Home & garden store, Local Art and Sculpture Gallery, Garden Design studio, Garden and Homeware,…read moreGifts and Plants, First class light refreshment facilities. Situated on an A426 between Rugby and Lutterworth, the calm within is amazing and the wealth of gift ideas and quality goods for home and garden. Visit their website and read about the history of the farm and, in particular the barn itself? It's an education. An absolute must, and my main reason for visiting regularly, is the refreshment area. It really is sublime. There is a small seating area right opposite the counter which, in the colder months, has a log burning fire. There is a larger and very comfortable seating area in an upstairs lounge with mixed seating.sofas, armchairs, tables.another log burning fire which is regularly attended to. Sink into one of the cozy chairs and watch the traffic pass yet at the same time feeling, as if perhaps, you are somewhere else? An impressive array of homemade cakes etc., awaits your attention when you place your order which, even if you choose to take a seat in the upstairs lounge, will be brought to you by a member of the pleasant staff. For a light lunch you may try their delcious homemade soup with a roll? I would be happy to recommend this establishment to my female contacts as a place for the unaccompanied traveller to stop and rest a while in a spotlessly clean and safe environment. Worth a detour!!

4 stars for the trip back in time and the unspoilt uniqueness…read more The picturesque waters known as Anderby Creek can be found between Chapel St. Leonard's and Sutton-on-Sea. This is a quiet beautiful stretch with little to disturb the peace. It is a calm oasis in an otherwise bustling world - a property development restriction is in place, thus preventing the developments which have been known to mar other seaside resorts. Consequently you will not find noisy arcades or nightclubs in Anderby Creek. Located between both Mablethorpe, and Skegness, right off a A52 just past Huttoft heading south. It was badly hit in the 1953 floods but restored. One of the joys of Anderby is its fine stretch of golden sand making it ideal for bathing and for youngsters wishing to try their hand at building sandcastles. The hinterland behind the beach comprises of a patchwork of villages and small towns which are pleasant to explore. Along the cost road there are narrow tracks leading to other beaches which are worth exploring. One called Mogs Eye is really nice. Beware swimming too far out though as currents can be strong and there is no life guard. This is a wonderful walking area with magical coastal views. There is a beachside cafe open during the season, a couple of local pubs, and caravan and chalet parks can be found nearby. The region has several nearby hotels. Home to 5 caravan sites, 1 chalet park, and have a Cafe/Store, (This sells beach stuff and general seaside things plus the cafe does beverages and cheap basic meals) another small store, (they also stock the basics like newspapers, milk, eggs, and bacon throughout the holiday season), and a Public House.think many moons ago..a lost era. What is amazing is one line of beach front houses, that look like city town houses, fine architectural qualities to each one. A huge pipeline now does spoil the beauty of the beaches and there is talk of a windfarm which is being fiercely opposed.

Anderby Creek is lovely. It's quiet, and a completely different beach experience to Skegness,…read moreapproximately 10 miles south. The beach is completely open to dogs between September and March, and partly open to them for the rest of the year, although restricted bits apply. The hamlet is also protected by a preservation order so it's a safe and quiet place to come and relax without all the noise of arcades and fairs.

First stop was Matlock - cute little village, powerful river flowing though town, nice views all around. We wanted to have lunch but hadn't really seen anything and so we decided to head to Bakewell (about 20 minutes drive) when I noticed a classy, inviting, purple sign by the road "The Orangery". We quickly turned around and are so glad that we did! We had a really GREAT lunch and have already booked again for Christmas Eve when our daughter and new husband visit. It may sound odd but it used to be part of a very prestigious school for over a century - the most famous "Old Girl" was Richmal Crompton who wrote all the "William" books that I devoured as a kid. Now the whole complex is basically a old peoples home (Man are they lucky!!). So the lunchgoers were, on average, grey haired (but I am going that way too) - but it was fairly quiet in terms of lunchgoers and music (just the right volume - Christmas songs, Wham and many many more of the favorites. The restaurant drips class, the bistro also (full bar). A wide selection of offerings _ I seriously wanted the prawn curry but got lured into a Christmas special. Wonderful staff, great food, excellent service - and beautiful nooks for a quiet or romantic lunch. Try it you'll like it! Two big thumbs up Review #108 2019

After a disappointing dinner I wanted to ensure our next meal in Nottingham was pleasant,…read moreespecially as was meeting a friend. Luckily it lived up to its reputation. Walking in it was booming and was advised we would have to wait 10 15 minutes for a table which we agreed to do so. We were seated at this end with not a lot of room but the sound of the food made up for that. They offer all your classic brunch food alas they did not have a pulled pork dish so I opted for a salmon benedict on pancakes. My friend had bacon and eggs on potato cakes and my partner chose the pantry dish aka sausage beans, bacon , mushrooms, tomatoes and pancakes oh and a egg of his choosing. To drink I settled on a boozy choc orange shake, others had a flat white and strawberry smoothie. All the drinks were perfectly made albeit I dropped cream all over myself.. but wow the food! Everything was perfectly cooked, seasoned and just full of flavours.. even the baked beans had smoked paprika a other spices to zing it up. The service was also impeccable without an expectant service charge. Overall we would eat here again. Top notch ingredients and just amazing food..
