I am reposting the review from 2/17/2016 that Yelp took down. I guess Yelp must not appreciate articulate and comprehensive prose. Sorry to disappoint the censors, but this really IS how I communicate. Call me and find out, Yelp. Your misguided speculation because I didn't misspell, use poor grammar, and keep it brief does NOT invalidate my experience OR my willingness to publicly recognize when someone does a good job for a change. You should consider that BEFORE weighing your heavy hands upon contributors. Let's be fair: If insurance companies all did what they said they would do all the time, there would be no industry for independent public adjusters. Make sense? The fact that they exist suggests that in spite of colorful, effusive advertising and promises, the reality is that insurance companies, (I'll be gentle,) could do "better" when it comes to handling claims. More than that, I think it's also fair to speculate that most of us grumble about paying out premiums - especially if you're fortunate enough to never NEED to make a claim. However, when catastrophe strikes your first thought is, "I'm glad I have insurance". Right? Then - you make the call. Initiating a claim, for me, seemed an almost positive experience. My file was opened courteously, information was exchanged, contact was promised... and now I remember being asked, "Will you be using your own adjuster, or do you want us to handle it for you?" Never having dealt with ANYTHING like having a seasonal home _destroyed_ by a leaking ice maker, we'd never had to consider such a question. Why would I want to get someone involved outside of the company and just complicate things more, was my thought. It didn't take long to discover the error in my ways. The adjuster assigned BEGAN promptly and addressed the immediate issues well - such as remediation, salvage, and demolition. Our house was gutted down to studs and sub-floor. The companies chosen by the adjuster did a spectacular, competent, and thorough job. After a few weeks we were contacted and told checks would be on the way for the building and personal property damages and we could then set about selecting the contractor we wished to use to effect renovation. The insurance company refused to be involved with that as it could expose them to responsibility for the contractor's work. Fine. No, not really fine, as we were 2700 miles away... but, fine. With what information I had I began, by "remote control", (internet search,) to try to identify possible contractors from whom to seek bids. I did manage to get a couple to arrange to visit the property and provide initial estimates. The estimates were as much as almost twice the settlement amount offered by the insurance company. That prompted a call to the adjuster. The insurance company's adjuster said it didn't make any difference to him whom I chose to do the work. "We'll make it work out for you," I was told matter-of-factly. THAT indifference and disregard set off the alarms - finally. Shortly after this, my stepson asked why we hadn't chosen a public adjuster? Like I said, never having done this before - and regardless of it being offered as a choice RIGHT UP FRONT by the insurance company itself - I never even considered the possibility. So, new search. Of the three I tried to call, Todd was the one that actually ANSWERED THE PHONE. In a situation like this, I feel, if you run your business by remote control how much service can I really expect from you from the start. Todd spoke with me and got a sense for the circumstance. He gave a little pitch about his company, and I made my decision. The first RIGHT decision of the whole saga. That was in July of 2015. To say Todd and his staff persevered would be a tremendous understatement. The litany of hyperbole to follow is earned and well-deserved. Courteous, thorough, professional, determined, attentive, tenacious, unrelenting, and believably concerned. Just who you wanted on your side in the first place. Just who you thought you were paying for when you took out that policy. It's now February 2017 and Todd's people have FINALLY brought the saga to a successful close - as far as the insurance company is concerned. Needless to say... no, no, it needs to be said. The Public's Adjuster Team got close to four times the original settlement offered for us so that we were able to restore our damaged seasonal home, and count on it as our home for retirement. Did I mention relentless? It was not an easy task. They absolutely earned their fee with this case. The insurance company balked repeatedly - and should probably feel embarrassed about what it feels like they tried to get away with. I hope I never have to go through anything like this again. If you've read this far, then you might well be starting to go through what we did. Do yourself a favor. Stop reading and call Todd. Don't wait to make that "first right decision". Really. read more

Stay Away! Call the CT Department of Insurance and ask first how many complaints are on record against Todd Moler's file (860) 297-3800 . He's well known to them with long list of customers complaints and I am working on submitting my own. Unethical and dishonest adjuster, terrible communications, will keep you in the dark, doesn't respond to inquiries, and when he finally answers, he is extremely rude and disrespectful, and talk down to you. He lied in our first meeting about how he gets paid, he lied about how we could terminate his contract if we reach a point that we see no benefit of his service. Now he is holding us hostages and wouldn't submit a release to the insurance company after we fired him! As soon as you sign the agreement, they shut you out of all communication and could care less about your interest, they bring in their contractor friends to cache in on the claim, and work on all kinds of shady stuff to benefit from the coverage themselves disregarding your interest and your family hardship living in an inn with 2 young kids. He recklessly drove away while I was standing in driveway to avoid answering my questions about our claims. I have this on security camera video! He's wasted months of our valuable time when my family with two young kids are still living away from home with no chance to get back to our home for Christmas! Do yourself a favor and Stay Away from this organization. read more

There are not enough good things I can say about The Public's Adjuster. In a time of hardship, Todd and his team were there for me and my family. I hate to be so crass, but I really do feel the need to say it. Bluntly speaking, home insurance companies are not your friends. We paid month after month for coverage for years and in the end, they tried to lowball us and give us an insulting amount when we needed them most. And why wouldn't they do that? They already got the money from us. The best choice of action for them would be to try and get me to go away with as little money as possible. Naturally, that is what they decided to do... Luckily, I was told about public adjusters and how they can help people in my situation. After listening a bit more, I sought out one close to me. I talked to Todd over the phone and he came the very same day to check out the damages done. I was able to go to work with ease of mind knowing that The Public's Adjuster was taking care of everything. In the end, he got me over 60% more than the initial offer the insurance company offered to me. I was amazed and astounded. My regards and thanks to everyone working there! read more

The roof of my multifamily suffered some damage from a fallen tree during a storm. I thought because my roof was not in the best condition the insurance company wouldn't want to cover it. A family member encouraged me to contact Dave at The Public's Adjuster in Hamden. I didn't even know what a public adjuster was. Dave and Mike, the estimator, were great. They were personable, professional, and informative. They gave me an honest assessment and set my expectations realistically. Then they took over and went to work. They handled "everything" and in the end I could not have been more thrilled with the outcome. The insurance settlement was fantastic! Without them, this process would have been arduous, stressful and without any doubt, would have resulted in a significantly smaller claim settlement. Our claim was submitted in August 2018, and the clean-up work was done immediately, however, the restoration work was not going as smoothly. We had two contractors walk away b/c the Insurance quote was too low. Easter weekend 2019, I was driving home and saw the Public's Adjuster and gave them a call, Todd called me back within hours, and Edgar was at my home the next day. Edgar, Julie, and Todd worked closely with us to get us the correct estimate for the work and ensure the insurance company was holding up their end of the bargain. The work finally started in June 2019 and completed in August and with every construction job, there were unforseen costs, Julie and Edgar again worked with the insurance company to pay those costs. After experiencing a major emergency at my house when my dishwasher malfunctioned caused severe water damage I was lost and was referred to Todd and the Public Adjusters. Todd came out that day and took over the handling of the claim as if it was his own home. My insurance company was extremely difficult and if it was not for Todd and his efforts I don't know what the outcome would have been. Todd answered my questions and phone calls whenever I needed them. I know without using Todd and his company I would not have been able to handle this claim. No! No! No! No! No! No! - Don't even think about it. They pick the low fruit and ignore the tough fights with the insurance company. They are more interested in nurturing their relationships with the insurance company adjuster than they are in representing your interests. They will offer you services from the "Preferred Partners" - guess who benefits. Do not under any circumstances use this company! These are the used car salesmen that you've always heard about. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! My immediate family has hired Todd Moler to help with claims due to water damage in their home, and I couldn't believe the way he has treated them. He doesn't communicate any updates at all, he REFUSED to share any information about their claims with them. For months, they wouldn't know where they are standing with their claims. They even fired him and he won't let them go!! That's how unprofessional and shady his business is. Definitely do not recommend. read more

My water heater broke and flooded my in-law apartment, all the floor where destroyed, walls soaked with water, soon with mildew... The insurance wanted to give me less then $5000.00. Used Todd on a small claim I had with Travelers. Tree hit my attached garage and did some major roof damage. Insurance company tried to do the minimal repair work, but I wasn't confident in the offer I had received. I asked Todd for help and he got me a lot more money than I was previously offered.
