I loved the products they used, and I always appreciate a great blowout. Everyone was so friendly. Parking in front of the store is limited, but there's a large garage right next door. Highly recommend this place!

I arrive to see all black stylists so I'm optimistic. The stylist sits me down then proceeds to say "so we don't have a sit under dryer to dry your hair... do you want wet braids?" I confusedly said no I don't want to leave the salon with wet braids. So then she says "ok well we have a way of washing your extensions without getting your braids wet" meaning that they wouldn't WASH MY SCALP. I ask who goes to get their hair washed and doesn't wasn't their scalp cleaned. And why wouldn't you tell me you don't have a sit under dryer when I spoke with you on the phone so I didn't waste my time coming here?! She tells me "well some people don't mind having wet braids..." wet braids lead to mildew in your hair. And regardless of what people are ok with, as licensed cosmetologists, you should want to provide healthy services and/or make it clear your limitations before you waste people's time. I should have just continued to assume that dry bar wasn't for black people. Instead they proved that to me themselves.

I had a really, really terrible experience at this salon recently. I scheduled an appointment for…read more5:30 (a few days in advance), and I've only ever been to the location on Eastern Ave -- I didn't even know they had a second location. That should've been confirmed over the phone when I made the appointment. If you know you have multiple locations, you should say that so people don't get confused. I scheduled to get a hair dye, and even I know dye jobs usually aren't done super late in the day, but I specifically talked about it during the call. I explained exactly what I wanted and even asked about different options. If dye services aren't something you do later in the day, that should've been made clear when I booked. So I leave work early, deal with traffic, and show up to the Eastern Ave location -- only to be told I'm at the wrong place. I was upset. How was I supposed to know? That's the only location I've ever been to. I've never dyed my hair with them before either. The lady there called the other salon and told them I was coming, and I could hear the person on the phone saying just to get there quickly. I'm not even from this area, so I'm trying to figure out if the address she gave me is right. I tell her it says it's 30+ minutes away -- am I going to get there and still be seen? She says yes, they'll wait. So I drive all the way over there -- wasting gas, time, and having already left work early -- just for them to tell me they're closed. I asked who she spoke to. I asked why they didn't just tell me not to come instead of having me drive all the way there for no reason. I had an event I needed my hair done for, and now I'm being told no, they're not going to do anything? I called the original lady back and told her they said no. She puts me on hold for more than 10 minutes, so I hung up. She later calls back and offers for me to come in the next day, but honestly... this isn't how you treat people. If they don't take anyone after a certain hour, why tell me to come knowing I wouldn't make it in time? I clearly asked, "Are you sure?" multiple times. I don't like wasting my time, gas, or energy. Honestly, I felt like the way I was treated was racially motivated. I've felt this before at certain predominantly Hispanic salons -- they'll take our money, but they don't have the professionalism to treat Black clients with respect. The way they spoke to me was rude and dismissive, and it was nothing like the first time I'd gone to the Eastern Ave location. I won't be going back. The customer service is terrible, they don't confirm appointments properly, and they'll tell you yes just to get you off the phone. Beware before wasting your time.

Absolutely horrible experience! I never write reviews and surely never want to put anyone down,…read morehowever I left in tears so I NEED to be let people know. I had Joey do my hair and not only did he blow dry my hair extremely loose and lazy , he starts flat ironing my hair as it is still WET! I had to ask him twice to blow dry the back a little more after he sizzled the back of my scalp. Now most people would have gotten up & left at that point, but I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt to finish and do better. BAD IDEA he burned me the entire sitting over and over again. I literally had to get up and walk to the bathroom twice to keep myself from crying and or throwing the wine glass they gave me as complimentary. My scalp burned so bad the entire time and i was miserable. Finally after he was "done" he takes a pomade stick and puts in all over my edges and combs it through the front of my hair. Keep in mind he didn't touch the my edges with any heat not even the blow dryer saying he's about to give me some "baby hairs". I looked like a grease monkey leaving the shop and by the time I got home all the grease soaked into my edges and turned into a puff ball. I had to wash my hair and do it again myself. DO NOT GO TO THIS MAN! (ONLY reason i rated 1 star is because 0 isn't an option)

I would give A-List beauty no stars if I could. I hired them for hair and makeup for my wedding…read more The trial could not have gone worse. It. Was. A. Joke. A lot of these places have you pay a significant amount of money to do a trial (like $500) because it creates a psychological motivation to continue to do business with them (the sunk cost fallacy). Ladies do not be victim to this- even if you paid $500 and the trial goes poorly, do not give them more money! I paid the non refundable deposit to Ariel Lewis, and gladly paid another company $1,500 just to not look (and more importantly FEEL) like I did after my trial with A-List. The other company was professional, kind, used actual beauty products (see below), let me watch what they were doing, and were friendly. Find a company that works with you for your big day. Not works you for the paycheck. Hopefully this will save you the $500 trial with A-List: Let's start with hair. The biggest red flag was that she wouldn't let me watch while she was doing my hair so that I could be "surprised" - I was surprised all right. She admitted to me she had not looked at the inspo pics they asked me to send in, and asked to see them. She looked at the first one and said "K I got it." She didn't have it, because what was created was a departure from my looks. It wasn't a terrible style if it had been done well. I mentioned concern about the longevity of the look day of, and she said confidently it would last even though I could feel the pins slipping. I said repeatedly my hair texture is fine and doesn't hold curl. She said "Not the way I curl" and then put wax in it to "help." Everyone with fine hair knows wax weighs it down. It did not last. Not even through 90 min minutes of sitting still and getting makeup done (much less a whole wedding...). My trial was done at 11:30am and by 1:30pm my hair had fallen out of the bun into the two sad looped pony tails she had used to create the look, and was in straight tendrils around my face. Not a curl in sight. Even the initial finished looked was frizzy and you could obviously see pins. The best part was that the A-List makeup trial was after hair and she came in and asked "what time my hair trial was?" hahah. "Oh you couldn't tell it just happened? Your teammate just gave me an updo, obviously!" Lol Next was makeup. Ladies. They used E.L.F products. Correct- the products you buy for your nieces and occasionally find at the dollar store. I get it, this isn't the main event, it's just the trial so maybe they use different products day of? If so, that negates the purpose of the trial... I want to have my shades matched and confirmed which is part of the trial one would think. I paid for airbrush makeup- she did zero prep the skin. She pulled the machine out and started spraying- didn't even pin my face framing hair pieces back so there was a distinct line not blended around my face where my hair had been. The airbrush went on cakey and flakey and actually aged me about 10 years. It's not for every skin type so that's part of it, but at least try and prep the skin. I sent Hailey Bieber natural dewey inspo and she did old church lady rosy pink cheeks I am not kidding. Bright. Pink. And round. I looked like a toy soldier, even after I asked her to keep blending. The whole thing was a joke. It also didn't last despite paying for airbrush- which I was grateful for because I would not have gone out looking like that. When I reached out to Ariel Lewis to tell them I would not be using them for my wedding and talk about how disappointed I was, I was intercepted by an admin. Interestingly, I didn't ask for a refund but the very first thing the admin said when I said I wouldn't be moving forward was that I wouldn't get a refund. This exchange told me a lot about how they do business and their priorities. I asked to speak to Ariel to provide feedback. I never heard from her. Guess it's on me to keep reaching out? I was then told I could do the trial again with the same artists. Nah I'm good... If it were my business with my name on it- I would be embarrassed by this. Pics below of hair. I didn't want my face out there on the internet so I didn't post makeup. So- ladies, save yourself the money with A-List. Unless you want a good laugh- My Maid of Honor was there and we still get out the "after" pictures so we can have a good chuckle over wine. I hope this saves another bride the stress and money I wasted on the A-List.

Very POOR Customer Service. Extremely POOR communication. Why does a company refuse to list itself…read moreon Google? So they can avoid all the negative reviews. So it's not a surprise that A-List has no Google listing and minimal reviews available... do the math. It doesn't add up to a reliable and professionally behaving company.
