BRING BACK NO NAMES!
I remember a time when 'The Pine' was THE place to be on a Friday night. Locals from around the area would flock here after work to play pool, have a few drinks, listen to bad jukebox tunes, and eat No Names.
For those who are unfamiliar with No Names, I feel sorry for you. The simple, no fuss meals were unbelievably delicious. The chicken parmigiana, topped with simple tomato sauce and cheese singles, and accompanied by a mixed leaf salad, was indescribably perfect considering its simplicity.
But a few years ago, No Names disappeared, and so did the patrons. The Pine in is now a ghost town- I was seriously expecting a tumbleweed to roll by when I had lunch here yesterday.
The Pine now offers a range of $10 meals and blackboard specials. I ordered the chicken parmigiana in an attempt to recreate the glory days of No Names. What arrived on my plate fifteen minutes later was a shambles. I thought they'd even forgotten the chicken, because all I could see was a mountain of cheap-tasting, bottled, tomato sauce. After a few minutes of digging I found a sad looking chicken fillet that seemed too pathetic to ingest. So there it sat, lonely and unloved, just like The Pine itself. read more
