She is quite rude and does not seem at all interested in helping the residents if they have a medical question. She has either there a very long time, too long, and it's time for her to retire. It would improve the clinic to have a helpful, knowledgeable and cheerful medical professional head up the clinic. Most everyone else who staffs The Fairfax are wonderful. The presence of this nurse hinders interaction at the clinic and is a very negative aspect of The Fairfax.

The staff are caring and friendly. The offices are accessible to answer any questions and any paperwork is easily to file. Online updates and robocalls also inform residents of any acute issues or changes such as snow storm plans or electrical outages etc . Healthcare wise: On site flu/immunization drives along with on-site health care with adjoining CVS is a bonus! They even have a visiting dermatologist, audiologists, cardiologist, & podiatrist in addition to primary care physicians. You do have to sign up for their plan to access their on-site healthcare, but pricing is reasonable and the care is excellent! Shuttles also take you on campus and off to sites such as the grocery stores, Ft. Belvoir PX/commissary, and the metro for example. They have over 100 clubs, garden plots, putting green, golf simulator, on-site gym with pool & pickle ball, and multiple restaurants as well. I felt as though my parents were being cared for as if they were the parents of each and every staff person. The administrative staff, the nursing staff, the dining room staff, the maintenance staff, the receptionists and the cleaning staff consistently had a "how can I help" attitude". I always felt like Heatherwood must be a really good place to work because of this positive attitude and the lack of turnover we observed. And the facility was always clean and was always being improved upon. It was a comfort to know my parents were in such good care and in such a lovely place

From the moment we stepped in I knew Westminster wouldn't be good. From smelling like pee, to dirty carpets it was gross. My dads care was anything but questionable. He lost the ability to use his arms and required him to be fed. First day the nurse brought the food in and left. When we advised he'll need to be fed they said "He can't eat on his own?" First time we met the Dr he thought my dad had battled cancer. He obviously mixed up charts. Lastly, my dad was struggling with pneumonia. I came in Sunday afternoon to find him struggling to breath. I asked the nurse to come and check on him. It took them two hours to come in. They had to call 911. He then stopped breathing in route to the hospital. SO PLEASE....DON'T SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!!

I was the Case Manager in the building. The management team I worked with were wonderful. The floor staff were very helpful and have been employees for many many years. The administrator has began renovations to the facility as it is older and is making the facility more appealing in many ways. I have been blessed go meet my co-workers that I can now say are family as they are great hard working employees that make the work place environment positive and fun not only for patients but also for their families.

The apartments are well equipped, with full kitchens and washer and dryer. The guest suites and dining areas are tastefully decorated as are the hallways, each with a lovely sitting area for residents to visit with others. The very lively activities' coordinator takes residents on walks in the attractive Belmont Bay area, engages them in physical exercise and dancing. The Director seems to be well liked and is very responsive. The chef prepares a variety of healthy meals, served in a tastefully decorated dining room with service from friendly staff. The residents are quite diverse; in addition to many white residents of various backgrounds, there are Latinas, African-Americans, Filipinos, Indians and other Asians. I was impressed that residents socialized with each other, especially during happy hour. The costs are quite reasonable given the DC area. I encourage seniors who are exploring options to call and visit them.
