The fact that this even exists is such a great asset to Beckley. I had been meaning to come here for years, but hadn't been able to make the time u til today. I purchased them tickets only through the website. The cost was between $7.50 to $10 per ticket plus some service fees. Not sure if the price would have been the same at the stadium. I had the option to either print my tickets or pick up at will call. When I got to will call they didn't issue me a ticket, they just said I could show my email to the people at the front to get in. There are several concession stands and food options which are more detailed on their website. The price varied a lot from very affordable ($2 for snow cone) to over priced ($3 for a bottle of water). However, the people are very friendly and the Eplings have created a family like atmosphere. There are no covered seating so bring an umbrella to block out the Sun or rain. Bleacher seating doesn't have backs but the "box" seating does. All seats have great views of the action and the field even over looks the mountains. Just don't park close to the stadium; there are several balls that leave the park and will hit your car if you're parked in the first 3 rows. Overall, I recommend this experience to locals and anyone just visiting!

The onion rings felt fresh and were dipped in a really delicious batter. As you can see, the peanut butter pie was huge, creamy, and really delicious with a good balance of cream cheese flavor. The chicken pot pie did not disappoint either! It was a bowl of the creamy chicken mixture with a ridiculous amount of actual chicken in it (both light and dark meat). It was topped by a layer of some flaky and delicious pastry. There was just enough of everything, though. It was a lot to eat, and I was unable to finish it all. The tomato cucumber salad was okay, I tend to not like my vegetables as marinated as they were, but it still had good taste. The biggest disappointment was the creme brulee. Don't get me wrong, it tasted amazing and came out perfectly bruleed! But it was the same price as the peanut butter pie, and was extremely misleading and how much was actually there. When looking at the dish it was served in, the entire bottom. Half of the dish was ceramic with a very narrow full to actually place anything in. In the end, I think I got about half the amount of creme that I expected. It did not feel like it was worth the money, so I would not recommend ordering it. That being said, we will definitely make a point of stopping here to eat on every trip in the future, though we might just both end up with peanut butter pie!!

And if you get the chance to take Don's tour, DO IT! Don was incredible. His stories, humor, knowledge, and personal experiences as a coal miner made the history come alive in a way that you just can't get from reading a sign or walking through a museum. He made us laugh, taught us so much, and gave us a whole new appreciation for the men and families who lived and worked in the coal camps. Riding the mine car underground and going through the old mine was such a unique experience. You also get to walk through the historic coal camp buildings, including the company house, superintendent's house, church, school, and miner's shanty. But honestly, what made this place so special was the people. Everyone we talked to in the buildings was incredibly kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable. They were happy to talk with us, answer questions, and share the history behind what we were seeing. We've done a LOT on this trip, and this was easily the experience we'll be talking about the most. It was educational, fascinating, funny, and at times really moving.

I enjoyed going underground, and our tour guide, Gerald, was great. He was able to answer all the questions he was asked. I also went to some of the outbuildings. I was surprised and pleased to see that there were docents in the Supervisor's house & the school. Both of those women came from coal mining families, and I was lucky to be able to spend some time talking to each of them about their experiences. What a hard -- and kind of sad -- life. I actually felt a little guilty that mine is so much different. I also went into the gift shop, where all of the women were just hilariously funny! They almost made me wish that I lived in the area & wanted a job; I would love to work with them! I encourage everyone to visit the Beckley Coal Mine. It was very informative and eye-opening.

The tasting room is large and the day my husband and I visited was very quiet. We had the entire place to ourselves at one point. The gentleman who served us was very kind and offered revommdations on wine and food based on our preferences. It was so clean and looked brand new even though it's 30 years old! Chad was the picture of hospitality. He was very knowledgeable on all the wines and even though we arrived within an hour of closing (we were those people today, I swear we usually aren't), he never rushed us. He was warm, patient, kind, and made us feel incredibly special. And the wine was unique and tasty. I have had a lot of wine (hello 2020) and this certainly measured up there on my list. We left with 3 bottles and some amazing homemade fall sangria in adult Capri Sun style pouches. They also have tables and seating downstairs used for special weekly events and tournaments, and their also available for use when those aren't in session. Speaking of, they have a huge selection of demo board games that you can try out or just play downstairs *free of charge*! To top it all off, they live up to their name and keep things friendly friendly, with several reminders around the store and downstairs area to refrain from foul language.
