My folks have lived not too far from here for nearly 20 years and we have never thought to try this spot out even when they were just a food truck. Not sure what changed but I started to notice the ongoing heavy lines I think because of social distancing required due to COVID-19, googled the menu and saw some yelp reviews and decided to give it a try. I can't believe we slept on this place. The food is definitely good and the service is 5 star. I'm a hard critic of soul food spots because I come from a family of excellent soul food cooks. I, myself, can cook a mean pot of collards, string beans, and Mac and cheese. Rolling Rib is a good substitute when I don't have time to cook. My family tried a variety of the dishes including ribs and chicken wings via the fatbox, fried catfish, fried whiting, cabbage, mac n cheese, cabbage, string beans, collards, potato salad, yams, cornbread, banana pudding and seafood salad. I guess you can say we nearly sampled the whole damn menu lol. It tastes like your auntie or grandma cooked it for sure. The standouts were the fried catfish, Mac n cheese, string beans, cornbread, bbq sauce, seafood salad, and strawberry lemonades. Best of all the food is reasonably priced. Chicken was good. Wait wasn't so bad compared to what Ive heard. All in all it took about 25/30 minutes in the summer heat to get food. They have a seating area that was comfortable seeing it was not crowded. We went around 1130 . My complaint is I paid 25.85 for 2 meats and didn't get but one. I have been coming to Roland Webb for years. Today was my most disappointing experience as the ribs taste like lighter fluid. The macaroni and cheese wasn't as it usually is it was dry with tons of pepper in it for some reason the greens were cooked all the way I asked for my sauce on the side. There was no sauce in my bag. The chicken wings were fried not what I expected but definitely not disappointing, the flavor was there. The Rolling Rib was a very different experience than what I was expecting. The restaurant's parking lot was packed. The packed parking lot let us know right off back that the food would be good. The lady that took our order had an attitude and messed up my son's order. He asked for a Rib tip Sandwich with white bed, fries, and a half and half. He only got rib tips and the half and half, because that was all she put in for his order. My order was beef ribs, Mac and cheese, baked beans, and a cornbread muffin. My son loved the food. I really liked the BBQ sauce, cornbread muffin, and baked beans. This restaurant has two sides that must be entered by customers to place an order and receive their food. After placing your order, they will call out your number over the intercom. There is not any indoor sitting room and I am uncertain if this is due to COVID restrictions. They have a wooden table to the side of the business that can be used to eat on. The menu is very massive and encompasses a lot of southern delicacies. Anything from BBQ to fried fish, and just about any type of southern side is available. The establishment also offers different types of cake and banana pudding. As you've read in other reviews, their wait time is extended. Our order was taken quickly, but we waited almost an hour to get the food. We ordered ribs, mac and cheese, greens, and cornbread. I can tell how much time they put into their ribs because they were fantastic. As far as the sides, my review is subjective. I had been waiting on this establishment to reopen because I always loved the brisket. I went Friday and ordered 2 brisket dinners, a rib dinner and a rib sandwich. I waited over an hour. I finally received my food and headed home. I open the brisket and it was loaded but the slices were mainly just fat and the pieces that weren't were as tough as leather. The rib dinner consisted of burnt pieces but the were placed in the container so I didn't notice until I got home. Needless to say this was a waste. I just heard of this place 2 weeks ago and wanted to give it a try. Although it's a BBQ joint, I saw that they serve baked turkey wings with stuffing on Sundays. The wings must be very popular because they were sold out just an hour after opening. I was dissapointed but went with the baked chicken with stuffing, collard greens and candied yams. As I stand outside in line (only 2 at a time inside due to covid-19), I chatted with some folks about this being my first time. They assured me I won't be disappointed. They were right! The chicken was fall off the bone tender and covered with a flavorful gravy with a savory stuffing. The sweet potatoes were heavenly with that hint of lemon how my mama used to make. And the collard greens were good but needed vinegar and hot sauce to bring out their full flavors. They also gave a nice cornbread muffin. All of this for $11.95. Definately enough for 2 meals. I ordered the family rack of ribs and the sliced portion of brisket which I thought both were a little pricey. The ribs had a good flavor but they were so tough. I ended up giving most of my ribs to my dog because they were too chewy. The brisket was a little tough but better than the ribs. Brisket didn't have any bark which I like. The mac n cheese is nothing to write home about and the greens were flavorful. The cornbread is the best thing I tasted. In addition the women in the takeout portion of the restaurant is pretty rude and abrasive. You will NOT get service with a smile here. The food came out in 15 min which I anticipated being longer. I, then attempted to order online but got an "online ordering unavailable" error message. When I called back I was told to come in and place an order because online ordering cuts off after a specific time.. given the run around. I came in to order to find out they didn't even have beef ribs left to serve to customers great news, right? My confirmation email stated it would be ready within an hour, which it was. When I arrived, the place was packed. The ribs were delicious. They were tender and had an authentic smokiness to them. The mac and cheese was also good. However, I didn't like the greens and will getting the cabbage instead next time. The banana pudding was good as well...reminded of my gmom's southern banana pudding. There was no whipped cream, just straight vanilla pudding, crackers and bananas, as it should be. Got ribs without sauce and string (green) beans because I'm on keto and you can't be sure with collard greens in this area-- they might have sugar on them. Basic meal: I paid $18 for a half slab and a small side and I'm pretty satisfied with the value. The ribs are some of the best I've had in the DMV area. Without sauce they were tasty and palatable unlike most other local places. I can't wait to try their Mac and cheese and I think I will get cabbage on the next visit but this is a tasty carry out spot that's worth a weekend visit.
