It's in a sort of industrial warehouse space. Very high ceilings and little sound proofing between the studios. While I was attending the class, I was really bothered by the amount of noise coming from a group of teenage girls who I think were doing aerial yoga in another studio. Really killed the vibe of the vinyasa class especially during the relaxation portion in the last 10 minutes. Also, this studio is very dog friendly, so folks with allergies please note this. Especially in the entry way, there were a couple dogs including one that appears to belong to the owners. Not sure I'd come back here which is not something I say lightly about a yoga studio.

My personal favorite are the aerial classes, which have changed my body in ways that other fitness classes have failed. Jessica challenges and pushes you in every class, but if you are a beginner or have injuries, she modifies the exercises specific to your needs. Also, which is extremely important for me, she changes the classes every time to avoid boredom and so your body doesn't get used to the same movements. Other great pluses are the Rockband class - an hour of nonstop cardio hitting wood blocks with drum sticks and Aerial Cirque d Soleil class - performing aerial acrobatics in the swing. She also coordinates a team for obstacle/running events held locally (i.e. warrior dash, urban raid, inflatable 5K, etc) and has a couple weeks out of the year teaching kids specifically. Overall, the atmosphere at the studio (and owner) is warm, welcoming, fun, and challenging. A MUST studio to check out!

However, there are some common ground In Harmony Yoga has to be a 4 star yoga studio. It's locally owned, offers inexpensive classes, has nice instructors and a reasonable schedule. I have been coming here for Hot Warrior Yoga with my boyfriend for two weeks. Our instructor David, is very nice and attentive, and he also cares about injuries. If you are like my boyfriend, have injured knee or back, David always reminds you alternative poses. Also David emphasis on the breathing techniques as well as the poses, it helps beginners like me a lot.

So while I may not have a good feel for the breadth of this studio's offerings, I certainly have enough experience with the place to share some thoughts. Quick story. For the past few years I've been having some trouble with my back. Nothing serious. Just muscle strain. But my wife was tired of hearing me complain about it, and I was tired of complaining too. Our collective thought was that the stretching and core strengthening of yoga might be just the thing I needed. But I had never done yoga before. And my flexibility was abysmal. Forget about touching my toes, I can barely touch my knees. So my wife found a few local studios that had a gentle yoga class. The Yoga Loft was one of them. And it just so happens that not only did the class fit well into my calendar, this studio just happens to be in the same building as my favorite cheesemonger. Done. And done. So I ran out and bought a yoga mat and some yoga pants. Now I'm doing yoga, and I like it. This class in particular focuses on making sure participants aren't overdoing it. Mary encourages her students to check-in with their bodies periodically, and offers alternatives to the poses just in case things get too intense. I love that. And I love how I feel after each class. I still can't touch my toes. But I think I'm getting closer to my knees. And without a doubt, this class is starting me down a healthier path. Well, at least a path with greater flexibility and maybe core strength. Because the health benefits from the class may be slightly diminished by my lunches at the cheese store next door. Which sometimes include an afternoon beer. Yoga followed by amazing cheese and great beer? That's my kind of exercise program.

I can't believe I am using Yelp as an effort to get this owner to leave me alone once and for all…read more Alas, I wanted so badly to give this a great review. And honestly, based on the (majority) of the workouts (if you can handle all the chatty women and/or CrossFit knockoffs), it's not a bad place. I joined at the recommendation of both my neighbor, and my coworker. I also recommended it to 3 other coworkers. Less than two years later, NONE of us are going anymore (yep--that's SIX people gone). Why? Because not only do you get bombarded constantly with rambling, inappropriate, unhinged emails from the owner, but also because she lacks basic social skills and cues, you will hear all about her never-ending behind-the-scenes drama with various landlords, property managers, other businesses, etc. She completely lacks any insight that her customers don't need a constant stream of what's in her head or her angst, but she does it anyway. And don't even think about giving her feedback on this, because you'll then become the target of said ramblings--I have requested for WEEKS (**she is selectively forgetting her Facebook crazytrain as well as last year when I first told her I was stepping away...how convenient**) she stop contacting me, and I can expect a daily email of her playing dumb and most recently, telling me l "need help" and I "thrive on conflict." (Really? What happened in Burnt Hills, Amanda?) And yet, I'm not the one losing customers to more professional outfits. Go figure....It got so bad, I let my 3 prepaid classes expire, as did my coworker, because we just couldn't deal with being forced to watch The Amanda Show anymore. If you decide to go to Girl Fight be prepared to deal with the thin-skinned drama queen owner who can't seem to put together why she constantly ends up losing business. Seriously--save your money. Buy your own bag and gloves. There are lots of online PROFESSIONAL classes that will give you what you need, without all the hassle.
