I usually don't like to write bad reviews but for this place, I had to. The service was apologetic but terrible and sloooooow. I ordered a club soda and got ginger ale instead. The waitress said that she just brings out what they make at the bar. Ginger ale is yellow and club soda is clear, you should be able to tell the difference. We waited such a long time for any food to appear. Other tables who ordered after us got their food first. I ordered the special salad with Fried Green tomatoes. When they brought everyone else's food in my party they told me that they were out of tomato's and would I sub in chicken breast. Sure, but didn't you know that when I ordered? Now I have to wait for my salad while everyone else in my party is eating. Realizing that it wouldn't come out until after everyone else was done, the waitress asked if I wanted my food to go. Nice gesture but not what I'd call eating out with my family. They bagged up my salad to go with no fork and no napkin. What am I to do, go savage on this thing and eat with my hands? She did comp me for my salad. Only gets three stars because the food was decent. read more

Basically pricey bar food. Inattentive waitstaff. Be warned they charge for soda refills...not sure if the owner is taking a stand on soda consumption or gauging customers, thankfully the waitress warned us ahead of a pricey refill at $2 each. read more

Staying in town and it's right across the street from my hotel. Had the seasonal peach & balsamic glaze pizza which was light and very good. Nice selection of draught beer as well. Staff was friendly and very attentive. read more

Service was good enough and the food quality is great - they have a really great Reuben sandwich and the burgers and pizzas are good too. Definitely better than Alex's, worth leaving the hotel and walking across the street to get decent service and good food. Only drawback was I wish they had a bigger menu selection. read more

Food is a bit touchy, I've had some good meals here and I've had some things that I didn't really want to finish and that I could prepare much better myself. It's a sports bar with sports bar food... I will say that the French onion soup is good every time and hits the spot on a cold day. The main saving grace are the friendly waitresses tending the bar and the tables; I would rate their personability and the quality of their service high, but the food relatively low. Also seems to be a lot of flies in here, but the portions are decent and they don't eat too much anyways. read more

Loved this place. Good, old-school, family owned bar in an old freight house building that was owned by family for years. We did not eat, but stopped in for a drink. Daughter (forgot her name) was bartender and gave us the background on the place. Very personable and one of those bartenders that pays attention to every customer, and is ready with another drink before yours is empty. Will definitely be back. read more

Atmosphere is nice, ordered a chicken pesto panini, not to garlicy. Nice place for a quick lunch or place to watch a game.

Pro: Excellent burgers. Cons: they charge for any soda refill and the service is fair. Can you imagine a separate charge for each refill? What's the markup: 300%?! At least they could provide one free refill. Anyway, that is why I seldom patronize the Press Box. Instead, I go to Old City Hall, just a couple of blocks away, across the river and right on the river. Friendly wait staff, good bar food, drinks are well priced. Less than a block from Best Western and Econolodge on 1st St. Drinks are cheaper than GS Steamers in the Econolodge if you don't care about a patio overlooking the river. Seems family friendly early in the evening becoming more of sports bar as the night progresses. Worth checking out. read more

went last Friday night with the family, the French Onion soup was good, the clam chowder tasted like flour (really bad rue) the garlic chicken wings were OK. My daughter ordered the buffalo wing pizza, way to spicy for her to eat (she likes spicy). My favorite place to eat in town. Atmosphere and service are great, and there are plenty of televisions so you can catch almost any game that's on. The deck is the place to be in the warmer weather, with a view of Lake Ontario, and the Oswego river. Medium wings and pulled pork nachos are must haves. read more

I understand any restaurant is allowed an off night occasionally and I certainly experienced one this evening. Maybe 50% occupancy but waited 10 minutes to be greeted. Another 10 minutes to order. After 23 minutes I was served a chicken sandwich that was dwarfed by the bread, burnt fries and the bottom of ruffles potato chip bag for a side item. Absolutely disappointing. read more

If your looking for your typical sports bar you've come to the right place. With more TV's than you can count the game will always be on. The food is your standard pub selections. But, in the past few years they've started to expand the menu to include some more healthier selections. The Press Box has always been commended for the outstanding burgers. It had been my go to dining spot for the last decade! The service here has always been great. With the staff remaining the same for a long time they always make you welcome. read more

We went sometime early August and ordered a burger, chicken tenders, and chicken wing dip. The chicken wing dip was amazing, probably the best I've ever had. The burger was decent, nothing too over the top, but not bad at the same time. The chicken tenders were very good, well seasoned and crunchy. The staff were fast and friendly. Went there on a non busy day for lunch with a few colleagues of mine, placed orders quickly and easily. We got our drinks fast but they weren't what we wanted. Waited 30 mins for food then got annoyed, 20 more mins pass, still no food. Every time we asked they said, " It's coming right out" BIG LIE! Forty more minutes and groups that came in after us got their food and left. Forty more mins and our food came out, only thing is my colleague, Ryan Fryling got starvation diarrhea AND the WRONG FOOD! I strongly suggest not coming here unless you have 130 minutes to spare. Typical high calorie, fatty food. Average service at best. The waitress looked at me like I had six heads when I asked for water without ice while the outside temp was freezing. Probably a good place to grab a beer and watch the game, but eat somewhere else prior to going. read more

I have eaten at your restaurant several times and I will totally admit that the food was great and the serves NORMALLY IS COMMENDABLE but following today I don't know if that makes up for the lacking serves we received today. My mother in law, myself, my wife who happens to be transgender, and a close friend came to have lunch hoping for a good time. The waitress we were assigned to was less than up to the standards of anyone servicing the general public. Now I would like to think it had nothing to do with my wife being transgender , but I watched as she served everyone else in the dinning area with a smile and making sure their experience was great. Each time she came to the table she seemed upset and put off by serving us. Then even when we were complete with our meals and wanted to go boxes it took us getting up and asking another waitress for help. It's truly said because this waitress could have easily made a $14 tip but because of how rude she was my mother in law saw it only fit to leave a 64cent tip, as that was the kind of serve we recieved. I'm a promoter in the Cny area who deals with the public often and never would I recommend someone to attend your restaurant because of this poor and discriminating serves we recieved . Have eaten here before when visiting the kids at college. Nice atmosphere and previously enjoyed our visits to the Press Box. Had a horrible experience here today and likely will not return. We were the first customers seated on the outside deck. It took our server a long time to take our order. Other tables were seated after us, had different servers than ours, and received their meals long before us. We had to get up and get our own popcorn, which is typically given when you get your drinks. When asking the server why we were waiting a full hour for our meals, she didn't even apologize. There was a bee problem outside. We asked the server if we could possibly move inside while waiting for our food. She told us "the bees are docile and won't sting", stating it would be difficult to move us inside to one of their empty tables. Then she said the manager would give us a free drink for waiting so long. We declined any drinks and just asked for our meals, as many other customers already had their food. Meals finally arrived. Napkins and silverware came after our meals' arrival. No manager ever came to apologize. Server wouldn't consider an apology. Burgers were undercooked. Just wanted out of there. No discount on bill despite previously offering us free drinks. Paid the bill and for the first time in 20 years, left no gratuity. Will not return. read more
