Amongst the many chavvy pubs and bars along Bromley High Street (including the Walkabout which is…read moreright next door), The Partridge stands alone as a friendly, inviting pub which has a warm and friendly atmosphere with nary a chav or teenager in site. Albeit, I'm only 33 and my husband and usually feel like we're amongst the youngest of the crowd, but it's worth the trade-off when compared to most of Bromley's other drinking establishments. The building itself is a former bank, and the owners of The Partridge have turned it into a very attractive place for a drink and a meal if so desired. While the food is slightly pricier than your average Wetherspoons, it's worth the extra couple of pounds for decent grub. The beer garden could stand to be a bit bigger as tables get filled quickly in the summer. That said, if you want a place to go in Bromley for a relaxing drink, decent music played at not too high a volume and without the fear of being beaten up by local yobs, The Partridge is your best bet.

That's because, away from the very pleasing Otter Ale, they serve some pretty great looking food. On the boards, I saw pig's head, which according to my chum who had just eaten it, was amazing. Alas, I can't personally vouch for it as I was only drinking and staring at the various mounted animal heads on the wall (great boar's head folks). The vibe inside is all wooden and dimly lit, which personally, I think makes for a perfect drinking den. If you're a stalker of some kind, it might be worth putting this place on your stalker map (stalkers, I assume, have special maps with pins in and the like). Known drinkers here include the not-so-impressive Adrian Chiles and the properly famous Hugh Grant, who I'm told is a fan of Twiglets. There's a small smoking section with seat which is pretty cool and an especially rude cat called Lily who I found rather endearing in its aloofness. Basically, this is a bit of jewel of a pub, although, some of the prices for beer can be a little off-putting. Definitely worth a trip though.

Nothing too spectacular or spectacularly bad about this place, I'd rather go here than some of the characterless chain pubs towards the bottom end of the high street. Ordering a hamburger from the menu it arrives fifteen minutes later with a grilled sesame seeded bun with melted cheddar cheese over the burger, under the burger lies sweet thai chilli sauce which after the first bite leaves a sweet softness in the sides of the mouth,. The burger is well cooked and comes with chips which are thick, fluffy on the inside and crispy. Overall for value of money for food and service in the quiet afternoon i would go back again.
