Quite a few individuals,…read moreincluding ourselves, visited the Elmwood Park Multi-Cultural Festival Street Fair on Market Street to check out vendor markets, interactive activities, art demonstrations, games, and food trucks at an all-in-one-day event. Just in time for lunch, one of us ended up getting a waffle cone with chocolate ice cream and chocolate syrup. From one of the food trucks, Carinderia on Wheels ordered the veggie pancit and veggie spring roll (lumpia). Carinderias (Tagalog: karinderya) are small Filipino eating establishments, typically in a market or by the roadside. Pancit is a classic Filipino recipe consisting of an easy stir-fried rice noodle served with snow peas, cabbage, and carrots. It was tasty and not greasy or messy. The spring roll has a crepe-like wrapping and comes with carrots, green beans (string beans), bean sprouts, and cabbage. The accompanying dipping sauce is made from vinegar with some chopped chili, garlic, and soy sauce. It had a kick and complimented the roll. Just a day well spent!

She is a diabetic and is also unable to walk and even then she gets no attention. Recently her sugar has been dropping and no one goes to help her or do anything to help regulate her sugar. They change her once every 12 hours! As a human being that can't get up and use the restroom for herself. I would assume that she gets changed every couple of course but no she's forced to sit in her chair or bed urinated or soiled on for hours on end. We went two weeks ago and went almost every day and we see how the rest of the patients on her floor are treated. Very sad how the patients are talked to and yelled at. The owners worry about what food the patients are eating because it is a Jewish facility. What the owners need to do is make sure every patient they are supposed to be caring for they are receiving money from each person is cared for and given the care and attention they deserve. When the "owners" were there last week everyone at the front desk when you walk in was super polite and nice but it's all fake. And they know it as well. They do know exactly what goes on in their facilities. They just like to collect their checks and not pay for enough staff to well equip this location to give their patients the level of care needed. The floor my mother in law is on is for more dementia patients which my mother does not have she is 100 percent of sound mind, remembers everything and is able to tell us what goes on there. I saw nurses leave patients in the hallway in their wheelchairs yelling at them. The patients are going to argue because of the illness they have but, the staff should be better trained or have more staff to better deal with every patients needs. My husband and I are currently reporting this facility to the state and looking for another placement for my mother in law. Again we have reported this facility many times and nothing is done. When we were present the lights were out in the rooms and this is a regular occurrence. How do you have patients in the summer with the power no AC and no one ever has any answers. But, when it's time to cash a check and the owners receive my mother in laws check every month they know how to do that. I would really warn anyone trying to put their family here because though I don't blame only the staff because I'm sure they are under staffed but the owners know what they are doing this center does not provide the level of care they advertise they give to their patients. Beware and take heed before placing any family member here. It's honestly sickening the level care my mother in law has personally received here. I will continue to report this facility and every time my mother in law complains I will report it to the state of NJ. If they are unable to give the patients the care they deserve then stop accepting the money and patients because it's not fair to the family members that trust them with caring for our family and then having to worry because there is always something going on. It is not right and the owners getting to hide behind their religion is the biggest disgust of all for me.

The day they were coming to pick the stuff up, they called and asked to make it a half hour earlier. Fine. I had to leave work a lot earlier than planned but they were taking the stuff so I figured I'd do right by them. I get home and they're already there before they were supposed to be. The driver texts a picture of the table to his boss who says, "nah". So now I took extra time off work, hoofed it home, only to be stuck with putting all the stuff back in the garage except an end table and a painting (which I threw in because I didn't feel like selling it). I told them to leave the painting and end table and the driver (who was probably mid-20s) got in a huff. He started walking away so I asked him for his manager's number to which he mumbled without even turning around, "call the number online". The older gentleman who was helping him was much more polite and professional. The driver on the other hand was completely unprofessional. Add onto that the fact that I took off more work to make their lives easier only to have them refuse my donation and my experience with Habitat for Humanity could only be summed up as horrible.

This is a wonderful place to bring the whole family. They have about 12 different trails, all…read moreseparated in different levels of difficulty. The trails are free to enter but they do request for volunteer donation for non members. Different tiers of annul membership available to purchase at main office that comes with some wonderful perks, such as free access to trails and special events. The main office also has some of the exhibition items like insect box and turtle box. Outside the office there's also bird and butterfly cages. We went to the center for our daughter to participate in butterfly feeding event. Upon arrival we found out we had to buy the tickets for one of the two scheduled events. Luckily there were slots available to the second event on the day. The ticket was reasonably cheap, only $8. It also came with an additional bird's exhibition that took place right in front of office deck. All the stuff members were very friendly, informative and interactive. We spent wonderful couple of hours here on beautiful warm summer day.
