Absolutely amazing restaurant with incredible food and really friendly service,…read moreThis is Without doubt the best restaurant in Folkestone and defiantly one of the top five restaurants in Kent. The little bistro has a ever changing menu of fresh local produce and a fantastic wine and drinks menu at great value for money, My wife had the fresh crab and dill tart followed by the pan fried fillet of brill that was cooked to perfection with a beautiful butter sauce where I had the Pan seared calves liver with a balsamic reduction followed by the 12oz ribeye steak which was served with fried onions, roasted peppers, sautéed mushrooms and a green peppercorn and brandy sauce. Delicious! To accompany our meal we chose a bottle of château musar. We had never heard of this wine before from the Lebanon but my god what a tasty drop it was it so complemented my steak. For desert my wife had the white chocolate cheese cake. When I asked her how it was she replied orgasmic. I on the other hand had the cheese plate which was exceptional, not you average cheese plate with cheddar and brie there cheese plate had specialist cheeses like Gorgonzola dolce and pie d'angloys. Yum yum what a meal. I can highly recommend this place worth every penny, if you really want to treat a love one of friend this is the place to go, you won't be disappointed.

This place is fantastic, easy walk from Dover Castle and just so happens to be Dovers oldest pub. The menu for lunch is small, feels like it's because they want to do things right. The fish and chips- highly recommend. However unless you are starving I recommend you split it with a friend. When we arrived we were immediately greeted, service was excellent. For families like us, they do have high chairs. They will take your order if you sit inside. There's also an outdoor garden however you need to come to the counter to order. Same with drinks. Each room has a lot of history. Take one look around and there's a lot going on. Apparently this location used to be a part of monastery and has evolved over the years now to a great pub. Each dish we enjoyed, the vegetarian linguine was fresh, chips were delicious and the fish was wonderful. If you're cruising in and need a place for a good meal not too far from the port or to Dover Castle- I recommend you swing on in. Highly casual so you can come as is or for special occasion.

A perfect place to rest and recount our adventures for the day. There were quite a few diners in, and the space seemed a lot larger once inside, with a bar and several rooms to accommodate small and large parties. We were seated near a party of 10! Service was friendly and leisurely, which we welcomed. Only one staff was taking and distributing orders and he advised of the delay in service. The food was delicious and had we more time in town, would likely have dined in again.

We went in and ordered. Still no food for quite awhile. A waitress finally came over and asked us to pay. Odd since we didn't have food. She said you pay first - well no tip for her. I told her the service was very slow and she said she'd check on our meal. Food finally came. We had split a Big Mother Clucker Burger, fries and onion rings. Food was good. We left with no tip as there were at least 5 wait staff and none of them seemed to want to come out to the patio and none seemed very happy to be there. We saw others waiting a long time and it was not a friendly atmosphere.

This is one of the nicest pubs I've tried in a long time - and not just in Canterbury - in general!…read more As soon as you walk in to The Dolphin Inn you can feel the great atmosphere. It's busy, but not too busy - there's a good buzz about the place, without it being too noisy to hear one another - and there's a lovely relaxed vibe that instantly relaxes. Not only does this place serve absolutely delicious pub grub (see my pictures for proof), they also have an assortment of board games available to play, making your visit extra fun! I went here twice during my time here in Canterbury and enjoyed several long games of Settlers of Catan (yes, I know - I'm a geek) with great food and booze. The staff are not pushy and, so long as you have a drink on the table, are happy to let you play on until your heart's desire. We never felt pressured to hurry up and leave, which is always a bonus in these sorts of pubs. On top of this, lost in my game of Settlers and too engrossed in my enjoyment of the game, my phone was sadly stolen off our table. Now this may sound like a negative, however upon telling the staff about what had happened they were so kind and helpful and - thank goodness - a few hours later, called us to let us know they had found my phone (which had been mysteriously returned to the table) and they had it waiting for me behind the bar. Throughout the whole ordeal, they could not have been more helpful, which just made me love this place even more. Please also note that, despite the above story, this pub does not have a dodgy feel to it at all and I was very shocked when I noticed my missing phone! It's not the sort of place you'd generally feel concerned about your belongings going missing - hence my phone sitting freely beside me on the table - so don't be put off by this aspect of my review!!
