My Wife was thrilled to find The Legendary Pink Dots at Record Exchange.

It's great to have the Exchange back. It's not quite where it used to be. They no longer carry video games and other stuff, just records. The selection is still a bit sparse but it takes a while to stock back up. Store has ample room for more racks eventually. The records epoxied into the floor is clever as is the great custom made sign on the front of the building. The best part about Record Exchange is their prices. They are easily 10-20% less on used AND new vinyl compared to other stores in MD & NoVA. Make sure to get your frequent buy punch card punched for even more discounts.

    Very cool collection.

I always find myself at The Record Exchange whenever I visit Downtown Frederick. Looking for a vinyl or a few throwback cd's? They probably have it. This place is very unique with different vinyl covers in the ceiling so don't forget to look up! It's very organized and not difficult to find what you're looking for. It can be overwhelming with the amount of records they have in stock but it's fun to browse and relive the throwback bits. They also have a wide collection of movies and tv seasons available. The people at the counter are usually very approachable and friendly! Prices are reasonable and hard to beat. Prepare to spend at least an hour in here because you never know what gem you could find.

Movies, records and much more. The Record Exchange is a gem located in the heart of historic downtown Frederick. After several visits in recent months, I'm hooked. Their selection of old (and new) school records, CDs, DVDs, etc., is excellent and their prices are so cheap. Off-street and garage parking nearby & lots of other great shops, restaurants in the area to check out while you're there.

I was surprised to see that there is a record exchange in Frederick. Prior to today, I thought the one in Silver Spring was it. Anyhow, this is pretty much a hipster joint. Record Exchange has a good selection of vinyl, cassettes, and retro games. I didn't expect to buy anything today, but I scored a gem! I bought Eskimeaux's first album Two Mountains.

My first record store day purchase. Aimee Mann's new album on vinyl. Great price!

This Antique Marketplace is large and in charge. I literally can't believe I've never been here…read moreuntil recently. When antiquing in Frederick, I usually tend to stick to the downtown corridor. A fatal flaw Apparently, there are large and plentiful antique stores outside of the downtown corridor. Who knew!? I only had a little bit of time to go through, so I can't wait to go back and go through with more of a fine tooth comb. I ended up getting a very nice art deco wooden box and a WW2 uniform. I was sort of thinking about last minute halloween costumes honestly ( it was right before Halloween when I went). I ended up defaulting to my Star Trek costume though lol. Much more comfortable. I will say, it took me QUITE a long time to check out. There was a group of four people ahead of me, they were all together, but they did different transactions. With the system that the cashier has, it really takes a long time to process each item it seems. Maybe something they might want to consider adjusting to just streamline the check out process. I really think I was waiting about 20+ minutes to check out. Overall, I'd like to go back. I'll just make sure to leave a much longer period of time to be able to look through the store properly... and also to check out lol. Note: Most of the stuff in here isn't really finer antiques. This is more mid range stuff, and I can't imagine if you're a collector that you won't find something.

Not too crowded which I liked as it can get pretty tight since there's many books and many shelves. Service was fine although I didn't really talk to many people while there (was more preoccupied with finding the books and checking them out). I'd say this place has great value as the books i got (3) were charged a total of just under $5. I can see why the staff put up flyers stating to be mindful with how many books the customers get as they're priced pretty low, allowing you to collect a decent amount. I'll definitely be back to check this place out again :)

Want three aisles of kids books like Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys? Go here. Need every book C.S. Lewis wrote? Stop by Second Story Books. After visiting nearby ZavaZone with our seven-year-old daughter, we stopped into Second Story for a few minutes, which easily turned into an hour. Every book is 50% off. We left with 15 books for just under $21. The books are well organized and maps help navigate visitors to each section, but know that the warehouse's narrow book aisles can get cramped. It adds to the appeal! There are even harder-to-find rooms with other items like posters for sale. They also sell CDs and DVDs. Staff are helpful. I lost my wallet and within an hour a staff member messaged me on Facebook letting me know they found it and it was safe at the checkout desk. If you have used books, Second Story Books buys them from people.

The second he read off to me about the photos and the reviews. I said OK let's switch the GPS to go to this location. To say "I'm glad I went" would be an understatement. When we first arrived, I quickly realize it's a small town that it's located in but a warming aesthetic, standing from the outside looking in you can just tell it's nothing but treasures awaiting to be found. From the warm greeting from Tom himself, down to him taking notice to the people that walk in and placing a track on the player they may like or even if they ask for certain artists record, he will go and run and put that on for them which I thought was extremely caring, but it also let me know how much he cares about the people who come in, what he do, and how his store is ran. He was kind enough to recommend places for my husband and I to visit in London for our honeymoon. I really enjoyed mingling with other people who share alike interests in this shop. Tom has created a great community place to meet new people and perhaps make new friendships. I adore all he has in his shop its the black hole of records or doom scroll of records lol. I drive 1hr and 7 mins from Maryland just to come to this store; Rock and Roll Graveyard is a great 36min spot from me but this one I fell in love with. Thank you Tom!

Almost everything is identical as to when they really were growing. That can be said about this location. It felt like it was built a long while ago and they haven't done anything to update it as of yet. Obviously the sections have changed a bit in terms of size and what is offered overall. I found it surprising that they still had a vibrant DVD section (although I am sure they switched over to Blu-ray). The café in the store was going strong while I walked through. I will have to say that my purpose from coming in here was to take a trip down memory lane, and that was about it. I didn't need a book, or magazine, I just wanted to dip my toe into a bit of nostalgia.
