I was on town for work and we stumbled across this place - turns out it was a good find! Beautiful palatial looking building with classic decor inside! Definitely a ladies who lunch type of place and with that the service, though lovely was slow but for a lot of the guests, it probably lends to a leisurely lunch experience. Food was very impressive - their fried pickle dip is absolutely delicious!! Loved it and will have to try and find a way to replicate it with a lighter version - it's a must have if you like pickles. Then enjoyed the fish tacos that were so good! Blackened Mahi Mahi that was cooled perfectly and a delicious spicy cabbage slaw!! Fantastic! The pecan chicken was top 10 one of the best meals of my life. It was savory with a hint of sweet but not overpowering and the pasta underneath was divine. It was creamy and paired perfectly with the pecan chicken. The grilled chicken burger was good. It was not salty but seasoned well. The sweet potato fries were crispy and tasted wonderful. Chicken tortellini was good, just the right amount. Soup was creamy and tasty! The service was very nice and the staff was also very kind. Would definitely come back. Had saved this restaurant while planning a work trip and we managed to visit for lunch. It was a great experience from the pickle dip appetizer to the pasta fagioli to the wedge salad! I am currently at this restaurant and I can truly say I have never in my life experienced such rude, inconsiderate and incompassionate staff in my life. I just experienced the worst thing a parent could happen, the loss of my son a month ago. I pray that no one else has to ever go through what I'm going through. Stopped in Victoria to see a friend who was working there this weekend. This is my first time to Victoria, and we were looking for a good place to eat. We thought the variety of food here plus being by the water was where we wanted to be. The pumphouse did not disappoint. I don't know why it doesn't have a five star. First of all Jasmine was our waitress and she was an excellent server. You can really tell she enjoyed her job. We started with appetizers and ordered the asparagus and the fried mac & cheese balls. Both were excellent. If you are thinking, the mac & cheese is going to be gooey gooey, it is not; they are a little dry on the inside with the bacon wrapped around it and crispy, but the jalapeño ranch dip they give with it makes it so delicious. The asparagus was equally as good. We decided to split the pecan crusted. Chicken is a dish they are known for. OMG it did not disappoint. It was AMAZING! The honey and the butter were perfect. I would definitely share, because it was enough food for 2. We also had a salmon which was equally delicious and fresh. We were too full for dessert, but Jasmine did bring out the dessert tray for us to look at and I did tell her that I would definitely be traveling back. I would make room next time for dessert. The chocolate molten lava cake looked amazing. Inside the restaurant was nice and cool, but we went outside during the sunset and it was beautiful and the temperature was great. Went for Sunday brunch. For a upper class looking place and food prices I expected tasty upper class food, it did not meet expectations. Waited a long time for our food even though we were literally the second group to walk in when they opened. Server did a fine job, certainly seemed to do the bare minimum. Food was fine, not good. Didn't season our eggs, pancakes were burnt and dry, hash had bites that were too salty and bites that were bland and the whole thing was dry and needed a sauce, fried egg sandwich was burnt. Started outside on the BEAUTIFUL patio overlooking the Guadalupe River. The ambiance itself is world class! We had a drink outside as the day was beautiful and then went inside to dine. We ordered the Mac/cheese bacon wrapped bites as an appetizer and to be honest...I could've eaten all 6 myself! They were delicious! One person in our group ordered grill chicken and vegetables...I noticed his plate was cleaned! My husband ordered a hamburger and kettle chips...said it was great and we stole some of his chips and they were GOOD! The rest of us had salads and they all were fabulous (I also added fried shrimp to my salad and they were huge and good!) Our waiter was a young man named Ethan. He was absolutely brilliant! He didn't miss a beat with our crowd and that's saying ALOT! He was also extremely gracious and so professional!!! Our waitress honestly made the whole experience that much better! I wish I remembered her name, but she was seriously so sweet and attentive! I ordered the Mac n Cheese balls and they didn't taste fresh so they were okay like a 6/10. I also got a lavender blueberry mimosa, SO GOOD 10/10! For my entrée I got the grilled fish tacos which were pretty solid 8/10 and it was a big portion. Here for Sunday Brunch, day after Christmas; they're still social distancing the dining room inside, all staff are wearing masks. We're out in the patio (with most of the other guests!) for the view and the beautiful weather. Bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary are available for brunch ... but with only an hour till closing, we'll just take singles. Hubby ordered the Texas Benedict and I've got the Pump House Hash (a la Louise) coming my way. Neither are keto friendly, but... it's still a holiday weekend, right? Beautiful view outside, and really neat interior design. This place definitely has charm; hoping the food lives up to its reputation. (So, we need to chat about the wait. It's been a while. Like, a long while. Maybe they're short staffed. Maybe it's because it's the end of the brunch rush. Maybe they're coaxing the chickens to lay some eggs. Either way, kinda glad we didn't go for bottomless drinks, as our server hasn't been back around for A. WHILE. It's been 20 minutes since we got our drinks (photos are timestamped) and we haven't seen our server in that entire time. I feel like they're about to lose a star for this....) Still hopeful that the food is worth the wait. We'll, kinda worth it. Taste-wise, everything was delicious. Serving size-wise, if you're getting the Benedict's, you may want to double up. The hash in the other hand, was plenty enough for me to share with hubby so he wouldn't leave hungry. The toast was toasty and good (ask for butter and jam, way better fixed as kind of a dessert) Sitting here with an empty water glass, even though our secure has been back by a few times. A group of us arrived in town too early for a family event so to kill some time we decided t would be best to drink and order some Apps. A quick Yelp search returned the Pump House. Kudos to them for quickly joining tables and seating a walk-in party of 8. There is a decent beer list bottles and draft and a variety of craft cocktails. Our Apps included beef bruschetta with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar and a stacked plate of nachos. Be aware the beef is cooked on the rare side of Med rare which might not be optimum for some (not me!). All were satisfied as was evident by the empty plates. Service was on point as we never wanted for ale or alcohol. The Pump House sits above the Lupe' river so you do have river views. The bar is cozy, there is a good-sized dining room, an event room, and a large covered patio overlooking the river. This is a great venue for drinks, brunch, lunch, or dinner. read more

For first entre we had pecan crusted chicken; it was nice and hot; good portion size and tasty. Second entre was grilled fish tacos. Although good amount of fish and toppings; it was cold and soggy. Also side is fruit (as they say on the menu), I think there should be cilantro rice or beans etc. So four stars for the food. Biggest issue was service. Started at the reception. Although we had a reservation (and we were on time), the greeter went inside to talk to someone and we were just left hanging for 10 minutes. Finally someone seated us and bartender was doing a double duty as a server. So we didn't get much attention. It took for ever to get the appetizer; water was not refilled. Asked him for a cocktail recommendation and he said he is only into plain liquor. Come on; a bartender! When we asked him to describe a dessert, he said he only knows what is written. A table nearby got shown a dessert tray by another server. I don't want to get him in trouble, but he was working two roles and that reflected in the level of service. Not sure any of them were particularly motivated or excited; so I would point to management. Ambience is nice; probably pictures look better. Restrooms were dirty. read more
