Ringmore is a tiny village in the rolling hills of South Hams, less than a mile from the coast - it's quaint, postcard pretty, and generally very tasteful.
Getting here on foot from Bigbury on Sea or the other villages nearby is usually faster than driving, thanks to a network of public footpaths. So to the pub itself - it's really old with black wood beams, low ceilings and various nooks and crannies to hide it while you eat and drink.
I enjoyed a really good plate of local sausages and mash along with a bottle of Cava and a dreamy yes DREAMY lemon and ginger cheesecake. Lots of reprints of press gang posters and similar from Nelson's time.
I recommend finding the snug to eat in, right by the bar billiards table - the main dining room is nice enough but not special.
Only ding is for the endless loop of a Phil Collins CD - I eventually blocked it out but it would have been good to have better music. read more
