Brenda Muir is quite a compact shop - but you'll still find a great selection of outfits. Like many of the other clothing shops along Hyndland Road, it is aimed at women of 30/40+, but that doesn't stop me from heading in and having a browse through some really chic tailored clothing. As well as the clothing, at Brenda Muir you'll also find a dazzling selection of costume jewellery and pashmina scarves of almost every colour. This is a great shop to visit if you're looking for some sophisticated workwear.

I was able to get an appointment for a Friday afternoon by messaging the Facebook page the evening before, with someone getting back to me straight away and getting me booked in easily. It was quiet when I visited, but with the amount of offers - including a cut and blow dry for £12 - they have on their Facebook page I imagine it gets pretty busy outside of lunch time. My stylist was Amy and she did a fantastic job, especially in comparison to other salons in the area. She made sure I was happy with every stage and clearly knew how to deal with curly hair which surprisingly few stylists do! A big plus for me was the fact that she was super speedy, but I still got the exact result I was after. I'll definitely be going back to Little White Studio again for my hair, and I'm keen on trying out some of their other services too!

The one on the half a head dummy looked beautiful, ok my description of the display may not be selling it to you but it was a really pretty and unusual looking piece of jewellery. This shop is probably more mother of the bride by looking at the outfits on display. They do have a good range of accessories, from fasinators, handbags, scarfs and jewellery. The ladies were very helpful and the lady who initially served me got the necklace from the shop window for me. It was a little more than I would have liked to have spent but it really was pretty and would go perfectly with my outfit. So next time you're in Hamilton ladies have a wee look. It does feel very intimate as it's a small sized shop but it's very brightly lit and you can see in through the window display, so I would window shop first before heading in. By the way there's no way you'll get 'Madonna Voguing' here, a wee disappointed but I'll get over it. I just keep it all in my head instead. Vogue!

When you walk in, you clearly get the vibe that this is a university student's frequent haunt. As we shopped here, students came in and out, receive a discount, and generally have their needs met with the types of clothing available. However, the selection of clothes in the store isn't so student oriented that a wider audience won't be able to find something of interest. The first floor is more women's oriented, with tartan featuring prominently. The second floor is men's, which had some decent selections of Fred Perrys and the like. When we were there, the store was staffed just by a couple girls on the first floor, and they were pretty deep in conversation with each other. Didn't bother us at all, but perhaps don't expect to have staff catering to your every need here. But if you just like to do your thing and browse through the racks, you should be well sorted.,

I understand this is a risk with 2nd hand clothing, and places don't accept returns etc, but I do draw the line at paying ~£30 for something I literally can't wear. I messaged their instagram page about it and expressed my disappointment that they weren't willing to reconcile this in any way (I said I felt this was poor customer service) and the message I received back was so cheeky I am honestly in disbelief. So here I am doing the only thing I can do since I've literally wasted my money.

Once inside Jasmine, you might think that everything looks a bit jumbled. Don't let this put you off, though, as it's just because there are so many clothes on offer that they all overlap a little! You'll find clothing ranging from cosy knitwear to party dresses, so it is worth having a bit of a rummage. Also in Jasmine you'll find a great costume jewellery range. I saw some really unusual pieces that would make great gifts (either for other people or yourself....). You'll also find a wide range of hats, scarves, gloves, belts and bags at Jasmine. Admittedly, these clothes aren't aimed towards my age group but even for those who may want to purchase them, I found them a bit expensive. I don't know if I was expecting this place to be along the same lines as Happit, or perhaps more provincial and selling some practical wooly jumpers to help locals brave the elements. It's more designer than the aging fronting of the shop store sign may suggest, and so more expensive. There were a lot of studded jumpers and work trousers downstairs, along wiith a section dedicated to selling insulated jackets and more practical fashions. Upstairs, Wilkies hosts lingerie, bedwear and some designers. The clothing on this floor is more up market and more up to date than that of downstairs. A lot of the clothes up here struck me as being suitable for trendy dinner parties, and some items would certainly suit someone in the process of jazzing up their wardrobe. But with jackets coming in at a cool £150 each, it was hard to see past the price label. This store is undoubtedly handy for locals and is certainly good quality. But if you're looking for something a bit more up to date at a slightly cheaper price, you're probably better going to M&S.
