A great little place situated on Burgh Island near Bigbury. Although you can reach the island at low tide on foot, at high tide, the only way (other than wading and getting very wet) across is by using the sea tractor, which is very fun but expensive at £1.50 each way! Still the pub is a perfect place on a sunny day. Outside picnic tables to sit on, with a magnificent view of the coast and good array of beers, ciders and ales on tap. The pub itself is small and cosy and almost feels like you have stepped back in time to a proper smugglers pub.
For the literary types amongst you, this little islands claim to fame is that it has a hotel that agatha christie used to frequent and based one of her books on. read more
