    Burnt end rib

Small flavorless overpriced proportions. Three burnt ends and less than 10 barely meated ribs in a Large. The baby back were sour and very dry. Watery tasteless beans. Only 8 greasy chicken wings that came with 3 dehydrated thin celery sticks along with a disgusting dressing that can't be called 'blue cheese' because there were no chunks in the serving. They certainly didn't learn anything or care the same as the prior EH generation. Avoid and go elsewhere.

Baby back rib meat was tough. Store bought beans straight from a can. Slaw was unremarkable. Not a serious BBQ place.

First off let's talk about the dishes they offer com... The combination platters are worth it in terms of price and portion, and when it comes to taste and quality, absolutely exceptional! Ricky really takes passion in what he does. His pulled pork is so moist and tender and so rich and flavor. The ribs are so soft and melt in your mouth and absolutely flavorful. As for the brisket, simply unreal. The perfect amount of crunch on the outside with such moist meat inside. The size are just as delicious, the baked sweet potatoes are so full of flavor and the mac & cheese is quite tasty, but I do wish it was much creamier, as I myself like a mean, creamy mac & cheese, oozing with cheese, and this one doesn't quite have it, but it does have good flavor. The baked beans scored well too. This place does hot offer inside seating, with about six tables. Beverages are not typical of New Haven as they do not offer Fox and Park but typical soda is such as Sprite, Coke and iced teas. Out of all the barbecue places we have visited, this one by four brings the biggest bank to your buck while I'm not infringing on taste and quality. This is a little bit of a hike for me, but so very well worth it. Staff is great and so proud to do what they do and it shows and tastes it!

So I did get the Brisket, and I also decided on a 1/2# of the Pulled Pork instead of the Ribs. I was underwhelmed with the Brisket, it was dry. Went back inside for some vinegar based sauce, the gentleman provided me some in a small cup. Although the sauce certainly did help flavor the Brisket, it was extremely spicy. BBQ, IMO, should not be spicy. The Pulled Pork was very good though, fresh & flavorful. I suspect that the Brisket was old, from yesterday, based on the lack of flavor compared to the fresh Pulled Pork (and that I had walked in just after Royster's had opened for business this morning). The Pitmaster knows what he is doing, he was just trying to cut corners. I've had plenty of BBQ when I lived in the South, the Pulled Pork was a good as any I had when I lived down there. There shouldn't be that much disparity between the quality of the meats. Disappointing, because it's hard to find real Q North of Mason-Dixon line. Inconsistent makes me ponder on whether I want to come back again a 2nd time. Maybe, maybe not. Now I'm indecisive, not good. So for now, I have to give Royster's BBQ Company in Cheshire a weak 3 Star rating. If I'm in the area and get a chance to drop in again, I'll post an update.

Tried to order online and it was super confusing. $10 extra for spare ribs FYI on the meat combo. We ended up calling because it didn't specify that on the website and we weren't sure. When calling he didn't give us a total so it was in fact $10 extra for that so that was a surprise picking up. $70 for 3 combo meals. Pretty pricey. They give you a nice "tray" to take your food so that was nice. Atmosphere a bit odd. I'm in food service...so it was a bit gross that the owner was pouring bbq sauce from a large vat into small bottles right by the front where your customers are walking in (should be done in the back) and I believe there was a dog bed on the floor. Ok onto the food. My mom's spare ribs were red. Definitely not cooked enough. She was worried she could get sick. She called and he said that's how they are supposed to be cooked but she ended up throwing them out. The sides were unfortunately not good either. Mushrooms and mashed potatoes overpowering smoke flavor and very salty. Pulled pork ok. Bbq sauce not very good either. Mac and cheese lacked flavor.

We got our soup bases first, rice, then meats, seafood, veggies, and noodles, everything arrived quickly and stayed stocked. Service was great and our waitress Dana was nice. A few things were disappointing though: the grill wasn't centered on the table and kept turning off, which made cooking a little frustrating and cramped. This location also doesn't offer crab legs (even though we saw them online), which was a big letdown for my daughter. The sauce/appetizer station was just wack, the dessert area was really lacking no ice cream, only sponge cake and some stale looking popcorn. Dana did bring our table 1 cupcake, which was sweet of her. Overall, we had fun and left full after about 1.5 hours, (limit is 2) but the desserts, missing crab legs, and grill issues make me not want to return. The food itself was fresh and flavorful, though, and service was fast and friendly.

Ribs: not meaty at all what was there was not tender. The sauce was fine. Fries: I was told they cut the fries fresh themselves. That's believable however I don't think they were cooked to order. A bit soggy. Corn bread: was more like corn cake. I like cornbread with some texture. My friend had the ribs too with sides of corn and Cole slaw. Apparently those sides were pretty good. Four stars for the staff and two stars for the food.

The drinks were also pretty good. I'd give them about an 8 out of 10, so no complaints there. Where things became frustrating was with the Build Your Own burger pricing. The base burger (1/2 lb charbroiled beef) was $14.95, which seemed reasonable at first. However, I was surprised to see how quickly the price climbed once a few basic toppings were added. Here's how the burger ended up breaking down: Base burger: $14.95 Bacon: $6.00 Fried egg: $4.00 American cheese: $1.95 Mayo: $1.00 That brought the burger to $27.90 before tax, which is nearly double the base price for what most people would consider a fairly standard bacon, egg, and cheese burger. I understand charging for add-ons, but $6 for bacon and $4 for a fried egg feels excessive, and it was surprising to see the cost climb that high so quickly. Overall, the service was great and the drinks were solid, but the burger pricing left me pretty disappointed. It is safe to say that if I were to return to this restaurant, I would not be selecting a burger again.
