As long as you dont expect 3 star food for two with wine for 20 quid you cant go wrong , well worth a visit.

What a great find! Still on our canal holiday we moored alongside the canal at Low Bradley on a…read morevery sunny sunday afternoon and walked into Bradley in search of a pub. We were really happy to stuble across the Slaters with its fantastic patio - perfect for a sunny afternoon and with possibly the best view I have ever seen from a pub patio. Dogs were very welcome to sit outside and lots of water bowls were provided for them. It was a bit like Crufts actually particularly when we joined the crowd with our two Newfoundlands! After a couple of cool drinks we decided to drop the dogs back to the boat and returned to the Slaters for Dinner. We were lucky to get a table as they were fully booked which is a great indication of the quality of the food. The menu covers all tastes - fresh fish, steaks, great veggie options supplemented by Sunday Roasts on the special board. My Spinach & Ricotta lasagne was delicious and OH Fish & Chips soon disappeared without a trace. Neither of us could make desert as the portions were more than enough - and we did have a cheeky garlic bread starter which was just dripping with garlic butter and to die for - I did see a guy on the next table sampling the home made New York Cheescake, it looked amazing and was the biggest portion I have ever seen. Isn't it funny how really skinny people can eat so much????? All in all this is a great pub, great food and I must make a special mention of the Landlord and Landlady who despite being run off their feet were really friendly and welcoming, they took time to chat to everyone. It was a really pleasant change. The Slaters Arms gets my vote and we will return - its not particularly close to home but will be worth the effort.

I've come to Ilkley and I've not even had any booze yet. What on earth is wrong with me? I know…read morethat makes me sound like I have issues (and quite frankly I do but I won't go into them), but I just like some liquid refreshment. Quick then get me into the Ilkley Moor Vaults. This is a cracking pub. It's nicely done out and has a very warm friendly atmosphere. It's laid back and chilled all the way. Now onto the important bit and the drinks. Well I love it. Simple as that. The wine list has some excellent tipples on and it isn't ridiculously expensive either. The ale is finely kept and there is a nice selection as well. My only problem is deciding my beverage of choice. As for the food, it's real served pub grub of the highest order. This place deserves a good old pat on the back. They are also super relaxed about dogs and walkers too, which is good to know if you want a walking stop off point to refuel.

Just down the A65 in Ilkley, this food-focused walkers' haunt is one of the best. With low lighting, dark wood and cosy seating to compliment the all-important open fire, this is prime date territory, and the restaurant-quality food and extensive wine list (plus a good soft drink selection for the driver) will ensure an evening to remember. On my visit I enjoyed a spinach, squash and goat's cheese lasagne - a deliciously fresh-tasting use of seasonal, local produce - and a melt-in-the-mouth cheeseboard accompanied by a tart quince jelly. I can heartily recommend both. Although food is clearly the main event here, a decent selection of house and guest ales means its also worth just popping in for a drink, and with the pub's position just five minutes from the centre of Ilkley, a quaint, up-market spa town, and at the start of the Dales Way, there are plenty of opportunities to walk off any excesses.
