Spoke with a recruiter at Planet Group, Sophie was her name out of the Boston area. She had reached out to me regarding an opportunity and we had a call scheduled. She was late joining the call and seemed to be rushing to get me off the phone. The call/interaction was very unprofessional as she was unengaging and inarticulate. She didn't seem to know much about the company that she represented either. Lastly, she ghosted me after the the call. Never responded to my two emails. This is not a good reflection on your organization. You need to train your recruiters to sound professional, have empathy and follow up with candidates. read more

If you are looking for a HR position, WW seems to do a nice job. If your gig has to do with finance, go elsewhere... WW reps specialize in a distinct field and seem pretty well-versed in what is important in that industry. They also split there their reps -- each either works on placing people in contract jobs or in permanent positions. Their overall feel and presentation is professional and polished. The reps I have used for h.r. are bright women with quite a bit of drive. They are serious about closing a deal. They also really, really try to prep you for an interview. I generally think this is a good thing as it is better than walking into a place cold and laboring under a perception that could be dead wrong. The negative side of this is that sometimes you feel a bit like a politician told to hit a quota of buzz words. Overall, I would give my reps (Boston and Waltham) high marks. The reason I am giving WW only three stars is the repeated awful treatment a friend of mine received from the people in their finance division. He was urged to get to their office promptly at five for an interview. He left work early, battled traffic and then waited for 30 minutes for his interviewer to appear. She obviously had not really looked at his resume and conducted something that did not rate as an interview. Despite her indications of follow-up, there was none - it is not because the resume or candidate was sub-par or not placeable. Since his first experience with WW, my friend has received calls from two other reps of finance department in Boston indicating they have a position that may fit him. Neither individual responded to his e-mail or call back to them in under a week and without a second call or note. Now who really needs someone to screw with his or her head? Don't these people remember candidates are the raw materials they use to get commissions. This finance group gets no stars. read more

This is a review for their Boston location, FYI. I met with one of WW's recruiters. She was nice, but in the fake kind of way. But she did get me a position at a software tech company in the Boston area. It was all very cult-like, though. And I was even asked twice during the initial and quick phone screening to cancel any and all interviews that I had for any other positions before this software job had started. I thought that was weird and unprofessional. And then once I started the job, something had come up within the first week and I wasn't able to stay a full day at said job for one of the days. The situation wasn't handled how I thought it should've been on WW's part. Instead of reprimanding me before discussing the situation with me, they should've talked with me first to see what had happened. Ultimately, if you're looking for a position that any off the street can get (i.e., no college degree required), then by all means seek out WW. However, if you seek a position where your talents and work experience can be put to good use and appreciated, then look at other staffing agencies. read more

I did not interview for a temp/contract job at Winter Wyman. I interviewed for a position working for them doing Account Management, developing relationships with potential employers. In doing due diligence, I came across these Yelp reviews about the company. My initial thought was that maybe they're all whiners, and sour grapes. People dont tend to write great reviews, I thought. So, I decided that no matter what the outcome of my experience, I'd post a Yelp review. The oddest thing was that, I even addressed these reviews to my interviewer @ Winter Wyman.. I was then as shocked as you are to find he agreed with "most, if not all of them." He didn't even downplay the reviews, but almost reveled in the level of dissapointment expressed here. Almost as though it were a badge of honor. I should say that I do not think I was a good fit for Winter Wyman, so I'm not complaining that I wasn't hired. They weren't a personal fit for me, either, because I feel it's s a pretty stuffy office environment which suits some, but not others. They also do not embrace new media techniques for marketing like social media, which the present employees lament. I should be fair and say that is probably not something that each of the people I spoke with can control. However, I was told I'd be getting calls and assurances to set up follow up interviews, and I didn't receive those calls despite the fact that both of them said they would. I cant speak for all of Winter Wyman, because I did not meet all the employees, and can only speak about who I came across. Perhaps they do great work, but the difference between what these two said they'd do and what they actually did could not have been further apart. I'm sure that's typical of most recruiters, but each person I dealt with insisted that they were not typical. So, while I thought that my experience would vary from the reviews here, sadly, like even the head recruiter who WORKS for them, I feel that they are accurate based upon my particular experience. read more

John was really great! I was getting a bit annoyed at the constant emails, and when I mentioned it, he stopped without asking questions. When I later saw him at a networking event, he sent me one email of what they had at the time, but has otherwise been really good at not over-advertising. Recruiting companies always do some things that seem shady, like removing the title bar from your resume, but they need to do that to protect their business. However, every single person I have worked with there (both sides of the fence) has been professional, completely on top of things, and personable to boot. It's a huge company, so I'm sure there are some crappy people working there, but my experiences have been great. I was shocked to find as many people dissatisfied with WW as I was. Nice to know I'm not alone. My first contact with WW was helpful in that I received some helpful feedback in regards to my resume. I was taken back by the critique as I hadn't requested it, but it was helpful regardless. For what it's worth, I still didn't get the job. I'll just leave it that my experience with them has left me believing they're less than professional and do not care to build a rapport with prospective placements, but instead see you only as a statistic. Other agencies I know work with you to not only find a placement that you would be right for, but that is right for you. It's best when both parties work together to build a relationship together allowing each to make the maximum amount of money both immediately and in the future. read more

This is the first time in my life I have EVER written a review. But since I have had a bad experience here not once, but twice, I feel obligated to make a stink. First of all, let me begin with a little background (not because I want to float my own boat, but because I want to clarify that I didn't walk in to Winter Wyman with ripped jeans, my eyebrow pierced, and a reference from my last boss at Burger King hand written on a post-it note.) I am a young marketing professional with a positive demeanor and a good head on my shoulders. I know the market is rough and I wasn't expecting miracles. What I was expecting though, was some sort of communication after the initial interview- even if it was only to tell me that they have nothing at the moment and they will be in touch as soon as anything comes in. I was also expecting, just based on good business practice, that my e-mails would receive a response. I'm a pretty reasonable person. I let it go the first time (in 2007) and decided to give them another shot (2009). But it's the same old Story with Winter Wyman. WHO ARE they helping to find jobs? Anway, if you want to come in through their doors, be rushed through an interview, and then hurried back out the same way you came in never to hear from them again...then Winter Wyman is the staffing firm for you. read more

In a market as tough as the current one, you can't blame a staffing firm for the kinds of jobs that are available to any specific candidate. It's the responsibility of the candidate to build a relationship with a staffing partner, understand what a recruiter's role really is, and be prepared to compete with strong contenders for the roles that are available. I have worked for WinterWyman for a year; this is my 4th job. I have also worked at a national car rental company as a management trainee, and within corporate headquarters for a major wireless communications provider as both a sales trainer and a business account executive. Based on my past experiences, I recognize WW as a truly professional place to work and a business that genuinely strives to provide outstanding service to its clients. We connect every day with people that we're able to put to work! It's a great feeling! I read these negative reviews on Yelp about WW when they courted me to come work here, and I'm really glad I took the reviews with a grain of salt. The employees here are hard-working, professional, personable, and, yes, BUSY. Candidates get mad thinking that our job is to find a job for them; on the contrary, our job is to fill the open roles that our clients have. If a candidate is not a match for any of the currently open roles, then we can't put that person to work right away. We DO want to help everyone, and we do add candidates to our database in case we later come upon a role that the candidate is a fit for. It's that simple. read more

I have worked with two people at WinterWyman. I work full time and am in school part time. While I was open to the idea of changing organizations, I wasn't sure if it was feasible. Not only did I have to take off a lot of time from work for school (which made taking any more time off for interviews nearly impossible), but having that much on my plate was overwhelming. I also wasn't sure exactly how much I wanted to leave the organization I was at. There were a lot of things going on, with possible internal jumps, then layoff scares, and everything in between. However, the recruiters at WinterWyman were always open and sensitive to everything going on. I always felt very comfortable being very honest with them: about what I was looking for, how much I was looking, etc. At one point, I even told a recruiter that I was speaking to a company that a colleague of mine went to and did not involve WinterWyman. Even that was a comfortable, open discussion. Eventually, I found a new role with the help of WinterWyman that I am very pleased with. When salary negotiations came around the recruiter went to bat for me and got me a number higher than I was likely to ask for. All in all, the two recruiters I worked with over the course of 6 months were a pleasure to work with: very professional, open, and optimistic. Interviewing can be overwhelming at times, but they kept me going when I felt discouraged and it all worked out. read more

Where to begin. The recruiters lie to you pretty much about everything. On the contract side, if they can find somebody cheaper to sell to the client, regardless of competence, they will, to maximize their margin while stringing you along as a backup. If you do manage to secure a contract with them, they require a background check, a Massachusetts CORI (redundant and not relevant unless you are working with children or the elderly--which is never the case), and a drug test. Funny how the biggest liars out there want to know everything about you. As one previous reviewer mentioned, recruiting agencies do not employ the best and the brightest to begin with (used car salespeople perhaps), but Winter Wyman is composed of the highest concentration of dirtbags in such a confined space as there ever was,. read more

Does this place even exist? Surfing indeed.com I kept seeing their name pop up for investment job positions I was qualified and interested in. I went to their site, browsed through their job listings, and sent an email with resume to the agent to contact, inquiring about a dozen or so job reqs. 2 weeks later, no response. I followed up with another email and phone call. 2 weeks later, yet again no response. I reached out to another agent there via email and phone. 2 weeks later, yet again no response. I figured I would try yet ANOTHER agent, and yet AGAIN was met with disappointing silence. I could understand if I was underqualified and shooting the moon, but they were postings for positions looking for entry level to little experience, and I have a BS and working towards MBA/CFA, so they should have been jumping at my qualifications to place me. Either I managed to get a hold of your 3 worst agents, your email & phone systems were down for 2 months, or your company is ridiculous. Either way -- you just plain suck. read more

Recruiters are pretty much dirtbags but this company used to try and place people in the correct jobs. You would think the least they could do it match job seekers with jobs similar to what they have done in the past. Apparently, they will just submit your job for anything that comes along. I had them absolutely hounding me to apply for a job that would literally be the worst job I could imagine. Total waste of time. The only company worse was SNI Financial where they changed my resume to cover any gaps in working without my knowledge and their testing software crashed several times. read more

I have years of experience in back-office operations for the state as well as large financial institutions, the 1st "assignment" they send me on is in Customer Service call center. When I called and emailed to voice my dissatisfaction I felt as though I was just placated rather than actually removed from the assignment. It wasn't until I removed myself and made it absolutely clear I was not returning did they actually REALLY do something. Too little too late, I informed them their services were no longer needed. Smh.... They could have placed me in a position doing data entry all day and even that would have been a better fit. Know your talent, know what their strengths actually are; don't just dump them anywhere because you need warm bodies to fill spots. read more

I said I can forward the email she sent to me as a prove, she simply ignored it and hang my phone, rudely. They called me and set up an interview for a three month contract position. Another recruiter was scheduled to meet with me prior to the interview. He showed up so late that we arrived just in time for the interview. Any last minute preparation was discussed on my way into the building. After forty minutes into the interview the hiring manager recieved a text and the interview was over. I think she was expecting the text because during the entire process she kept looking at her iphone. We agreed that regardless of the results I would get some feedback about the interview. I never talked to my recruiter again. All my attempts to contact him failed. He did send me an email much later wanting all my references. Nothing about the position or interview. He obviously wanted my references to cold call potential clients. My recruiter acted more like a sales person, a lot of hype and very little quality. I think you could do better working with a solid recruiting agency and avoiding this one. read more

I have to echo the statement below. It seems that if you want a finance position, you should look elsewhere. I was contacted by them and also received a telephone interview. I changed my travel plans to meet at their office and was looking forward to the meeting. However, when I got to the office I was disappointed to be placed with a recruiter who had just graduated from college. While normally I would have been fine with this, the interviewer was unprofessional and the meeting felt lazy. Haley McNeel was a nice person, but overall I was disappointed with the service considering that the website shows more experienced recruiters in the finance division. I had applied to a couple of positions recently where I fit all the necessary qualifications. I sent three emails, left three voicemails, and nothing. Not even a "sorry , but we are not interested". I tried contacting a prior recruiter there that I had worked with before (who seemed nice the first time I met with him), and he ignored me too. I suggest using any recruiter BUT them. I think this agency ranks on the lower end of the spectrum. I had a death in the family and could not do a contract role after that they wouldn't even return my call. Then when they did they send me to an assignment it was a very low paying position that was not even what I was really looking for. I also asked about jobs that were posted on their website but was told they were filled. On at 2 occasions it was a lie because i knew the person who wad doing the hiring. What an unprofessional and rude agency and staff. After receiving a referral from a professional colleague I began to research Winter Wyman and look for HR opportunities that Winter Wyman was offering. I was so impressed by their website and the values and promises that they espoused on the website. Rather than sending my cover letter and resume into yet another recruiting black hole, I chose to make personal contact with a couple of recruiters (as encouraged on the Winter Wyman website). Disappointingly I have had absolutely no response to the 6 attempts at contacting three different Winter Wyman staff. While they may think this is standard agency recruiting practice, it is really awful considering all the promises and values that they espouse on their website about how they treat candidates. This is clearly a case of a hard sell to get candidates and organizations to sign up, yet fail to deliver on their promises and values that they espouse. Their moto is "Our Talent is finding Talent. However, this process should not have been so difficult considering I am at a senior level, have a doctorate, four relevant degrees, been assessed and developed as HiPo talent twice, successfully completed leadership development, 21 years worth of experience and additional relevant training. Placement should have been easy. Yet I was simply ignored. They clearly just can't see talent when it knocks on their door. I emailed Suzie Bell on three separate occasions and have not had any response from either email. I emailed her on 6th and 12 May and then again to follow up on 2 June 2015. On the second email I requested that if she wasn't the person if she could forward on my details. I had no response at all. Simply rude and unprofessional. I also wrote to Beverley Morgan on LinkedIn asking for advice. Again I have not had any response back from her. I am shocked at the lack of response from Suzie and Beverley as it is not in line with the promises and values that Winter Wyman espouse on their website. I contacted Cathy Renda in HR to follow up and provide some feedback. She was very professional and was very apologetic about the total lack of response and agreed that it was unprofessional not to respond back espousing values of always getting back in touch with candidates as being the best practice and standard which all WW should be working towards. She assured me that she would forward on my resume to an agent who would get in touch. After forwarding on my resume to Cathy in HR, I received two voicemails from Lauran MacArthur within hours of each other. I was away for a couple of days so I contacted Lauren as soon as I got back and left her a voice message. A week later I had not had any response, so I followed up again and left yet another voice message. I have had no response from either of my calls. Just rude and unprofessional. I am not going to waste anymore time with them. Their loss. I followed up by email with Cathy Renda after everything to which not surprisingly she has not bothered to even acknowledge. These recruiting agencies are all the same. They should realize that today's candidate is tomorrow's decision maker on whether to use their services to source candidates in the future. I will not be recommending this agency for job seekers or for organizations looking for external recruiting and will certainly not be using this agency in the future when I am trying to source candidates. read more

I actually had a great experience working with my recruiter, James. I met up with him and he immediately started to show me jobs. He found me three jobs, all three of which interviewed me. Unfortunately, the jobs didn't pan out into anything and I ended up finding my new job on my own. But I would not hesitate going back to him or recommending him to anyone! read more

Terrible, terrible staffers from both a job seeker's perspective and recruiter, incredibly sloppy. As a Sr. Technology Manager trying to recruit talent they would forward resumes for people who were unavailable, terrible at screening at candidates, leave filled positions posted on their website so we would still be contacted with candidates, awful with follow up...and they are expensive to boot. Over time all departments in my old company stopped using them. Basically, they just forward resumes, I had better results (that were less time consuming) coordinating with our internal HR department and Dice.com. We eventually started working with Michael Page International, wow what a difference... When our company was bought-out (a few years ago) my position and a few others were eliminated. WW came knocking...had an interview, the recruiter was incredibly arrogant she obviously didn't want to be there. In short I was told to look at postings on their website and ask to be submitted (they leave most of the work to the job-seeker), I did just this. They didn't have my level of position, plus the job market had crashed so I was also snooping around for less senior positions and would ask to have my resume submitted. I didn't get one interview nor any follow up as to what happened...well, the recruiter I was working with suddenly disappeared for a few weeks. I spoke to a colleague and he said I had never been submitted for any of the positions I found online despite being assured to the contrary by the person I was working with. Also, a good portion of the positions I had asked to be submitted to had been filled for months. He also explained why I hadn't been submitted; because of my salary history I was tagged as a 'high earner' and put on the shelf exclusively for positions above a certain pay scale. The recruiter I had been working with was jerking my chain. Turns out other job-seekers (super talented and presentable people) have had parallel experiences. I have to say I was forewarned about WW by many people and I only know of one person that has been placed through them. Even she did nothing but complain and would not recommend them. What prompted me to write was, out of the blue, a recruiter from WW contacted me with an opportunity (in hindsight I realize he didn't give a job title, company info or description). Hence, I'm always willing to have a look and why not give them another chance it's been over four years. He asked for my resume I forwarded and haven't heard since. Looks like it's still business as usual. I've had people tell me on multiple occasions (this includes professional recruiters) they feel WW reaches out to fill interview quotas and/or stock fresh resumes, this would make perfect sense and now I have something to back up their claims (the latter is also mentioned in other reviews). My advice to anyone dealing with WW is: Recruitment/Talent Seekers - Look elsewhere for a staffing partner. These guys really are the bottom of the barrel...they're expensive, yield very little, my old company stopped using them, I hear nothing but complaints from people that deal with them. Job Seekers - It's a tight job market so use them as part of a job-seeking shotgun blast to better your odds. Remember, don't be fooled, a lot of their online job postings may have been filled, go in with very low expectations and don't waste too much time. Standard I have wonderful credentials and my experience with company "X" is a huge asset. Hmm, company "X", never worked for company "X", never worked with company's "X" product. Have no idea how company "X" came up in the e-mail. Oh, if i'm not interested, could I give them the name of someone that would be. My company downsized and I was let go four weeks before Christmas. A colleague gave me the name of his guy (John) at Winter Wyman on my way out the door. I was in John's office later that day, going over my resume, my strengths and my interests. Soon after, we were sorting through a list of opportunities and I was interviewing for multiple positions. John and I were in contact every day discussing them. Exactly two weeks after I was let go, I had the offer in hand for a rewarding job with a leading edge technology company. This was my first time working with anyone at Winter Wyman. I was very impressed with the time and effort invested on my behalf, as well as the thoroughness and candor shown by John. If you are seriously looking to make a move, Winter Wyman is certainly worth the call. read more
