Our server, Rossi, was inattentive throughout the evening. I asked for utensils and had to remind her after they were never brought to the table. I ordered the tater tots, but they tasted strongly of burnt oil and, in my opinion, were not edible, so I asked to return them. This was the first time I had ever returned a plate here.
Saby later began attending to our table, and his demeanor toward us was rude and confrontational. He accused us of trying to get a discount, even though our concern was specifically with the food we had returned. When we went to pay, I noticed the tater tots were still on the bill and asked why they had not been removed. The situation quickly escalated. Despite the dispute, I paid the bill, including the tater tots.
During the interaction, a woman named Gensis, who I was told does not work at the restaurant, repeatedly attempted to push me toward the exit. After our tabs had been paid and we were leaving, several people who had been sitting at the bar followed us outside. These individuals appeared to be associated with the group at the bar. During the confrontation, my brother was physically attacked--he was punched in the face and his shirt was ripped. Saby also made threatening statements toward us, including a threat about "breaking" my brother's skull.
I pulled out my phone to record what was happening. During the confrontation, Gensis struck me in the face. Law enforcement was contacted, and I filed a police report regarding the incident. I provided law enforcement with the videos I had recorded, but I was told that my videos were not sufficient for them to take further action at that time. Despite reporting the physical altercation and providing the footage I had, no further action was taken that night.
It has now been approximately one week since the incident. To my knowledge, law enforcement has still not received the restaurant's surveillance footage. This is particularly concerning because surveillance systems may overwrite or delete footage after a certain period of time. The owners have been made aware of what occurred, but as of the time of this review, I have not received meaningful assistance from them in resolving the situation or ensuring the relevant footage is preserved and provided to law enforcement.
What began as a simple complaint about a $14 plate of tater tots escalated into an incredibly disturbing situation. We paid our bill and never expected a disagreement over returned food to end with threats, physical violence, and police involvement.
Based on my experience that night and the response afterward, I would not feel comfortable returning to this restaurant. Customers should be able to raise a concern about their food without being insulted, threatened, followed outside, or subjected to a physical confrontation.
