Continental breakfast
Karin H.

Booked this from Groupon to break up a two week trip to New England. We arrived late at night and the check in was a little, how do I say, different but we got our room and settled in for a few nights stay. The hotel itself was a bit dated to the 1980s but the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. In itself I would give it a three, but it is part of a larger estate that includes a castle and amenities just up the hill that in themselves are five star. Seriously, don't even bother with the continental breakfast at the hotel. Get yourself together and go and enjoy the start to your day up at the castle. It reminded me a little bit of breakfast at the Empress in Victoria with the view of the beautiful gardens. The grounds around the castle are beautiful and a nice place to walk around a bit. The library of the castle has been turned into the bar and is open at 4pm each day for "happy hour." It is a great place to just sit and relax with a good book and a drink. We didn't have a chance to enjoy dinner at the castle, but would like to go back again to have that opportunity.

I don't usually leave poor reviews but this booking process was so misleading that I had to. We thought we would be staying at a RESORT. This hotel is far from that...Run down Hampton Inn at best...The Castle Dining and Spa areas are completely separate. Beds left us feeling sore and uncomfortable when we were planning on exploring the area. So much for feeling relaxed...Lukewarm shower. One person at the front desk on Labor Day Weekend is ridiculous. I felt bad for her, she kept a great attitude while checking us in with 3 lines on hold, but didn't explain where the pool was or if we were allowed to walk the premises of the "Spa" area which was where the outdoor pool was. Minimal TV options are abysmal because there's nothing else to do on the property. Cafe wasn't open due to Covid but EXPLAIN that on the phone...‍ Made reservations at Castle Dining but cancelled after crappy take out the night before. So disappointing.

King suite living room

Their King "Suite" was not big at all. It was fresh and clean upon walking in with definitely older pieces of furniture, no real view and not worth $150 - surprisingly, $150 a night was ON a discount and that was the shocker. I would pay $99 max per night including tax given the location. I find it annoying that they charge $10 more for using the castle pool? Very very strange. Cleaning lady didn't change the sheets when it was clear that food had gotten on it and there were stains and instead she just reused these... Also, the Aveda hair products left my hair feeling dry and brittle... Wasn't a fan. The kitchen was great and very clean, and the coffee offered was good as well. If you have people in your group that need a fridge, get the suite! Also, for a hotel, I wouldn't expect a response of "I'm the only one here" when asked if there was someone who can help us ladies with the luggage. Couldn't you step away for a second? Couldn't you call someone from your castle? Anything... Or be a bit more apologetic .. Not fun after driving 5.5 hours and in the dark, with 4 ladies and a baby. I wish it was a bit bigger, and that the TV didn't lag and have to load upon changing he channels. Overall, it was a decent choice not the best choice we could have made.

We had a wonderful time at The Pointe. It was our 15 month old pug Funyun's first vacation and it was absolutely perfect. Such a warm and dog friendly hotel. We stayed here over 20 years ago with our yellow lab Otis and had a great experience then too. He was barking while we were skiing and we came back to find him working the front desk with the staff! There was a gorgeous Great Dane working the desk this time. Every staff member was warm and friendly and made us feel welcome and comfortable. The rooms are clean and the sitting area in the lobby is cozy. We used the heated outdoor saltwater pool and hot tub at the Castle and it was absolutely amazing! Highly recommend. Funyun gives it 5 paws!

Grime from the jacuzzi jets
Chris M.

I purchased a Groupon for one night back in April. The hotel is on the older side, but what really bothered me was the lack of cleanliness. The ice from the second floor ice machine had black specks in it, like no one had cleaned it in months. Considering I only saw one other family during my time there, I don't know how they didn't have time. My king room came with a jacuzzi tub. I was excited about this until I filled the tub with water and pushed the jets button. Large black pieces of grime came out of the jets! I was really grossed out. As I had prepaid with Groupon, all the front desk clerk was able to do for me was give me a voucher for breakfast. This would have required a 45 minute wait, so I left. Really bad experience

Stayed here recently for one night and I have to call out the high points. The grounds of the…read more"Castle" building are spectacular. It's so pretty and the landscaping and flowers are wonderful. We loved the pool and hot tub as well. It's very peaceful and relaxing. The Castle building really is gorgeous as well. The staff at the hotel are very nice and want to be helpful. We used the spa and it was okay. The gym is large and well equipped. I had a massage which was okay. The room I was in had a window which faced the road and the traffic noise was louder than the spa music that was playing so didn't lend itself to relaxing. The massage was over $200 so I didn't think it was a great value because I didn't really feel fully relaxed after it. Ask for a treatment room on the pool side of the building if possible. We ate at the restaurant and it was pretty good. Prices were high but seemed to be about on par with another meal we had in the area. Service was nice. Our room was okay...very spacious but the lack of outlets is tough to manage in 2025 with so many devices to charge. I understand the building is very old so I get that there aren't a lot of plugs. My Verizon connectivity was terrible in the whole area and due to a wide-scale outage, Wifi was not working when I was there, which was problematic because I had to take a business call. That and a couple of other issues with our room led to us leaving early to find someplace that had a working Wifi connection but I have to say the staff were helpful and understanding. It was the off season and I think maybe they were a little short staffed but I get that it's tough for businesses these days. Overall, this place was fine and it is very beautiful.

The setting is beautiful, and the property has a lot of history -- over 125 years old and once belonging to Governor Fletcher, with only 12 rooms. Unfortunately, our stay was very disappointing. We checked into Room #9 and right away noticed issues. The bathroom door lock was broken, and I ended up getting stuck inside until my husband let me out. There were also many dead bees on the floor when we arrived, and by the next morning we saw live bees in the room. Since the windows didn't open, I had no choice but to kill them. Service was limited -- no housekeeping even when requested, and the hotel felt very understaffed (likely because it was off-season). The spa treatment was okay, but there was only one massage therapist available. The pool area was relaxing, but that was the highlight. The bee problem got so bad that we cut our stay short. Although we had booked for three nights, we left after just a day and a half, checking out at 9 p.m. on the second night because it became unmanageable. Staff sent a technician, but the only solution offered was to spray, and the bees kept coming back. The environment and historic charm are wonderful, but the property isn't being maintained to the level it deserves. Sadly, I don't see myself returning.

And this year was THE YEAR to hit up Vermont for skiing b/c they got more snow than they've gotten in almost a decade--so the skiing was the best east coast skiing I've experienced ever! And, if you're in Vermont skiing, you must drop by Main Mountain Bar & Motel. We weren't staying there as motel guests, but we heard that Main Mount was the place for fancy cocktails... and whoever told us this information was spot on!! Every cocktail we tried at Main was unique and super tasty. My favorite was the Good 'Ol Boy cocktail, but I also recommend the New England Sour--it's like a Whiskey Sour but with Mulled Wine and Cocoa on top. As for atmosphere and service, both are great! The interior decor is more like a cozy (but slightly modern) mountain house library (an atmosphere you might expect in a hip Brooklyn bar), and it's very inviting! And the bartender and servers are amazing and really friendly. As for food, we didn't try any on the first visit, but we ended up going back to Main Mountain on our last night of the trip b/c we found out that, on Sundays, they host a burger night! Ummm... yes!!!! So, we went back, I had another Good Ol' Boy, and we downed some yummy Smash Burgers and French Onion Mac & Cheese! Oh, and PLEASE order a side of their pickles! They are life-changing! Bottom line = check out this bar if you are in Ludlow, Vermont for skiing at Okemo or just visiting for some other reason. You are sure to love it like we did.

Bathroom has ample space, but not enough supplies were left (soap, shampoo, etc), but there were ample amounts of towels. Ski racks were installed near the door, which were very handy to hang up all our equipment and outerwear to dry. The beds, however, were ROCK HARD, and there was no fitted sheet on the mattress, only a tucked-in flat sheet (which came off halfway through the night). We barely got any sleep, if any. We had a corner room, upstairs, next to the access stairs. We could hear every footstep within 50 feet. Not so bad, because skiiers in this ski-town want to sleep to have energy for the slopes, so we only heard footsteps before 10pm and after 7pm. Continental breakfast offerings were mediocre. Pastries were still-frozen, fruit was not ripe (totally-green bananas), and their waffle-maker tripped the circuit every couple of minutes or so (obviously overloaded). I voiced my concerns about the beds and the waffle-maker circuit (fire hazard!) to the hotel website, and was promptly replied to by the hotel owner (locally owned). He said they planned on replacing the bedding and mattresses after ski season. and were going to address the circuit issue. i'll leave that to future reviewers to confirm if this was done or not. If they fixed those issues, i'd stay there again. The rooms were pleasant (except for the mattresses and sheets), and the location was great. Throw in a good night's sleep, and it would be ideal. But until they do address these issues, i'd stay somewhere else.

From the main lodge are a couple of very short and slow lifts that take you up to areas which give you access to additional lifts. I really liked the variety of runs and that it wasn't overcrowded. Getting to the resort is easy, it is located just off the main street of Ludlow, Vt., which was about a 30 minute drive from where we were staying in Londonderry, Vt. There are a number of parking lots; both days we arrived early so we had a choice of the 2 free lots near the base area. Equipment drop off is easy and the walk from the lots is not too far. The biggest issue is to get through the resort to the base lodge entails quite a lot of stairs. The lodge itself is what you would expect, nothing fancy but more than serviceable. The restrooms and changing areas are downstairs, which is made a bit harder by the angled staircase, which can be a bit challenging when you are in ski boots. The changing areas have seasonal lockers, rental lockers and free racks for bag storage which is appreciated. At the base lodge you have 2 lifts that take you up the beginner area and allows you to access the rest of the mountain. The main lift for the main face is a high speed 6 pack with ubble covers for the chairs. From the top you can make it to the other areas of the mountain. We skied all of the areas of the resort the Main Face, the South Face, Solitude and Jackson Gore. Okemo is great for cruising the Blues and groomed Black runs. Even though the conditions were icy and not everything was open Okemo provides plenty of variety and skiing. I really enjoy skiing at Okemo, the mountain is pretty easy to navigate. There are a wide variety of runs especially for intermediate skiers. A really fun and enjoyable couple of days skiing.
