Words cannot describe the amazing experience my wife and I had here buying our first puppy! We were a bit nervous with the reviews but decided to give it a shot and super glad we did! Everyone was very friendly throughout the whole process. Even after taking our pup home, the staff was available for help with training. When we were there we noticed a lot of people walking into the store despite the many signs on the doors that say "APPOINTMENT ONLY" as well as on the website. From what I can tell, the staff dismissed whoever walked in professionally. I think there are people on here that take it personally that they didn't read and now can't play with the puppies. I tried going here today with my mom (side note my mom has tried going here prior and wasn't allowed to go inside due to the staff not allowing people to "window shop" you can only view the puppies by appointment only.. as you walk inside you are greeted by basically a barricade that reads "appoint only." So you cannot go more than 3-4 feet into the establishment before you have to turn yourself around because you can't stay without an appointment. We were greeted by the counter person and my mother asked if we could look around if we didn't have an appointment. We were told no.. and when we asked why we were told "if you walk around the dogs will get noisy" we were greeted with attitude and basically told we weren't allowed to shop.. I told the woman she had a bad attitude and the appointment thing needed revising. There was only two other patrons in the whole store.. the prices were written out on a whiteboard as if you ordering frozen yogurt.. the dogs are kept in the window area which is about 6 feet high by 3 feet wide.. they have such strict rules with appointments but then have puppies in areas that aren't big enough for the amount of animals.. the prices are outrageous for the attitude and price u are treated with at the door, never mind the caution tape barricade, it's giving we don't have the energy nor time nor patience to deal with animals nor clientele.. don't waste your time here, they shouldn't even be in business anymore.. poor dogs. read more

I was provided with a brief overview of puppy basics and provided an emergency phone number for any questions. DAY 2: THE NEXT MORNING: Puppy has an outward anal sac and as a new puppy mom, I called all resources including the emergency contact provided by this store - TO THIS DAY, ONE WEEK LATER- no response or follow up. I went to the vet that day and it was determined that the puppy has WORMS and AN ANAL PROLAPSE!! I reached out to the store to request a refund for the expenses of this additional vet visit as noted within their 14 day policy....guess what... NO RESPONSE TO MY EMAIL TO THIS DAY. The puppy was 2x the price that a breeder was asking, but I fell in love with the pup so it is what it is. Don't waste your time here as they clearly just want your $$ and then the transaction/customer service is over. I will update is I ever receive proper customer service. UPDATE: I was reimbursed for the cost of the additional vet visit and medications prescribed to treat my puppy for her anal prolapse and worms. Had a fantastic experience here. The staff at the store CARES. It is apparent in all the actions they take to make sure their puppies are loved, socialized, and healthy. We took home a beautiful lab who has been perfect in every way. The staff wlent above and beyond to be accommodatin, as it took us many visits to commit. My vet was impressed with how well his vaccines were maintained and how healthy and adjusted he was. We had the most wonderful "puppy experience" with The Puppy Experience. We purchased our first dog, a pure breed Maltese from the puppy experience in 2010 and have spent the last 13+ years utterly in love with him with no incident whatsoever, and we recently decided to add another dog to the mix. It had come to our attention that the company had changed hands and we were hoping to have the same experience regardless and I can say with certainty that we have had another incredible experience. Not only do we love our new puppy, but a situation came up regarding the vet that was recommended to us and everyone involved on the end of the puppy experience was polite, informative and did everything they could to make the situation right. Everyone that we interacted with here was knowledgeable and kind and seemed to genuinely care for each and every one of the animals within their care. We loved our experience so much, our mother went two days later and got a dog too. 1. We found the staff very helpful and not at all rude. The current owners purchased the store in 2015, it appears there were some issues with the previous owner. 2. We purchased a puppy at the end of November 2016. One would have to live under a rock not to be aware of the controversy regarding purchasing a dog from a pet store. The big pet store chains have no issues with selling other animals but love to bash smaller businesses that sell dogs. I find this very hypocritical. Why is breeding birds, fish, ferrets, hamsters, reptiles any different than breeding dogs? Why is it wrong for someone to make a living from raising and breeding dogs? Not everyone wants or is able to rescue a dog. Do the dog store haters really think the dog breeders who sell dogs to pet stores a so filled with evil that they all would not care about the dogs they invest their lively hood in? I am not pro-Puppy mill, just an informed consumer. Before I stepped foot into the Puppy Experience I did a lot of research. There were plenty of bad reviews from before the store was renovated. However they are mostly complaints about the staff getting upset if people do not sanitize there hands between dog. Well, yes, they care about the dogs and don't want to spread any disease if one develops. 3. The Puppy Experience was happy to provide the breeder information of our dog prior to purchase. Using a smart phone I was able to verify the breeder was license and recently had their facility inspected by the USDA. Further I pulled up the breeding facility on a satellite map and even look at a street view. I even found the breeders Facebook account. Try as I might I could not find a single cause for concern about purchasing the a dog from The Puppy Experience. Our dog came home happy and health. With a health appetite, solid stool and adjusted well. I have always kennel trained my dogs and was expecting a night of crying on the first night at home. To my surprise our little guy whimpered briefly and went to sleep. He immediately took to his kennel and uses it as his own personal space at leisure. When we brought him to his first check up the only concern was that one vaccination had been given too early. Place is very clean, guests are required to sanitize hands between touching dogs, signs on certain cages for dogs that were new and could not be touched...staff was friendly and helpful. I was hesitant about going into this place at first, reading som negative reviews and personally just feeling uncomfortable with any "puppy mill" kind of places. I went in to look at some cute puppies and see what I thought of the atmosphere and staff. It is very loud, but all puppies are loud. There are signs over every puppy bin "Please Do Not Touch, and Please Sanitize" I thought that was great to see. Many people were touching the puppies, but the staff had a very close eye on any and everyone with hands on the puppies and reminded people to sanitize in between. The staff was very helpful if you had any questions about a breed or particular pup. The dogs in bins right when you walk in are the pups that are brand new, and they strongly will tell you to keep hands away to avoid any potential germs transfered from you to the pup, unless you are a serious buyer of course. I found a perfect Mini Aussie puppy and expressed to a staff member that I was interested in purchasing her. She then told me all about the breed, pulled out a book on the breed, and asked about my life (whether she would fit in well or not). To me it seemed she cared where this sweet puppy will end up. I left without a puppy so I can research potential shelters and breaders on my own. I ended up not having any luck with that and decided to call The Puppy Experience to ask them some personal questions. I asked about all their requirements and laws again puppy mills and what not, I asked what they need to do to be able to keep the store open and how many dogs are unhealthy, I asked exactly where the puppies come from. They were very open and honest about every question I had. They told me that Suffolk County has the most strict laws agains puppy mills, and require frequent visits to ensure everything is done safely and properly. They gave me information on their breeders and how they are required to get photographs, videos, and visits to make sure the puppies are being rasied safely and healthy. All in all, I decided for myself and went back and purchased my sweet little Aussie. I brought her right to the vet, when you purchase a dog they give you a 30 vet pack and allow you to take your dog for free to any of their 3 locations, I personally wanted to take my pup to the vet where I would be taking her for the rest of her life. It also gave me peace of mind knowing I would not have any biased opinions on her. The vet said she was perfect! Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, she was happy and healthy! I am very glad I decided to get her form here. I was very unsure at first, but in reality, the owners and the staff members adore all these puppies and wouldn't want to see them hurting or go to a bad home. That gave me such peace of mind knowing and seeing how they care. If you are unsure about The Puppy Experience, but want a puppy, I suggest you see for yourself and ask your own questions. They're selling sick dogs for profit. They buy from breeders classified as puppy mills on the humane society "top 100 worst breeders" list. When confronted they have no sympathy while the staff interacts with no manners or people skills. (Discussions end in arguments rather than a simple "I'm sorry I sold your toddler a dying puppy"). I will say that they do have a simple return policy but it's pretty pathetic that these people are selling dogs (for thousands of dollars) with CLEAR AS DAY symptoms of NUMEROUS illnesses. We purchased a puppy 7 days after they posted a video of him on their website & YouTube page. In that video the puppy showed severe signs of fatigue. As per their vet (Towne Line Vet Grp) the video strongly suggest signs of Parvo. When we went to Puppy Experience my family sat with this puppy while I spoke with owners Keith & Brian Lewin about him. While Brian explained this pups sister was sick with a cold, Keith quickly shut him up saying it's probably just a runny nose and shouldn't be anything serious. Going with the same judgement that took us to a puppy store to begin with, we paid for him and took him home that night. He was rushed to the vet a few hours later and diagnosed with Parvo, intestinal parasites, severe worms, and the vet said he hasn't eaten or been hydrated in 3-4 days. She was appalled at his condition while amazed he was still alive. They rushed him into the back to administer IVs. When we contacted Puppy Experience the woman who answered was only concerned with the sale sticking and had no concern about the puppy in the vet, the rest of the puppy's in her store, or our 2yr old who spent over an hour in their store last night playing with and falling for this poor puppy. All she cared about was making it crystal clear that REFUNDS ARE ONLY GIVEN IF THE VET DEEMS THE DOG UNFIT FOR SALE. I simply got off the phone with her and called Lewin Medical Supply and asked for Brian or Keith. Brian was the soft hearted one who implied an effort to work with us and do what was best for the puppy. Then later I got a call from Keith with a very different attitude. I guess his former marines kicked in and this telephone tough guy wanted to present his dominance. Speaking like a true jackass to me trying to justify everything that we had experienced and simply offer me a refund. He actually OVER-refunded me a few hundred dollars while asking me not to be like the rest of the upset customers and type reviews all over the internet. All of this could have so simply been avoided had the staff at Puppy Experience known enough about puppy's. Signs of malnourishment, discolored mucus running from eyes and noses, lack of food and water intake, etc. if they used better style flooring in their "state of the art puppy cribs" rather than the wire mesh they've been using then maybe they'd be able to notice blood and worms in their stool. No - Puppy Experience is a disaster. There's nothing more difficult than getting your children a puppy and than telling them a few hours later that the puppy stores vet said your new puppy has been slowly dying and can't come back home with you. BUYER BEWARE!!! Take notice to EVERY REVIEW about this place. The positive ones were written by the owners and their friends while the honest ones were written by their actual paying customers. They really know a great deal about the different breeds which helps if you're unsure of what breed you're looking for. You can tell they really care about the dogs, even after the sale. Went there today and was shocked at what I saw, first the place was dirty and as we were walking around puppies were barking, normal I would say because they are puppies looking for attention. The woman at the front desk with the pink hair was screaming at the puppies telling them to shut up and telling them they are not going to be fed early they have to wait till 4 o'clock, like they understand. They were in crates with no blankets not even a toy to keep them occupied. I have known this place for almost 10 years and the change of staff really sent it down the toilet. I called to make an appoinment to see a Bichon puppy and was given a 2pm appointment. On the phone I was told that a lady had an appoinment at 1:30 but that she wasn't going for the Bichon. We arrived at 1:52 and I politely called, not to intrude before my appoinment time to let them know we were outside and whenever they were ready to let us in. Some boyish looking girl with red hair came to the door who let us in. We inquired about the dog that we wanted to immediately purchase and she told us that the 1:30 people were looking at it by the Yorkie wasn't available, so she offered the Bichon to them. We waited till 2:07 and saw that we were being ignored so we decided to leave. As I walked past the front desk I said, "bye" and that same girl asked, "do you want us to call you for another appoinment if the don't buy him?" Without even looking up to make eye contact. No people skills, no customer service skills, no manners. I told her that on the phone I was told that they weren't coming for the Bichon and that we were ready to buy him at our 2 o'clock appoinment. She denied that her or coworker said that. I then said, "then I must be going crazy," her response "I guess that's the case." I have 3 adults that heard the conversation on speaker phone in the car, plus that the dog was available. I then said, "why is their time not up and it's 2:10? " she looked at her computer screen and froze for a moment, obviously not realizing what time it was. " I then asked, "Where is my 2pm appoinment and why did you give me an appoinment then, when I made an appoinment for the Bichon." " She said, "because you wanted to see the dog." She also had the audacity to say, "Nobody told you to come at 1:50." Hello!, I called you politely just to let you know we are outside and whenever you're ready to let us in. SHE is the one who let us in immediately. So, they make the appoinment, push that specific dog onto someone else to get a sale, and then you drive there to be told "do you want us to call you back for another appoinment?" I finished with telling her that she needs to be more professional at her job and walked out. What a truth-twisting, sneaky (but not bright)disgrace of an employee. Won't get very far. read more

After spending a few months deciding if i wanted to get my first dog, I decided it was about time and went to the puppy experience (my friend bought a dog there when it was still ran by the old owner and had great things to say). My first bad exerperinece was the second I entered the store. The smell was horrible (but i cant really complain about that it is full of animals) and the lady at the front, most likely the owner, just gives us a long list of rules. No hello or how are you just a "read this". After reading, we walked around and were not able to touch 70% of the dogs. When i saw one i really liked i went over to ask questions and i could have found better answers on google then from this lady. I asked about the breeds personalities and she stated all dogs like to be played with and hate being home, meanwhile i was trying to get a better idea on how the played and what they enjoyed The worst part is, people are probably still buying from this horrible owner because she parks her 90,000$ car out front.
