Words cannot describe the amazing experience my wife and I had here buying our first puppy! We were a bit nervous with the reviews but decided to give it a shot and super glad we did! Everyone was very friendly throughout the whole process. Even after taking our pup home, the staff was available for help with training. When we were there we noticed a lot of people walking into the store despite the many signs on the doors that say "APPOINTMENT ONLY" as well as on the website. From what I can tell, the staff dismissed whoever walked in professionally. I think there are people on here that take it personally that they didn't read and now can't play with the puppies. Charlie, our happy now 6 month old Havanese has had a clean bill of health since the day we took him home. He sleeps the whole night, has lots of energy, and is a happy healthy puppy!!

    Cockapoo Puppy

We just picked up our second cockapoo puppy from The Puppy Experience - so that big brother has a sibling (we've had our other dog for 8 years and no issues). Thank You Melissa & Staff for a smooth transition - you obviously work hard and love what you do. The puppies are well cared for and loved. The hardest part for us was deciding which puppy as they are all adorable. Luckily we found our newest addition!!!

Just a follow up to my review 1 year ago. My dogs have been with us for over a year and NOT one single issue thus far . Truly beautiful pugs with perfect temperament as one would expect .

    Tiny Tina our new baby

I highly recommend the puppy experience for anyone looking for a nice healthy dog!! The place is spotless with a large selection of dogs! All the employees went above and beyond to help us before and after we got our new baby I'd also like to acknowledge JENNA she gave me amazing advice and is truly a nice person !! If your looking for a puppy go here first

    1. We found the staff very helpful and not at all rude. The current owners purchased the store in 2015, it appears there were some issues with the previous owner. 2. We purchased a puppy at the end of November 2016. One would have to live under a rock not to be aware of the controversy regarding purchasing a dog from a pet store. The big pet store chains have no issues with selling other animals but love to bash smaller businesses that sell dogs. I find this very hypocritical. Why is breeding birds, fish, ferrets, hamsters, reptiles any different than breeding dogs? Why is it wrong for someone to make a living from raising and breeding dogs? Not everyone wants or is able to rescue a dog. Do the dog store haters really think the dog breeders who sell dogs to pet stores a so filled with evil that they all would not care about the dogs they invest their lively hood in? I am not pro-Puppy mill, just an informed consumer. Before I stepped foot into the Puppy Experience I did a lot of research. There were plenty of bad reviews from before the store was renovated. However they are mostly complaints about the staff getting upset if people do not sanitize there hands between dog. Well, yes, they care about the dogs and don't want to spread any disease if one develops. 3. The Puppy Experience was happy to provide the breeder information of our dog prior to purchase. Using a smart phone I was able to verify the breeder was license and recently had their facility inspected by the USDA. Further I pulled up the breeding facility on a satellite map and even look at a street view. I even found the breeders Facebook account. Try as I might I could not find a single cause for concern about purchasing the a dog from The Puppy Experience. Our dog came home happy and health. With a health appetite, solid stool and adjusted well. I have always kennel trained my dogs and was expecting a night of crying on the first night at home. To my surprise our little guy whimpered briefly and went to sleep. He immediately took to his kennel and uses it as his own personal space at leisure. When we brought him to his first check up the only concern was that one vaccination had been given too early. Mom's immunity would have still been protecting the pup as he would still be breastfeeding. Its been over two months and out dog is in great health!

After reading all the reviews I was hesitant but I found Jenna to be knowledgeable and took time with us. They have rules but, they only to protect the animals and I was ok with that!!! And now we have a cute heathy puppy!!!

Clean, safe, professional place to locate a dog with personality and at affordable pieces in comparison with other long island shots

Visited with my kids to look at some puppies. Place is very clean, guests are required to sanitize hands between touching dogs, signs on certain cages for dogs that were new and could not be touched...staff was friendly and helpful. A large selection of all different breeds...will consider this shop when ready to get our puppy.

That was so NICE! Toby was clean and happy to see me! They even gave him a bath! Helen said that she always watches for tail wagging. Helen and I had a nice conversation. She's really lovely, and truly LOVES dogs. She's very concerned about their health and happiness. I appreciate the fact that she won't just take any dog for boarding without knowing about vet visits, shots, etc, and prefers dogs that she sold. When I arrived, there were larger dogs playing outside, in a fenced area. Toby was waiting for me with his raincoat, toy, and hoodie all bagged up. Helen showed me the outside play area for small dogs, and told me that Toby had been playing with her Maltese, Sophie. I met Sophie :) Then Helen showed me the puppy room. OMG!!! So many absolutely adorable puppies, including Shih Tzus like Toby! I saw poodle puppies exactly like my brother's family dog. Everything that I saw was very clean, and the dogs and puppies looked healthy and well-cared for. I read the bad reviews. I like Helen. I think that if she doesn't want someone to have a dog, she has a reason. My brother's family has had their puppy for about a year now, and he's perfectly healthy. Noisy, but healthy. Helen did advise me about a group of basically criminals (HSUS), which includes people convicted of sexual harassment, embezzling, child sex trafficking, fraud, and racketeering. Interesting. They're supposed to be a humane society. So I wonder if possibly some of these reviews are perhaps not entirely accurate. But I can only speak to my own experience boarding Toby for 9 days, and my brother's family dog.

BEWARE. This place…read moreis definitely a puppy mill and I'm not sure how it's legal. I realized after entering and seeing the amount of dogs and how unsanitary it looked. The lady Helen also immediately upon meeting us declared we would get cancer because we live in a town that has a plume problem and kept referring to us as the cancers, I'm not sure what fifth dimension she lives on but she didn't make much sense the entire time. Luckily I'm fine dealing with unhinged people but being told I'm bound to get cancer because of where I happen to live was top tier sales. This lady wins the award at being rude. We came here because it was advertised as a local breeder with parents nearby and humane. It was anything but humane. We did see a dog we absolutely loved and at this point just wanted to get it out of this situation. When we asked the price she said $1200 at first, that turned into $2000 and when we called her my husband made the mistake of saying we loved the dog and suddenly price was $3500 and I have worked professionally training breeds - it was not a full breed. We were not willing to pay that much to save the puppy from there and felt conflicted because we didn't want to support an institution that treats dogs this way... It should be shut down. It's disheartening to see puppies in such cramped conditions. We ended up finding a local breeder an hour out that raises them in her home and treats her dogs like royalty. We are also paying way less than what she priced her dogs... We would just adopt if we didn't need an allergen friendly dog. We waited patiently for one to pop up on all the rescue groups with no luck...so please don't come at me (trust me I rather adopt it's cheaper). Either way, don't support this woman. She is rude and treats her dogs terribly. She will also price raise at a whim. Your choice.

I expressed it was my first time calling for advice and he proceeded to use a condescending tone to remind me of how uneducated with the process I was Prior to the call I did perform some of my own research through various websites but I figured why not pick up the phone and ask an experienced "professional?". Actually he was not professional at all. He went as far as telling me that it's because of people like me that liters end up at pet stores! Like really? WOW! I wondered if his comments were racially motivated which is not uncommon in that part of CT. However the treatment was just sad I wonder if he would appreciate someone talking to his wife, mother or kids the same way he spoke to me? Just a nasty human being! Shame on you for treating other people that way. I will never allow someone like you to deter me from learning more about what I would expect to be a positive experience.
