Pond Diggers built my 10 X10 3 ft.deep goldfish pond.I was happy with the results.However over the years I've had them come out and do a spring cleaning.Cost $500.00.Recently the "estimator" looking at a texted photo quoted me $1,295.00 !!!There is no filtration just recirulation of water,no gravel or lava rocks,no auto-water feed.At most it takes less than three hours to drain,power wash the rocks and refill.This is outrageous,Pond Diggers have lost me as customer. read more

When i had my pond originally build i wasnt too happy with how it turned out. After a few months i reached out to the pond digger for a pond remodel consult. After sitting down with Eric, and hearing his suggestions i decided to move forward. His team was able to come out and fish the work in a couple of days. I was amazed by the quality and creativity that was deliverd. I now enjoy the koi and the pond as well. Since the projects have been completed, i have called eric several times and he always makes sure that he is attentive to my concerns or questions. When i got my pond done i went with the cheapest guy i could find and was left a little disappointed, but eric came in and helped make my pond look amazing. I just visited The Pond Digger with my brother in law and sister in law. They are looking to build a pond. A gal came up to us and asked if we had any questions and my brother in law told her "I'm here getting ideas for a pond" within a few minutes Eric( the owner) comes up and invites us to have a seat as he and my brother in law talked ideas. Eric even took the time to sketch some ideas. As we walked around a little more a really nice girl came up and gave us cold bottled water. If you think it couldn't get any better Eric says "I have a friend in the area let me see if he's home and you can go by and check out his pond we built ." Well he was home and we did go by and the pond was so absolutely amazing, it had a gorgeous water fall and lots of Koi and immediately my blood pressure was in the zen zone. His friend was so gracious to show us around and I can't wait to go visit my sister in law after their pond is done. Amazing company! This team is comprised of nothing but hard workers and you can tell they love their job! Eric was very flexible with our build - the perfect mix of professional and down to earth. I felt like we were friends by the end of the project. (And he did do a lot to recommend quality local contractors for a few different things we needed, like electrical, to help us know we weren't being taken advantage of.) The team built out a beautiful pond for our two turtles, which they absolutely love! The process was quicker than I expected, a testament to their knowledge and expertise. The only reason for 4 vs 5 stars is the cost. They do AMAZING work, but it is NOT cheap. That being said, 6 months after install, I had concern of a minor leak, and they sent someone out to take a look and repaired at no cost. All that to say, if you're looking for the best team to install a custom water feature/pond in SoCal - you absolutely want these guys! read more

These guys are magical ! They helped me build my koi pond which wasn't tiny but they do much bigger and smaller. Let's start with my pond being 7000 gallons in the pond and another 1000 gallons moving through filters, total of 8000 so my fish load could be slightly higher! Eric and his crew were always punctual and site always was perfect ! I even have magazines calling me to feature this lagoon style pond with tropical backdrop. It get better - they don't just do install these guys have a full line of maintenance and construction supplies for homeowners or contractors. He is also willing to do design assistance for the do it yourself or for professional ( architects etc) These guys are definitely the premier southern California Contractor and they also do nationwide so if you need anything he can ship it etc. Thank you pond Digger ! Nine months ago, we called them in to replace our pump with a new one we had. They changed $150 for that. Taylor, their son indicated that they will come back in spring for total cleanup for about $300. Since then, it has been uphill battle between the owners Lesley and Eric Triplett and their office manager. This vicious triangle between the couple and the manager became so vomiting that manger tels me the owners have nothing to with the price I was told. But she does. Each time I asked them to scahule service, they sat on it and later up jacked up the price to $950. This is a sleezy and greedy way of running a business and outright illegal scam. The son took our pump to be repaired and returned. But being a sloppy business they lost it and tell me "it didn't work the we tossed it". They took the pump to check and repair. They loosely it and cone up with an excuse that they trashed it. So be aware that you are dealing with thieves here. Even if they last ones to be called for any service, avoid them at all cost. read more

I am cross posting this because I see there are two listings. Trade name and Company name...Same great Company!!! I needed some major help with a poorly built pond I put in and I found this site online. The owner, Eric, came out and checked out what we had. The pond I had put in was lacking in depth...(my opinion and keeping my construction issues simple)... ! It was decided that to achieve what I was looking for, my poor excuse for a mud puddle was finished (again my opinion). Eric brought his crew out and did the most professional work I have ever seen. My pond actually looks like it is somewhere in the high desert mountain area. It was finished off with California native plants and rocks from the California high desert/mountains. It is our slice of paradise in our own backyard visible from anywhere in the back yard but most importantly, its directly outside of our master bedroom sliding doors. The support we have received as we go through this journey has been incredible. I highly recommend Eric and his crew for any waterscape or design you may have in mind. read more

After watching The Pond Digger YouTube videos for years, I finally had the opportunity to meet Eric in person. Being a DIYer, he stands to make very little money for helping me but he is still incredibly generous with his knowledge and time! He even made time to speak at my pond club's meeting and answered questions for hours. In addition, he offered to help me plan for my pond remodel. I started using his line of life support products (dechlor, barley and beneficial bacteria) and my pond has never looked better! I am amazed by his willingness to help others! We have used the pond digger for years. They built our pond. Recently, we have noticed less than ideal maintenance. I asked Eric, the owner to come to discuss adding more plants and trees. He quoted me $3000. When asked for a detailed break down, he sent an emoji and then said "1500 labor, 1500 materials" I stated we needed a more clear breakdown. He said "We don't do that." Must be nice to blow off $3000. Then asked for some plants for the water. His employee, Mikey, brought them and simply pulled them from the pot, DIRT AND ALL and set them in my pond. Which became muddy and murky as a result, and put my fish at risk. Our last clean out was also not done well. It's sad to see what used to be a great business fall apart. I am extremely loyal to businesses, but when I am treated like a hassle and overcharged and underserved, I have to speak up. Be extremely cautious in using this business. They will try to make significant money from you, even f you're a long term client. They will do negligent work that puts your fish and pond at risk. They also said I needed a new impeller, motor or pump. New company we hired has said none of that is actually needed. Super sketchy that I almost spent an additional $500 for things that may not be needed. Ultimately, they did waive all outstanding invoices (99 for 4 plants, 2 of which were HERBS!) 995 for a clean out that was done poorly. Again, be extremely diligent and ask for details when getting quotes and prices. I hope Eric and his team can figure this out, but am deeply disappointed in the last year or so of contact/work. read more

Follow up: gold fish especially koi fish have trouble swimming in 5 to 7 inches of water. Good size pond w little depth. The pond digger was never on site when the actual build /design was going on just on lots of phone calls. I spent good money and the follow up calls and visits, gurantee of my satisfaction never came to fruition. read more

So sad that spring cleanups are so expensive, they increased their prices for this service and they do not get back to you in a timely matter ever since they moved, we really like Eric but maybe it's time to find a new pond place that is available for the small stuff. read more

Where do I start? I bought a house 3 years ago with a "pond". Actually it was an algae pool. The previous owner did a "DIY" type pond with liners and like 5 or 6 pumps bought from the local big chain pet store. I got online and googled pond builders. I contacted several contractors. I interviewed them. I did research. I contacted recommendations. I am so glad I did! I spent a bunch of time researching and never did Eric feel threatened or become pushy to get me to sign a contract with them. The research I did - sold itself. The youtube series done by the PondDigger- phenomenal! It gave me all the confidence to let them handle my project. I have an amazing pond! Three years later - IT'S BEYOND AMAZING! Pond Digger - Eric and Scott and Mike have absolutely killed it! My pond is the highlight of my yard. Complete with waterfalls, koi, lilies and amazing landscaping. The process was seamless. They communicated all the way through the project. They turned the mud hold into an amazing oasis. They showed up on time (huge factor for contractors these days) - and completed on time! Over the past 3 years - they have maintained the pond on a weekly basis. They go above and beyond EVERY TIME they are at my house. Something needs to be done - they don't wait for me to ask - they handle it. I have had a pump malfunction and shut off - called Eric and BAM - he had people at my house to get me up and running again as quick as possible. Eric was as worried about my koi as though they were his own children. He is a GREAT GUY with a HUGE HEART. If I could give this business bonus stars - above 5 - I would do it. The workers themselves were very nice. The schedule was bad. They are expensive for what was done. Unfortunately delays and design and water function . Had at least 2 leaks. Overall i give them 3 stars becuase im sure they have done good work in the past, ive had to do alot of work on my own to get pond to where we want it to be. read more

Wow! We recently moved to Rancho Mirage, CA and decided to add a koi pond to our back yard. We contacted a number of services. We met with Joe the Fish Guy - who works directly with The Pond Digger. We liked them from the "get go". Our pond is approximately 14' by 11' with a three foot waterfall and spill way. WE LOVE IT! From start to finish was just over a week. From design to cleanup their people were orderly and respectful of our property. There is nothing "fishy" about their work! We are now ready to finish landscaping and selecting our fish. I contacted The Pond Digger company because of poor circulation in my pond and needed professional advice to improve the overall appearance. I asked that I can please receive a phone call before the field person arrives at my home so I can meet them, being that I work close to my home. I never received a phone call, but I received a bill for $90. No advice given, not even a note was left. I was extremely disappointed that this did not work out. When I called the company the information given to me over the phone was the exact same thing I told the person beforehand when I made the appointment, and I was told that a requested phone call was placed in the notes. Definitely not worth the $90 fee. I have no proof that anyone even came out to my home. I have not paid the fee yet, but I will. Just truly disappointed in how this was handled by this company. read more
