In common with all pubs of this name there is a local train station within spitting distance; in this instance it's West Wickham, on the slow and winding village line from Hayes into London Bridge.
It's handy spot for pre or post transport liquified refreshment, but not somewhere I would want to make my final destination really; a bit towny in the evening.
That said, when the weather is shining, as it was on Sunday, the beer benches stretch round from front to back, so ensuring maximum sun soaking.
Though service was as slow as the train route, bland Carling came in at a sparkling £2.45 a pint and there is a tempting well priced menu with a mixture of standard pub fayre and chain pub replica tapas; don't expect michelin stars, but I'm sure it does the job.
