After reading about Shampan having won the "suburban restaurant" category of the British Curry Awards, presented by David Cameron no less, we decided to give them a try on a Saturday evening.
We booked by phone early that afternoon, and they were already quite full, but managed to fit us in for 7:30pm.
The interior was what you'd find in in a typical higher end suburban Indian restaurant, with the addition of a few certificates about the awards they'd won.
The food was good, but I was expecting better myself. The presentation was more on par with an inner London restaurant, and the service was attentive.
The only real downside was they had that nasty Indian restaurant habit of charging bottle / can prices for soft drinks, but only pouring you a glass from an already opened two litre plastic bottle.
Throughout our dinner there was a continuous stream of customers coming in to collect takeaway orders too, so maybe it's more suited to a high end takeaway rather than a nice dining in experience. read more
