Like many of the other clothing shops along Hyndland Road, it is aimed at women of 30/40+, but that doesn't stop me from heading in and having a browse through some really chic tailored clothing. As well as the clothing, at Brenda Muir you'll also find a dazzling selection of costume jewellery and pashmina scarves of almost every colour. Once inside Jasmine, you might think that everything looks a bit jumbled. Don't let this put you off, though, as it's just because there are so many clothes on offer that they all overlap a little! You'll find clothing ranging from cosy knitwear to party dresses, so it is worth having a bit of a rummage. Also in Jasmine you'll find a great costume jewellery range. I saw some really unusual pieces that would make great gifts (either for other people or yourself....). You'll also find a wide range of hats, scarves, gloves, belts and bags at Jasmine. Do you know what else? All bags are priced at £30 or less. Bargain! The shoes are just as lovely and just as reasonably priced. Again, a great selection from ugg-style fashion boots to sky high heels and gladiator sandles. The owner, Sarah, is really friendly and will greet you the moment you walk in the door. I am normally a size 8 in most stores-this dress fitted like a peplum top! When sending back the items I made sure this was done within 14 days and have a receipt to prove this. Honey Boutique advised they have not received it within 14 days so I will not be entitled to a refund and they will take a 20% restocking fee! Total joke. They will not accept my proof of postage and advised that I should contact Royal Mail for the refund of £60. I would avoid ordering from Honey Boutique, never had these problems with any online orders from other companies. Currently going through Citezens advise who are assisting me in taking it further and have advised me I am entitled to full refund as I did cancel within the 14 day cooling off period. Have read lots of reviews on other sties about the hassle with trying to get a refund from this company. Nightmare!

I'd say that the clothes sold in Solo would appeal more to ladies age 40+ - but there are plenty of exceptions to this rule, so it's definitely worth having a look anyway. The staff are really friendly and service is obviously a huge priority in this shop. Although it can be a little pricey in Solo - they do have significant reductions in the sales. So keep an eye out for the big red stickers if the shop is normally a little out of your budget!

There are rails filled with pieces that glitter and sparkle, as well as the crinkly and clingy. The lady behind the counter was friendly enough, offering some general chit chat about the weather and excitedly informing me that they had another store just down the road, however I sensed that I was probably the only person who had wandered in here all day from her eager conversation. Q fashions is definitely not my kind of place, however I'm sure it is popular with older broads and barmaids looking to get tarted up for a night on the tiles.

However, I found that this branch was much better! I was greeted as soon as I stepped into the shop by the lady behind the counter. She made conversation and let me have a browse round the shop before asking if she could help me with anything. The dresses were really nicely arranged, and much more accessible than the stock in the other Q Fashions store. This one is much bigger, which really makes a big difference. The dresses were mainly full length. Although they were really lovely - the length did worry me a little! If you're short like me (I'm 5ft3) then you'd probably have a few difficulties with them... However, they did have some shorter and very sparkly alternatives! As well as the dresses, Q Fashions Prom Dresses have a great selection of "fascinators". For those of you who aren't in the headwear know - fascinators are the feathery/flowery headband things that people generally wear for weddings. Overall, friendly service and a really nice selection of dresses - which are a lot cheaper than those that you'll find at Catherine's across the street.

Childish I know...but back in the days of said GH I was often in here buying and selling clothes (this was the days before eBay kids) which was a brilliant idea. I'm not 100% sure they still do that now, but because of eBay (other auction sites are available) I very much doubt they still offer this service. Not a vintage shop as such, more a nearly new shop as I would guess 90% of their stock is (very) new/modern items & a lot appearing to be hardly worn. So I guess I would describe this as a sort of 'vintage' shop for folk that don't like retro styles. You'll find high street & fashion labels such as Top Shop, ASOS, River Island and others as well as the odd Karen Millen & more high end/designer items too. Everything is laid out very well & there's lots of space to wander & browse, it's also got great lighting too which is something some other vintage/2nd hand shops seem to lack. As well as clothes they sell shoes/boots, bags, belts & some jewellery too. Everything is a pretty reasonable price, especially considering the condition of the items. You can pick up some real bargains here if you can be bothered searching (Me = always!). Last time I was in I found 2 dresses I really liked but didn't have enough cash on me to pay for them (Note: they don't take cards here) so they nice lady serving said she would put them aside whilst I went in search of a cash machine (there's plenty on nearby Byres road) and when I returned she very kindly rounded down the price of the 2 dresses saving me a couple of quid! Such a lovely gesture. The staff here have always been super nice & friendly which is always a wee bonus. It's service like that that keeps folk coming back. For trying on clothes they have one small changing area which is better than nowt but can be a pain when the shop's busy, but good things come to those who wait...supposedly! It might be off the beaten (Ruthvern Lane) track but this wee hidden gem is well worth a swatch. Another example of a fantastic wee local Glasgow business.

(I actually prefer the risque name!) The problem with Glorious is that that I NEVER leave without purchasing anything, and that's no exaggeration. If I can limit myself to a fortnightly visit and a maximum of two items purchased I'm doing well. The stock is always carefully selected- lots of on trend pieces, lots of items you missed out on first time round from the High Street, and a nice little smattering of vintage. There's also always a great selection of handbags. I think the prices are extremely competitive too. Its always possible to get two of three items for under £20 but equally you might spot a really special designer piece and pay a bit more for it but still get a bargain. The owners and staff are lovely and always enthusiastic about offering an opinion if needed. They all seem to take great pride in Glorious and subsequently all items for sale are of the highest quality; washed, pressed and ready to be worn. Often this can be a rarity from a secondhand store. Cant recommend this place enough and looking forward to my next pay day!

I've been here a couple of times but never been very inspired by any of the dresses here. I was looking for a dress for my school leavers dance and as I was only 17, I don't think they were sure what to show me, on the one hand I wanted something young and trendy but I also wanted to look classy and sophisticated. They came up with the worst dress I've ever seen in my life, it looked like The Little Mermaid meets Dita Von Teese, it was just bizarre. It had a long tail at the back but the actual dress itself was short with slits up each side. The colour was red with black fish net lace over it, it just looked awful. I honestly cannot think of anywhere that you could have worn that dress unless you were starring in the latest production of Chicago or some burlesque themed theatre show. At £275 it was designed for someone with more money than sense. I think it's still nice to have traditional boutiques such as this one and it does have a very classy feel about it when you go in, but with High Street shops such as Karen Millen and Coast selling gorgeous formal dresses which are a lot more modern and cheap compared to the prices here, I somehow feel that Catherines of Partick is left a bit redundant and is more suited to the mother of the bride look.

It's for these reasons that I have always gone to Pink Poodle when I can. They have designer-direct clothes, which means, yes, they are a bit more expensive, however, you do get the comfort of knowing that it's unlikely someone else will have on the same outfit as you, and also, you know that it's well-made. In addition to those two reasons, it should be enough that finally there is a shop where you can find something that is inherently 'you'; and more of your own style and statement. In saying all of that, however, I feel it's gone a bit down hill in recent months in regards to service. I'm not a frequent enough customer for the sales-people to recognise me, and that's ok. However, when asking for a hand with something, the two people on just looked like they could not be bothered. Disappointing to be sure and I honestly was put off for the rest of my visit because of it. Come on, Poodle, we love you so treat us right.

When you walk in, you clearly get the vibe that this is a university student's frequent haunt. As we shopped here, students came in and out, receive a discount, and generally have their needs met with the types of clothing available. However, the selection of clothes in the store isn't so student oriented that a wider audience won't be able to find something of interest. The first floor is more women's oriented, with tartan featuring prominently. The second floor is men's, which had some decent selections of Fred Perrys and the like. When we were there, the store was staffed just by a couple girls on the first floor, and they were pretty deep in conversation with each other. Didn't bother us at all, but perhaps don't expect to have staff catering to your every need here. But if you just like to do your thing and browse through the racks, you should be well sorted.,

I spent good money (too much) on trousers that had an irreparable defect that I did not notice until I put them on at home. I understand this is a risk with 2nd hand clothing, and places don't accept returns etc, but I do draw the line at paying ~£30 for something I literally can't wear. I messaged their instagram page about it and expressed my disappointment that they weren't willing to reconcile this in any way (I said I felt this was poor customer service) and the message I received back was so cheeky I am honestly in disbelief. So here I am doing the only thing I can do since I've literally wasted my money.
