I called again and Dianna confirmed that it had been sent. Called again 10/28 and was told for something left in dishwasher and some clothes in closet that I wasn't getting my deposit back. They are thieves and liars and if social media doesn't help I'll take them to small claims.

A loooong overdue review…read more Walnut Park was home for 9 years. I rented a 1 bedroom apartment there in 2003 and stayed until 2012. I only left to move closer to my aging parents. My rent during that time only went up a total of $100. The buildings and grounds were well maintained. Snow removal was quick and painless. There are a ton of trees there, and it cuts down on the 'apartment complex' feel of the place. Loads of parking. The owners (Poorvu Construction) were easy to deal with. They were good about posting notices keeping us up to date with goings-on, and giving enough notice when they (rarely) needed to enter the apartment. I don't think a day went by that I didn't see their staff in and around the complex. The apartment itself was huge. Really nice recessed balcony with room for a table and chairs. I loved having my coffee out there! Lots of closets and cabinets (the bedroom closet had shelves and dividers eliminating my need for a bureau) with an additional 5'x5'x5' storage space in the basement. Appliances were all new when I moved in, as was the carpet. The heating system and wall-mounted AC worked well. Too glowing a review? Okay, here's a complaint; they don't allow cats.

Porch Pirates, listen up: Ames Shovel Works Apartments is a great place to live if you like to…read moresteal packages with impunity! Don't worry about those pesky surveillance cameras--they're just for show! (Apparently.) Oh, what's that? All the good stuff is likely to be kept inside of the secure package room, entry to which requires a key fob? So what! Allegedly they track your movements, sure, but even if somebody files a police report nobody will bother checking that data. Do you know how many minutes that would take? People are busy! So steal away, porch pirates. If you're down with OPP, move to Shovel. Heck, the staff even have your back! They just want to do right by you--they'll even stonewall and ignore your victim. Now, not many expensive apartment buildings can brag about that kind of dedication. Bonus: Ames Shovel Works Apartments is also a great place to live if you think mounds and mounds of dog shit and gutter trash are the height of landscape design. Sometimes it even makes its way into the hallways! The dog shit, that is. Staff pretends that doesn't happen, too, which is nice for those of you with a discerning eye. Good luck finding a better amenity-less apartment building with such a high tolerance for theft and dog shit!

There has been significant turnover in management, and we are in the process of meeting the new staff. We enjoy that the establishment is pet-friendly and pet rent is free. There has been turnover with renters as well, and we have always been lucky to have great neighbors. It is convenient to have Ames Estate within walking distance, as well as all restaurants and the library.

Just because this apartment complex disabled their Google reviews for whatever reason (their Google…read morereviews are not available for me for whatever reason), I will post my review from there to here. I don't know if it is because of all the 1 star reviews or what, but potential renters need to know the truth about this horrendous apartment complex through and through! For the sake of anonymity, I am using a different email that does not show my name. Therefore, like you have said to other people in your responses, no, you will not find my name in your database. I have been here for a few months now and utterly hate this place. Rent is overpriced, buildings are worn down, Amanda is rude as hell (not entirely sure how she still has a job here), and this is just an overall shady place. 6 Months can't come fast enough. Though I might just spend the fee to break my lease to not have to give them 6 more months worth of rent - ridiculous!... Do yourselves a favor and look ELSEWHERE! Save yourselves the absolute headache that this place will cause you! Not to mention, your wallet will thank you too! Awful complex! Yes, I am ready to get the same awful generated response that you guys give everyone else who gives you anything under a completely undeserved 5 star review! Not even worth a star, but unfortunately, that's as low as I can go! I'd give ZERO if I could! I mean, look at their responses here and on Google if you have the availability to do so. People give 1 star and maybe 1 or 2 sentences worth of info, then the management decides to bash on them and talk about how they were evicted amongst other things? Not only is that disrespectful, but entirely unprofessional - how is this complex still allowed to operate through the way they act?!...
