First of all, I think their prices are too high. I ordered food to go on New Year's Eve. One of the dinners I ordered was smothered chicken. It had green peppers all over it. I can't eat green peppers. They make me very ill. I called and they were very willing to replace it. It was DELICIOUS!!! It had large, thick, juicy chicken breast filets with cheese, mushrooms, and onions. About a month later, I ordered another smothered chicken dinner. The filets were very small. The 2 sides of the breast together didn't even equal 1 side of the breast from the previous dinner. I was shocked and disappointed. It tasted good but the second dinner was nothing like the meal I previously had. The cooks are very inconsistent and need some training.

So, they revamped the old BlackBull Steakhouse into Smashers Bullpen Burgers and Brews. Pros: Alyssa, our waitress, was extremely nice, friendly, and very attentive, and I'd like to commend her on that because this place was PACKED. The beer cheese is excellent, and I didn't expect my burger to come on Texas toast but, overall I rather enjoyed that over the bun. My husband got the bareback bourbon pork and really liked the sauce on it. The lemonade was good. Price was it's about the same everywhere, about $40-50 for two people. A little pricey. Cons: Understaffed. There were two waitresses and it just seemed very hectic. The kitchen got backed up and it was then a 45 minute wait to everyone who came in after us. The pork on the sandwich my husband got was burnt. They said the sandwich I got was "swimming in mounds of sautéed onions" - they forgot the onions. So it was lacking a bit of flavor. The fries are absolutely bottom of the bag, over salted, and flavorless. I'll skip those next time and choose a different side. It needs some decorations and there needs to be some better seating options, either a 4 person table or a 6 person table. Not great for couples. And just a matter of personal opinion, the menu is a bit childish - I get they were trying to really go for the "country" style here, but we already live in BFE, we don't need a story for every menu item. Overall, we will try it again, and I really hope this place does do well because anyone near Rural Valley and Dayton knows we could sure use a good restaurant.

It's beside Cafe Monaco and if it's busy good luck finding a spot nearby. I went mid day on a Sunday and after some circling the block found a nearby spot. I think the venue itself is very nice. It's fresh looking and inviting. Because it was one of the warm days recently they had the whole front opened up and that was nice. It seems to have a hometown client base, I say that because everyone seemed to know each other or at least someone else there. They had a food truck setting up when I was there but I don't try it. The selection, while not huge was solid. I decided to try a DIPA and a TIPA and both were decent. The folks working were accommodating. If I get back over that way I'll be sure to stop by and try another drink or two.

I'm a lousy golfer but certainly appreciated a cold drink after walking around the golf course all day. Local Remedy is a brewery in Oakmont. It is in the main business district. Garage doors open to offer fresh air. There are picnic tables outside and they encourage you to order from any of Oakmont's various restaurants. The staff is extremely friendly, offering quick service and great recommendations. There were non-alcoholic options for those who did not drink in our party. We enjoyed it enough that we came back twice over three days.

Located on the golf course, I would choose here over Brady's ANY day. Most days I would choose here…read moreover Out Of The Fire (OOTF). Why? They have booze, yo. Here's the real deal: OOTF is casual fine dining, this place isn't - but if you are considering OOTF, you should consider this place too. It's a no frills, fake flowers on your table, type of joint. They turn out pretty good food, you don't need a reservation, and you aren't getting charged a cork fee because they haz all liquor. If you want something with the pretense of fine dining, or if you have trouble admitting that a well executed sammich is always better than "fine dining" executed with mere mediocrity, just go to OOTF and don't be mad at me for leading you here. I really like their potato chips. I really like their salad bar (which is awesome for a quick, light lunch). I like their sandwiches - and am partial to their version on a club and one called the birdie. I've never ordered an entree, but have attended a special event there that had a buffet -- they had solid offerings (I don't think those appear on the menu, so no point in talking about them too much -- but everything was cooked properly and nothing was over cooked, which hard for a buffet set up to pull off). The only thing I don't like is the cheesey broccoli soup - which is an unnatural color of orange that I remember from my mother's "homemade" mac and cheese, which contained so much Velvetta. Anyway, check this place out.

Oh, and the prices aren't bad either. Just look for the little Duke sitting on top of the beer tap!
