They also convinced the friend I brought with me to get gel as well. This used to be my go-to spot, which makes this experience even more disappointing. The customer service has gone downhill over time. No one wears name tags, no one is welcoming, and the staff overall seems uninterested and dismissive. This has been my experience consistently since late 2024. I truly hope things change for the better, but unfortunately I won't be returning.

I was nervous choosing someone after only looking at photos and reviews on Yelp but after the owner, Melissa was kind enough to make time for me in her already booked schedule and seemed as excited as I was to give me a new look I knew I had made the right choice. I had chosen a photo I loved from her website which happened to be one of the more involved processes - Bayalage and takes quite a bit longer. She came in early and spent over half a day giving me the look I had dreamed of and even did an extra treatment on my hair to keep it from getting too dry since I already had color and went blonder. I love Aveda, and while you sometimes pay a little bit more at an Aveda salon, I think it is 100% worth it. I left feeling like a movie star with my silky blowout and natural highlights. I also love that Green House is a smaller salon, more intimate setting and in a beautiful location. You can even stroll to view the beach while you are processing. I got to see the plans for the upcoming renovations and can't wait to go back to see the new zen look of the space. Thank you Melissa for making me feel like a customer you had had for years. COMPLETELY different experience with Up Your Hair. I was immediately greeted with a hello and friendly smile (first impressions are very important to me) by Caitlin. And even though Joseph was wrapping up his previous client, he came over to say hello and check things out (since I'm a new client) just before I got under the sink. Again, very important. Next, Joseph asked questions and actually LISTENED before taking the first snip. I have slightly curly thin hair cut in long layers about shoulder length, and have been "trying out" a side bang. It's been months since I've had it cut Joseph was terrific about explaining what he was doing and getting everything back in shape. He also gets the "wash and wear" lifestyle and didn't insist on blowing my curls out straight like so many stylists do. Why do you do that, stylists?!! It's going to last 30 seconds out in this humidity! The ease of booking an appointment online was just one more added bonus. I promise you that I'm not related to Joseph or Caitlin, I found them through a Google search (even though I live just over a mile away - never saw their storefront!). They are a small business doing things right, and I really wish them success. I'll definitely return!

If you are looking for a great hair stylist, Yani is the lady you need!! I have been going to The Room since I moved here for mani-pedis for months, but just recently heard hair was now an option. As a new local I have been looking for someone trustworthy with my hair, and Yani was incredible! My hair is healthier then it has been in months, and after Yani's cut, my natural waves are coming through! Not only was the cut excellent, Yani was extremely caring and helpful in offering options for what to do with my hair (treatments, extensions, et.). Yani was incredibly friendly and fun to talk to, overall providing a warm and professional experience. I will definitely be going back! The Room overall is a wonderful place to go. I used to love this place but most of the times they broke skin and after my last experience here I won't be going back. The tech broke skin on 4 of my nails, she was so rough with the buffer which was not sterile. The tech is also not very friendly, and even though I asked her to be more gentle she just shrugged it off saying I just have sensitive cuticles. Because I was waiting longer than usual I was paying more attention to the employees. When I first got there the foot bath had a used plastic basin cover still sitting in it and I had to tell the man to change it before he started my pedicure and that it was dirty and used. He changed it but was prepared to use the same one that had already been used. I watched the woman who works there dip her tools in dirty foot bath water, including the white jet cover, and set it to the side. Not cleaned. The tools she used on me were used on the person before me. She dipped them in water where my feet had been soaking and dried them on the towel my feet were at and tossed them in her bin. This was the same thing that was done with the woman prior to me. It didn't register right away what had happened but then I asked her if they were the same tools and she said yes. I then spoke with the male at the front desk and explained this to him and he didn't deny this. He said something to her about it and did not seem surprised at all about this.
