The trimmings for the carvery had clearly been out under the heat lamps for a long time. The stuffing was as dry our as you could possibly imagine and the 2 trays of potatoes were dried out and hard as wood from the length of time out under the heat lamps, once you cracked them open however they were fluffy and tasty inside. They could have been nice when they were first put out (obviously a long time earlier) The veg was ok, the mustard and horseradish were crusted over. A young lady asked us what we wanted for dessert, we said we hadn't seen a dessert menu. She seemed very put out and asked if we wanted to see the menu and gave us a piece of note paper with the desserts written on. When she came back to take our dessert order she swang a chair round from the table next to ours and sat at our table to take our order. We assumed at first that she must be pregnant and need to sit when she could but she didn't appear to be. The desserts (2 ice creams and a brownie) took forever to come but were nice when they arrived. We kept going to the bar to ask for the bill and after 20 mins we all went to the bar on our way out in a final attempt to pay the bill. £170 including 'service charge'!!! The cheek! At no point were we shown a menu detailing the service charge policy or told about it at the billing stage. If the service was good we wouldn't have minded but it was really bad. We wanted to tip the lady with the pink hair that looked after us but NOBODY else deserved a tip but they automatically added a service charge to the bill that we had to ask over and over and over again for so we didn't have a choice. We'll never go there again.

The new landlords have obviously spent a lot of time and money renovating this landmark pub and have done a cracking job. Both the interior decor and beer garden (and even the washrooms) have been fitted out to a high standard. I was recently staying with family in Eltham (during an Olympic test event at Royal Artillery Barracks just up the road) and we popped in for an afternoon drink, and to escape the rain! We were warmly greeted by Dave the manager who showed us into the lounge area, furnished with leather armchairs and a huge sofa. After looking over both the bar menu and restaurant menu we decided to stay for food and moved into the restaurant side. My 8oz sirloin steak was perfectly cooked and, at just £9.99, easily beats the price and quality of a lot of other 'chain' pubs and Carveries. The cask ales on tap included Bombardier and Greene King, good solid London favourites :o) We came back for more at the weekend and I look forward to visiting again when I return for the Olympics. The White Hart is a fantastic family friendly pub that London can be proud of, we desperately need more like it.

As of December 2018, this pub is under new management and have had a big refurbishment. I hadn't…read moreactually been to the pub prior to that so I don't have anything to compare it against but the result of new owners & decor is a winner! The pub was actually recommended to me from a local, otherwise I probably wouldn't have ever gone in. I had a friend visiting and I was trying to think of a local pub easy for us both to get to, here enters the Old Tigers Head! We went for Sunday roast and arrived around 12:40 and the main space was 95% full with only a couple of high tables free. The decor is lovely, great colours and light and modern with nice seating. Staff were very friendly and service was prompt. They do actually have a further room at the back of the pub where you can sit but as it was empty we didn't want to sit in there as there wasn't much atmosphere. The food didn't take long to come out at all and I was pleasantly surprised, it was really tasty. I had the beef Sunday roast and my friend had the vegetable wellington. My meal was really nice, full of flavour and the meat was cooked perfectly. I was actually told it would be served medium rare and come out a bit pink as standard, but it didn't! I was happy with it though as the knife cut right through it. We did intend to get dessert as well, but we chatted so long that we ran out of time! I will definitely return to the pub and will officially call it as my new local. I got the vibe that it was a fresh crowd of people experiencing the pub and there were many families in there too, which I take as a good sign. I'm really happy to have a new local spot where you don't feel like you're intruding on the regular old boys at the bar when you walk in!!

Really nice pub. My first time in considering I live locally…read more It is not noisy. That bares mentioning because I've had enough of music blaring from eateries & disturbing the peace. It's a rustic decor & feels cosy. I like the spacing of tables too. Toilets are in very good order; always a good indicator of the overall hygiene of the place. Food was so good. We had the haddock fishcake & chicken wing skewers to start. My fav were the wings & the spicy, delicious sauce that accompanied them. Wish I had some now. Went for the classic burger and the salmon. Both get 2 yums up. The burger was cooked beautifully medium & nothing more was needed, not even salt or pepper; the accompaniments were great. Service with a smile & no hovering around. Yes, really nice pub. I'll be back!

In the bar area, we were told there were open tables but almost all were reserved, and marked in a not so obvious way. I think pubs in particular should always have a free-sitting area for those who amble in, but that's just me. We had to move around a few times in order to eat.

Absolutely love this pub. But I barely go. I'm to lazy to go that way, that annoying spot. I'm sorry I can't be a more loyal customer, but no. This place has fantastic drink offers, mega cheap. It also has good deals on food, especially a goodun on a pizza. The food isn't too shabby either, just exceeding expectations of pub grub. It's a dark, rock-y-esk bar. Plenty of bonkette and table seating. Pool table and little stage. It makes it the perfect venue for bands, live music and performances. There is a great and large beer garden and quirky toilets. I've always had fast and efficiant service from the bar staff and it's one of those rare pubs where I go in and spend a lot of time choosing what to have. I don't just look at the place and go... ugg whatever, beer please. There is always something that catches my eye. Go marketing team. With a variety of events, there's a lot going on to entice the crowds... perhaps more local crowds.
