Aside from the many pieces that you'll see, you will also have chances to admire the wild life. They've done a good job at keeping the trails clean, wide, but you'll encounter many types of terrain so, I suggest hiking with boots. Also, take it all in and take your time. Don't forget to look up, as well. I will try to enjoy the conservancy in every season, to see how it changes and gives back to us.

This is the brand new SGI-USA Buddhist community center for NJ opened Summer 2016. After decades of…read morethe East Orange center operating as the sole center for NJ, this expanded facility truly shines as its successor. There are daily activities going on in the center and every Tuesday evening there is an introduction to Buddhism open to anyone. This practice has saved my life in so many ways, enriches it daily and helps me to be the best person I can be while recognizing the goodness in others. Nam Myoho Renge Kyo It's the chant of the Sokka Gakki Buddhist. It's meaning: to embody the mystic law of cause and effect through our voice. A brief introduction below from the website. www.sgi-usa.org The essence of Buddhism is the conviction that we have within us at each moment the ability to overcome any problem or difficulty that we may encounter in life; a capacity to transform any suffering. Our lives possess this power because they are inseparable from the fundamental law that underlies the workings of all life and the universe. Nichiren, the 13th-century Buddhist monk upon whose teachings the SGI is based, awakened to this law, or principle, and named it "Nam-myoho-renge-kyo." Through the Buddhist practice he developed, he provided a way for all people to activate it within their own lives. Shakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism, first awoke to this law some 2,500 years ago. Discovering that the capacity to transform suffering was innate within his own life, he saw too that it is innate within all beings. Nam-myoho-renge-kyo could be described as a vow, an expression of determination, to embrace and manifest our Buddha nature. It is a pledge to oneself to never yield to difficulties and to win over one's suffering. At the same time, it is a vow to help others reveal this law in their own lives and achieve happiness. Nam comes from the Sanskrit namas, meaning to devote or dedicate oneself. Myo can be translated as mystic or wonderful, and ho means law. This law is called mystic because it is difficult to comprehend. What exactly makes it difficult to comprehend? It is the wonder of ordinary people, beset by delusion and suffering, awakening to the fundamental law in their own lives and realizing that they are inherently Buddhas able to solve their own problems and those of others. Renge means lotus blossom. The lotus flower is pure and fragrant, unsullied by the muddy water in which it grows. Similarly, the beauty and dignity of our humanity is brought forth amidst the sufferings of daily reality. Further, unlike other plants, the lotus puts forth flowers and fruit at the same time. This illustrates the principle of the simultaneity of cause and effect; we do not have to wait to become someone perfect in the future, we can bring forth the power of the Mystic Law from within our lives at any time. Kyo literally means sutra and here indicates the Mystic Law likened to a lotus flower, the fundamental law that permeates life and the universe, the eternal truth. To chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is an act of faith in the Mystic Law and in the magnitude of life's inherent possibilities. Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is not a mystical phrase that brings forth supernatural power, nor is it an entity transcending ourselves that we rely upon. It is the principle that those who live normal lives and make consistent efforts will duly triumph.

If you think your foster needs to see a vet, they immediately respond and take care of the bills. They have spent thousands in their very first year as a rescue on surgery for sick puppies. This is DEFINITELY the place to rescue a dog from. They are 100% dedicated, honest, caring and in the rescue business for all of the right reasons!!!

I'm a person living with a disability, seeking a non-service companion to join my family with my…read moreaging service dog. HEAR was aware of this via my application and references. I reached out to HEAR as was very interested in a pup with body language that appeared to be a good match with my needs. I entered the adoption process, got all three of my references confirmed, and completed a virtual home visit. I wasn't informed I was approved for adoption from HEAR until the dog I had specifically applied for and met via a virtual visit was adopted. Within 18 hours of my confirmed meetup I was informed my potential match was adopted to someone else. Prior to this, I was not informed I was competing for the match. Had I had advance notice, might've made other arrangements as per my disability, but I wasn't offered the chance. I've volunteered for and dealt with more than a dozen rescue agencies in my region as an advocate, volunteer and supporter. None of the agencies I've worked with have been less transparent than HEAR. No one wants to be in the position of visualizing a potential family member in their lives, and planning for that hopeful first meeting, only to have them cancelled from the equation--removed with no notice of other variables. I've requested my adoption application with HEAR be closed, as I would never recommend anyone who wishes to ethically enter a relationship with a rescue rely on HEAR for the availability of the hopeful companion, or transparency in general. UPDATE: HEAR says I responded to the proposal of a meet with the potential adoptee that I'd rather garden than meet the dog. That is absolutely not true. In fact, I planned the meet time, inquired of the flexibility when planting became a factor (+my disability+preparing a single household retirement farm,) and then CONFIRMED the original meet time after contacting HEAR. I very clearly confirmed my motivation and intent to meet and spend time with this sweet boy, Relish. Additionally, all three of my references, as well as my landlord returned contact immediately upon notice of inquiry. There was never a delay since initial inquiry, and never a delay from the original stated meet time, simply an inquiry that was abandoned. Still, the sweet boy was adopted out from under me. I had already I could've said, "I'm a retiring teacher, single-female farmstead, single-female household with a disability." But I thought my work, home and personal references would speak for themselves, as well as my documented bond with a service dog, the 193 acres of parkland immediately outside my residence, and my shared documentation of approximately 250 of my neighborhood dogs. Yet, here we are. All I'm saying is, I've dealt with much more ethical agencies. It's HEAR's opaque--and possibly discriminatory--practices that might hurt their ability to adopt, not this honest review. Or, maybe discrimination isn't even a consideration when a perceived power over "goodness," paired with a tax exemption on high-mortgage and highly taxed properties are paired. Until they learn from this, don't expect much from HEAR except a few cute puppies and tax deduction from their home "rescue" expenses.
