I was looking for. Then they did something I've honestly never experienced before, despite having had countless cups of tea at coffee and tea shops over the years. They gave me my teabag back to take home and reuse! It came in an adorable little cup with the name of the tea and steeping instructions written on the outside. They explained that their teas are high quality and flavorful enough that you can usually get two, if not three, brews out of them, so why throw the tea away after one? Such a small thing, but I loved it. It felt thoughtful, generous, and mindful of waste all at once. The shop itself isn't huge, but they've made really nice use of the space. The front has a gift-shop area with a variety of new age type items for sale, then you order your drink at the counter farther in. Off to the side are several small tables, plus a separate little room with a few armchairs. You can leave the door open and have it feel semi-private, or close it if you want a little more privacy. My only small note is that when I first walked in, the scent of what I assume was incense was pretty strong. I'm not much of an incense person, so it was a little overwhelming at first. If there were a way to make the scent a bit more subtle, I think it would make the space even more comfortable for people who aren't used to it. That said, after about 15 minutes sipping my tea, I didn't notice it anymore. Overall, this was such a pleasant surprise. I went in simply hoping to find a caffeine-free herbal tea I'd enjoy and ended up finding a warm, welcoming family-run shop with wonderful service and people who clearly care about what they're serving and the customers who walk through the door. I'll absolutely be back!
