They really love what they do and it shows with their attention to detail and amazing customer service. Grace from Engaging Affairs recently went above and beyond to help with a sticky situation we were having. She knows how to step in and make things happen. This is the type of team you need to stand behind you on your most important day. I would highly recommend day of and full planning services to any bride seeking some assistance for her most important day.

My husband proposed in April of 2015 and we planned to be married 5 months later, in September of…read more2015. I knew with this short time frame, we needed a planner! I decided to check with my dear friend Google to see if he knew of a good wedding planner. I found 3 or 4 options and sent out an email to all, a couple responses consisted of the generic automated kick back email. I was pleasantly surprised when I listened to my first (of many) voicemails from Grace. She sounded so sweet, organized, and ready to get started. It was this initial contact that really made me feel like this company cared to make a good first impression and we set up the interview. Our first meeting with Grace was wonderful, she left us feeling confident that we could really plan and execute the wedding we wanted within our short time frame. From that day on, Grace worked diligently. She quickly gained an understanding of our likes and dislikes, which is so important when using a planner. She was able to weed out and narrow down my options without me always being there to offer input. I spoke with Grace on a daily basis, she was always updating, asking questions, or simply wishing me a good day! She set up all of the meetings, always arriving early to ensure the vendors were prepared. Grace has incredible taste and always provided her feedback in regards to staying with the style/decor I wanted. Needless to say, sometimes she knew what I wanted better than I did! She really did handle it all, leaving the fun parts for Vince and I to enjoy. Grace has incredible organizational skills, leaving no loose ends. She worked very hard to work around our busy schedule, often catching up with me via email late at night. I was always so impressed that she was working on our wedding at 11 o' clock at night! She also worked very closely with our venue as well as the vendors, ensuring they had all of their ducks in a row for the big day. She made several visits to the church as well as reception venue without me, making sure everything was ready to run smoothly for our day. The day of the reception was PERFECT! While I am sure there were a few hiccups, Grace ensured our day was stress free. It truly could not have gone better. My husband and I really appreciated the way Grace put out fires and solved problems without involving us, always mentioning the issues that occurred a few weeks later! Grace is not only an incredible planner, she is kind, genuine, and honest. She quickly became a dear friend, a few tears were definitely shed at the end of the wedding day. Your wedding day is such a special and intimate moment, it was ideal having someone that you feel close with running the show. She helped me put on my vail, drove our golf cart around the reception, and helped me take off my very complicated dress at the end of the night. We often joked that it was our wedding day I am happy to say that not only did my husband and I hit the lottery with our wedding planner, we gained a lifetime friend as well. Many thanks to Engaging Affairs & Grace!! Vincent and Cassie

It initially started with a…read morevirtual 30 min. consultation where she asked all of the questions to get an understanding of our budget and our vision. After the consultation within the next couple of days, I received an email with some venues to look at and visit. Andrea took care of setting up the appointments to visit locations based on our schedule, once we selected the venue she contacted all of the vendors that we selected as well, we didn't have to deal with the vendors unless we wanted to. Her service includes unlimited calls, texts, and emails and she definitely lived up to that! Her response time was always within minutes and she always had time to sit and answer every question I had. When it comes to budgeting she is a realist and will give you an honest answer to ensure you are making a wise choice, I trusted her experience and she helped me save a lot of money. It's good to work with someone who will give you sound advice because as a bride I got caught up in things that didn't matter, like the color of napkins... Andrea kept it real about what truly matters on your day. And now that I am married she was right. On the day of the wedding, she was at the venue very early and was in communication with all vendors, and knew what everyone was doing. Some things like all weddings didn't go as planned but she kept me calm and made sure my focus was on getting married. She thinks quickly on her feet and is great at solving problems. If there was an issue she had a solution. Andrea has a great personality and you will not regret working with her. I plan on using her for events in the future!

I am an event planner from California and came to the east coast for my cousin's wedding of 170 guests at the Newton White Mansion. Andrea attended to the details, was thorough, composed and polite throughout the couple days I saw her working this event. It was large and elegant and she did a great job! From one pro to another, nice job, Andrea! Holly

DC Taste - Short Ribs and Fall Veggies - Wedding

We recently got married at Eastern Market in Washington, DC. I wanted to keep with the farmers'…read moremarket feel and utilize the wonderful tastes, colors and textures of fall throughout. Working with Jennifer Tye and the team at dcTaste was seamless. JT read my mind - from the smallest of details to the menu to the ceremony and reception set up - she captured exactly what I wanted. She was much much more than just my caterer. She coordinated with other vendors, helped secure items that fit with our vintage, farm table feel, and pulled together a table setting that was spectacular. The dcTaste team turned the blank canvass of Eastern Market's North Hall into something that would blow the minds of Pinterest followers! Oh....and then there was the food...the fabulous food! More on that in a minute... We had shopped around for other caterers (all uninspiring) before finding dcTaste through a friend. I was so impressed with JT from the get-go - before we ever talked menu - her pricing was incredibly reasonable compared to other caterers in the area and her approach to helping us with event planning perfectly fit my Type A personality.Beyond her incredible talent as a chef, she was mindful of costs and helped advise me on what was worth the splurge and what was an unnecessary expense. JT and I met in person several times to talk through themes/layout/menus, etc. She was very prompt in responding to my many questions by phone and email as well. Every time we spoke, I felt like I was her number one priority and that she was truly invested in making my wedding as fabulous as possible. Through dcTaste, we also had a day-of coordinator who was fully briefed on the theme and vision for the day and worked to ensure I had nothing to worry about. Elizabeth was so thoughtful - she understood that the details matter. She went above and beyond surprising us with added décor that fit perfectly with our theme. She even turned the ladies bathroom at Eastern Market (used by the masses on an average weekend) into a spa quality ladies lounge! I got so many compliments from wedding guests about the ladies room!! The staff at our event were the friendliest and most responsive team I've ever encountered. They seemed happy to be part of our event and greeted our guests with such hospitality. At the end of the night, they took everything down, helped my family load things up and made sure everything was cleaned up as required. Working with dcTaste took the stress out of wedding planning - they ensured that our day was more perfect than I could have ever imagined. Back to the food - best fall menu ever! For cocktail hour, we had passed appetizers that included BBQ pulled pork in tiny mason jars with coleslaw and baked beans on top - so creative and delicious. We also passed mini grilled cheese sandwiches with a tomato soup shooter, bruschetta, and goat cheese stuffed dates wrapped in bacon. For dinner we started with butternut squash soup with a dab of pumpkin butter followed by 13-hour braised short ribs with mélange of fall vegetables and the best cauliflower puree one has ever eaten. For dessert we wanted a pie table - blueberry, sour cherry, pecan, apple and (our favorite) key lime. We also had red velvet wedding cake but the pies were the big hit! Remarks we heard from our wedding guests specific to the menu: "This meal is amazing; I would order it again if this was a restaurant." "Best food I've ever had at a wedding." "BBQ in a mason jar appetizer was so creative and sooo tasty." "Grilled cheese and tomato soup shooter - perfect for a fall night." "Short ribs were just like my mom's - so good." "The pies!! We should have started with the pies!!" "The key lime pie was so good I wanted to plant my face in it." For any event, with great confidence I strongly recommend Jennifer Tye and dcTaste. I can't wait to work with them again!
