To start, the building is really cool and the ambiance is certainly very nice. Especially, it being in Victoria. The food was phenomenal. The only downside was the bar got backed up and therefore were pretty slow. It was a Saturday night but still took 20 minutes for the first round of drinks. They have Cheesecake Factory desserts which were wonderful. Birria tacos are great. Ceviche is heavy on citrus but excellent as well. Will certainly return when I'm back in town next. read more

I really wanted to give this a 3.5 score only because of the Drinks, a delicious Frankarita and the oh so good Pork Belly in Guac appetizer!!!!! That stuff was the bomb!!!! We finally had a chance to visit one of the newest places in Victoria. Our first visit on a Saturday around 1:30 PM, not very busy, greeted promptly at the door. Party of 5 seated at a high top table in the bar area because of a private party reservation in the dining area. Which meant limited seating. They do have an outdoor covered patio which would be great if it weren't ALWAYS so hot in Texas. Giselle-Gigi was our wait person, she did okay. I'm not very picky, however, in my opinion-she could have been a little more attentive. I ordered the Enchilada plate, two enchiladas rice & charro beans. I did not like it. There was a weird strange can't describe taste to the meat sauce and the beans. Not my cup of tea at all. One person had the Carne Guisada and also was not a winner for him. I will return for a follow-up because we have a gift card we need to use, next time I will try a steak or something chicken. And always a Frankarita with the pork belly & Guac! Yummy!! read more

Our first visit to casa Leon was amazing. The place was busy, even for a Saturday night. The staff was FAST, friendly, and very attentive. The restaurant was clean and really nicely decorated on brand for their restaurant. The music was a little loud, but not to the point we couldn't hear at the table. The skirt steak was THE BEST STEAK I HAVE HAD IN VICTORIA- anywhere! The quality of the food left me surprised at the value and price when the ticket came. Brand new Victoria restaurant. Very attractive outside and in. Fairly long line however, the hostesses seemed a bit unprepared and flustered. The wait was understandable but, we noticed empty seats in the bar area. When I asked about sitting there, the hostess gave me a reason that I really didn't understand. She said they try not to seat us there so we wouldn't have to wait for a server. The menu was surprising in that the variety is wide and not in a bad way, we were just expecting typical Mexican food choices. We settled on Asado Puerco & Carne Gusiado. Both arrived after we enjoyed the complimentary fresh chips n salsa albeit, the serving size of salsa was small. The staff quickly brought us more when we requested it. The dinner entrees came covering large plates. Portion size was very generous. Both the homemade flour and corn tortillas were warm, fresh and tasty. The Asado Puerco was slightly greasy but tasted good. The Guisado on the other hand was WAY too salty and the texture was as if it was left to cook too long. I went to Casa Leon to check them out for myself since I've heard some bad reviews. Personally I had great food and service compared to other places around town. There were small issues if I wanted to get real nit picky but nothing that would cause me to not go back. The fried zucchini was amazing! The wedges salads were great! Both were large portions well worth the cost. I loved that they do table side guacamole, make to your liking and fresh! I also ordered a filet mignon, medium, with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The filet came medium rear, not medium and I wish I would've known that their mashed potatoes came dressed with gravy and you have to ask to not have it added. My water wasn't ever refilled either. Besides those very small things, I was very pleased and would definitely go back! The food might be pricey but the taste and portion sizes made it worth it! read more

Garbage!! Service is horrible!! I'm writing to express my frustration with the service we've received from Casa Leon. On two separate occasions now, our order has either had items missing or been prepared incorrectly. When I place an order, I expect it to be complete and correct the first time. The whole point of ordering food is to be able to take it home and eat right away, not have to return to the restaurant to pick up missing items or have my name and number written down for a future order to make up for the mistake. After experiencing this twice, it's hard to understand why I would want to come back to your restaurant. Went to this restaurant and the food was awesome. The steak melts in your mouth and the wide variety of sides is a plus. Will definitely be back. There was a short wait which is expected at a new restaurant. Inside of the location is very pretty and there is even outdoor seating. I would recommend going to this restaurant and hope they will be supportive in this community. We loved the food and the service was great! The Fudge ChocolateCake is really good! We will go again.

Ate dinner here for the first time least night and loved it!! Service was fabulous. Staff ran their tails off!! They were on top of clearing dishes and keeping the place clean. Drinks were nice and strong!! I had the salmon which was amazing and my husband had a burger which he devoured. We also had the table side guacamole. Highly recommend!! The young man preparing our guacamole has a great personality. The wedge salad was boring though. And drown in dressing. The chips were stale but that salsa was fabulous!! The food is terrible. To describe the food in a nutshell... it was slop. Looked like a Mexican food tv dinner. And! What Mexican food place has Italian food? The hallway to the restrooms reminded me of a strip club with all the mirrors and the huge mural of Madonna on her knees in restroom with a huge playboy bunny next to her!... really?!? Facilities was brand new, service was in a slow gear, large bar area was cool but drinks were not very strong (slurpee level for the house frozen marg). Strange Chinese type decorations choices for a Mexican food venue. Queso was on the Lukwarm, plastic level of consistency. My biggest gripe was they charged me a dollar for adding onions on top of my enchiladas. I must have missed that increase in Onion tariffs from the local or national news. The wait was long to get a table. Our server was excellent however the kitchen seemed to have problems. There were 4 of us and one person' s food was delivered and he finished it before the next 2 got their food. Then the server told us there was a foul up in the kitchen and they lost the last order. 5 minutes later we all had our food. They couldn't complete one order as they ran out of baked potatoes ( at 7:30 ) so they substituted mashed potatoes. It was extremely busy when I went. The fried zucchini appetizer was very bland and served with what tasted like canned crushed tomatoes. The steak was nothing exceptional but the trout was amazing. First visit to this new restaurant. Great atmosphere and wait for Saturday lunch was not that bad. Our server was great and kept our drinks filled. Negatives- not explained that lemonade is considered an Agua Fresca and refills were not included. Menu said refill of chips is $3.00, but because we got the dip trio we got another basket. Prices are on the higher side. Food was not the greatest. My daughter's steak and veggies were under-seasoned and steak was tough. Mexican plate I got was okay, but kind of bland. We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant, but unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to our expectations. The steak my wife ordered was undercooked even though I specifically asked for "well well done, no blood not pink doneness!" -- Steak came out pink and raw in the middle. When I mentioned it to the server, they were polite and cooked well done this time around ... On top of that, the dish (carne guisada) I ordered was far too salty, which made it hard to enjoy the flavor. The presentation was nice, but the taste just didn't match the appearance. For the price, I expected much higher quality and consistency. I hope the kitchen pays more attention to seasoning and cooking temperatures in the future -- this place has potential, but the execution really needs improvement. read more

It has a nice atmosphere, nice patio and bar area. Food is pretty good. So far we haven't had anything to rave about, but haven't had anything bad yet either. The Mexican martini was almost only tequila and the margarita was average, better with blue curaco. Our waiter however, Phoenix, was excellent! We ordered undressed draft beers. Both came with salt and lime. I asked for mine to be replaced and after 8 minutes, nothing; so I had to flag down our waitress again. I ordered a Wedge Salad that was listed drizzled with Blue Cheese Dressing. It came with a small side container of ranch dressing and when I asked for Blue dressing I was told they do not have it. I sent this back (and it was removed from my bill) . My wife ordered the 3 shrimp tacos and only received two. What came was without the tomatoes, onions or cheese as it was listed. So just shrimp on a dry tortilla. Her meal arrived about 30 minutes after we ordered. My meal had not come after 45 minutes and we had to ask a manager. She took care of it and I did receive my shrimp and lobster. The manager also got my wife her third taco, this time made properly. They seem to have a large staff but most just stand around and talk. Our waitress came only when we flagged her down. I realize they have only been open for 3 weeks but this dis-organized and poor service is not worth $70. We will not be going back. read more
