The chicken was minging, the sauce was indescribable. You could even see the coriander was brown / greyish in places, like when you forget about it in the bottom of your fridge. I could taste what seemed like tinned tomatoes. Sooo greasy it was swimming in the stuff. My mate, who has a stomach like an ox didn't even get past halfway but gave up. I then saw my lunch about 20 odd minutes later in the waste paper bin in my office after hurling it up!

The annoying indo- pakistani videos playing on the TV were the only source of music available until he gets the new speaker system installed. Votive candles on each table and a large mirror on the empty wall would do much to improve the lack of ambiance and give the place a larger feel... super friendly owner who was very open to all these ideas and if he follows through I look forward to a return on my next trip... To find a curry worth writing home about. Today, I'm one happy camper. Some time ago, over a glass or two of wine with the fabulous Food for Think, I lamented my complete inability to find a delicious curry truly worthy of London's repute for such fare. Ms Food for Think promptly issued, and I eagerly accepted, an invitation for TPG and I to join her and boyfriend Mr J at Karahi King in North Wembley. North Wembley is in Zone 4. No, I am not joking. Somehow, possibly due to the guarantee of good company, the promise of plentiful food and my inadvertent omission to mention zoning, I managed to lure TPG there anyway with barely a whimper. He did pack 2 magazines for the journey. Karahi King is plastic plate, paper napkin, no frills dining in an almost canteen/cafe style setting. Naturally, this is the perfect backdrop for wonderful, pleasure filled plates of joy to be scooped, shared and chatted over in glorious Friday night abandon. There's an open kitchen with karahi pans ready and raring to mix you up an exotic storm of spicy North Indian goodness. Mr J, who has travelled around India and seems to know his stuff, took care of the ordering. I recommend you take him with you if you visit - he's right on target every time. Our starters were scrumptious - juicy Seekh Kebabs (lamb mince) were perfectly grilled with a hit of aromatic spice, while the gorgeous Paneer Tikka (cubes of cottage cheese), grilled with onion, tomatoes and capsicum, went some way to revealing the mystery of what might get a vegetarian out of bed in the morning. Each dish was broken up over beer bottles and wine glasses, and scooped into some fine naan to aid delivery. Our curries followed. Each had its own distinct flavour and texture, and was in a whole other league from the "pieces of meat floating in non-descript sauce" variety that I have come to presume. (Although we recently had some decent ones with friends at Gaylords, Fitzrovia. Oh, please - so immature). We feasted on the Karahi Chicken (tender chicken breast cooked in tomato, onion and coriander, with a hint of ginger), Keema Karahi (minced lamb and potatoes in a spicy mix of tomato, chilli, garlic and coriander leaves), a smoky Saag Paneer (spinach and cheese), and soupy looking dahl with temperate spices. We soaked them up with rice and large garlic naans. TPG and Ms Food For Think lingered over some creamy, pyramid shaped mango kulfi (ice cream to you and me). There's a huge array of both meaty and vegetarian dishes. It's delicious, cheap (around £15 per head if you're really feasting - including beers and service) and it's even BYO (extra tick). And despite my carryings on with the bit about Zone 4, it's actually an easy shoot straight up the Bakerloo line. The naans are perfectly round and soft. Not sweet at all like some of the other Bengali Indian restaurants where naan is more like dessert. The place is busy most of the time. Service is prompt. They allow you to BYOB which is a nice touch. The prices are great too. Dinner for two ran us a little over 20 pounds. I also hear they are open till midnight, which is great. During my visit, my only two gripes were that they didn't have Nihari (come to think of it, they don't have too many beef dishes which is typical of Pakistani restaurants), and they didn't have tea. I knew i needed to get my share. I headed here today for the biryani. The Pakistani Kitchen is set inside Eat 17's Market. It's like a food court with 3-4 options, of which the Empress Market is one of them. There's common seating around the space. Not much of it, but most people I saw visiting while I was there this afternoon, were taking away boxes to eat at the office or elsewhere. The regular menu includes traditional Pakistani Street food like bun kebabs - that are very yum. There are also bowls of dhal and baingan bharta (aubergine) which are sold as hot pots. The food is super yum. There are no drinks available here. But the adjoining Eat17 supermarket has a large range of alcoholic and non alcoholic chilled drinks and freshly squeezed orange juice too. If I'm in Hammersmith anytime, I'll definitely be making the detour to eat here

They have done an impressive job on the remodel updating it with a bright and clean interior tastefully decorated and well equipped. Two large screen TV's play Bollywood music videos and sporting events. When you enter there is a small kebab shop and takeaway, and you enter through the second set of doors to the dining room. The food is amazing! A dazzling array of choices and some special items. We ordered Karahi Fish, Karahi Methi Gosht, Tarka Daal and a whole tandoori chicken. This was more than enough food for four and we were all very happy to try so many tasty items. First the fish was perfectly prepared and delicately spiced. It had a great texture and wasn't "swimming" in sauce. The lamb curry was ordered spicy and the chef actually came to ask us how spicy we actually wanted it, so we explained EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA hot.. he laughed and asked if we were sure and we said we were. He delivered! It was a spicy inferno without being overpowering. The daal was very nice but the highlight was the Tandoori chicken.. it was the most flavorful one we had tried in a long time and came out perfectly moist and juicy and oozing with flavour, and at 7 quid it was quite a deal as well. We also noted on the menu the chefs special.. a WHOLE LEG OF LAMB! We vowed a night of hedonism and drinking accompanied by a lamb feast. We followed through the following week and we were rewarded for our determination with a stunning piece of culinary magic. The leg of lamb was so tender and flavourful that we decided to make it a monthly ritual.. but be forewarned you have to order it 24 hours in advance.. so think ahead! The Lahore Masala House is a welcome addition to the Kentish Town landscape.. they have great lunch deals and they also stay up late for those leaving the locals or the Forum.
