They actually owe us money, and still they have attempted to extract money from us. - I also had to contact them repeatedly over 8 weeks just to get someone at Sunrise to help me with Long Term Care Insurance. - Again, some lovely, helpful folks in Care, but it's bad news behind the curtain.

Housekeeping doesn't clean under or behind furniture, and even dirt, dropped food sitting in the middle of the room aren't cleaned properly. The level of care they show in the rooms reflects the level of care residents--especially those who can't speak up for themselves--are receiving. Some residents have visible dandruff and grease because their hair isn't being washed regularly, dried crust around their eyes from not having their faces cleaned properly, ears full of wax, and noticeable odors on their hands. These are all signs that their hygiene needs are not being met.

Very Disappointed With Our Experience…read more Our experience with Re:Cognition Health was extremely disappointing, especially during what was one of the most frightening and stressful times of our lives. My husband was initially evaluated and diagnosed with Alzheimer's through this facility. As a spouse and caregiver, I was looking for compassionate, thorough care and guidance for a very serious disease. Unfortunately, that was not what I felt we received. After my husband's diagnosis, I felt there was a strong emphasis on getting him started on expensive infusions that were presented as costing approximately $54,000 a year. The experience felt less like we were discussing a serious and devastating medical diagnosis and more like we were choosing options on a vehicle. Something about the process simply did not feel right to me. One of the times we had a scheduled appointment, they literally had called just before we were getting in the car to cancel our appointment. I trusted my instincts and did additional research. We ultimately found another memory-care team in Dallas that I feel is much better suited to my husband's needs. Our new doctor has since explained that, because of how advanced his Alzheimer's is, the infusions that had been recommended to us were unlikely to provide meaningful benefit at this stage. I am extremely thankful that I did not move forward before getting another opinion. Another major concern was obtaining my husband's medical records. I am his legally appointed medical and financial POA, and I provided the appropriate court documentation. Even knowing that my husband had an Alzheimer's diagnosis and was unable to understand or complete simple paperwork on his own, I was repeatedly asked for documentation and had an extremely difficult time getting his records released. I had to go back and forth with the office multiple times, it was an all day event to even get them to hand over his medical records and I still have not received everything that should have been provided to his new medical team. And they would not release his medical records to the new Drs. During an already overwhelming and emotional time for our family, I expected understanding and compassion. Instead, I felt frustrated, dismissed and unsupported. I also did not feel there was much in the way of meaningful support for either the patient or the caregiver beyond discussing medications and infusions. Alzheimer's is an incredibly difficult disease, and families need a medical team that understands the emotional, practical and medical challenges that come with this diagnosis. I am grateful that I listened to my gut and sought a second opinion before putting my husband through additional testing and treatment. I would strongly encourage other families facing an Alzheimer's diagnosis to do their research, ask questions and get a second opinion before making major treatment decisions. For us, this was not the level of compassionate, comprehensive care we were looking for. If I could give zero stars, I would.

I have a bad experience at the Houston Clinic of Re: Cognition Health. The manager of that clinic…read moreis unethical and unprofessional. On my appointment day, the only staff member present is a clinical research coordinator (CRC). My total appointment time there lasted 3.5 hours, abnormally long! The CRC first wanted to take my blood sample from my left arm. She failed. After 45 minutes, she came back and tried on my right arm. She failed again. It turned out that, based on her LinkedIn profile, this CRC was hired less than two months ago and had no prior blood-drawing experience. I cannot understand why the office manager placed her as the sole operator of the clinic and allowed her to perform an invasive procedure. This was an inappropriate and irresponsible use of an inexperienced employee, and we, as patients, suffered the consequences. Besides, the Glassdoor review on Re:Cognition Health's US locations (https://www.glassdoor.com/Overview/Working-at-Re-Cognition-Health-EI_IE1886993.11,30.htm) is 2.7, substantially below the average. Here is my conclusion: there are unhappy employees in this company, and we as patients should stay away from it.

In-lab sleep studies are no walk in the park, however my Sleep Tech, Orlando was wonderful in getting me through it by making sure I was a comfortable as possible. He is definitely an asset to the practice. I look forward to my next appointment with Dr. Dunlow to review the results. On the the forms issue, I will admit to having filling out the same forms more than once. That issue bears some retooling.

Calls go unanswered, messages don't get passed along, and promised callbacks NEVER happen. Having to chase an office just to communicate is ridiculous. If you're considering bringing yourself or a loved one to this location, RUN. Do not ignore this warning. No patient or family should EVER have to deal with this while already suffering. I would NEVER recommend Dr. Monti or this neurology center to anyone. Kensington was quite impressive! Upon entering I was welcomed by the friendly staff and an elegant but comfortable atmosphere. Fern, the Director of Community Relations, gave me an engaging tour and even let me enter two of the apartments and speak with a resident and her daughter who was visiting. I appreciated how much time Fern spent with me and how informative she was. The environment at Kensington felt home-like, well-kept, and it was safely designed for residents with mobility issues to feel at home while ensuring support was available if needed. It was clear that the staff were caring and attentive, with an emphasis on engaging residents in activities. One of the residents told me how much she enjoyed the services - she loved the fact that she no longer had to worry about cleaning, cooking, doing laundry, and all the chores she had to do when she lived in her own home. I walked through the dining area and saw happy residents engaged in meals and chatting. Another highlight was the excellent food offered by a top-notch chef where residents could pick one of two displayed meals or order from a menu if they preferred. I liked Kensington's model for ongoing personalized evaluation and care. Unlike several of the other assisted living arrangements I had looked at for my mother, Kensington had the ability to support her over the long term. This is because they are licensed as an enhanced assisted living residence and can offer a higher level of care. At this time, I plan to delay moving my mother here, but if I feel she requires increased care and more in-person attention, I will be recontacting Kensington to see if they will evaluate her for assisted living and possibly memory care.
