Well, I was blown away by the professionalism and knowledge displayed by the Sewell representatives. I especially liked the demonstration of how the wood shutters are put together and how Sewell differs from the cheaper-made shutters on the market. Sewell beat my second guy estimate by $700, so I placed a deposit. The next week, the measurement guy came out, and I was even more pleased. He helped me choose the perfect arrangement for my windows and helped me see that some of my window plans may not be feasible for certain types of windows. For example, I wanted double hung shutters on 3 of my windows, and these have drawbacks. The man took a sample of my home's paint to match so that the shutters matched my trim exactly. The hanging went smoothly and was right on time. It took a little over one month from the time of the first visit. The shutters are absolutely beautiful.

We had regular faux wood blinds on both windows prior, but were never fully satisfied with them. They didn't cover the full window, but they were the best we could afford at the time. After perusing reviews on Yelp we decided to give JR a call and he came out to the house. We were a little surprised that he only had one sample to show us. He only uses the Norman Blinds, and they don't have the traditional vertical bar that enables opening and closing. We really liked JR, though, and decided to go with the Norman Blinds, even though they were a little different from what we had been expecting. One cool thing about the Normans is that you can close the bottom 1/3rd portion of the blinds while leaving the top open, which is nice when you want some light but don't want people outside to see in. We also have two very skinny windows which border the sides of our front door. Very creepy to have people look in the windows at you (and they do!). We ended up ordering shutters for those as well. It took a couple months for the blinds to come in, but the guys who came to install them did a fantastic job. They even wore foot booties so as not to dirty my white carpet. They were very nice and respectful. Once up, the shutters looked awesome. We love them. I love being able to close them tightly at night and love how dark the bedroom stays in the mornings. It actually is much nicer *not* having a vertical bar running up the blinds that obstructs our view. I plan to eventually have some of our other windows done as well, as soon as it's in the budget. Our experience with JR and Classic Shutters was a very good one.
