A great little pub just down the way from Bantham beach. The place gets fairly packed with patrons enjoying a pint or bowl of gin and tonic. Space for seating is limited so call ahead of time to reserve a spot.
The food won't disappoint- I ordered a seafood salad as my main and was blown away by the amount of fresh seafood served relative to the tiny amount of salad. Usually this ratio would be reversed in the states. Everything was fresh and well done. I was especially fond of the orangey crab spread on my plate. I don't know what it's called exactly but it included chunks of hardened crab fat. I can't say I have ever seen that served in any other restaurant I have been to, nor is it available at our local seafood stores. My parents usually grab me a jar when they make a trip to the Philippines so The fact that Sloop served this was impressive (to me).
My husband ordered a Toad in a Hole and thought it was tasty but it was heavy so plan for a nap after if that is calling your name.
I can't comment too much on drinks since it was 3pm and we felt a little odd drinking so early in the day. Alcohol also doesn't mix well with those narrow country roads out of Bantham beach. read more
