It's a good Indian. I would recommend and always remember to bring your booze because they only sell soft drinks

Home & garden store, Local Art and Sculpture Gallery, Garden Design studio, Garden and Homeware,…read moreGifts and Plants, First class light refreshment facilities. Situated on an A426 between Rugby and Lutterworth, the calm within is amazing and the wealth of gift ideas and quality goods for home and garden. Visit their website and read about the history of the farm and, in particular the barn itself? It's an education. An absolute must, and my main reason for visiting regularly, is the refreshment area. It really is sublime. There is a small seating area right opposite the counter which, in the colder months, has a log burning fire. There is a larger and very comfortable seating area in an upstairs lounge with mixed seating.sofas, armchairs, tables.another log burning fire which is regularly attended to. Sink into one of the cozy chairs and watch the traffic pass yet at the same time feeling, as if perhaps, you are somewhere else? An impressive array of homemade cakes etc., awaits your attention when you place your order which, even if you choose to take a seat in the upstairs lounge, will be brought to you by a member of the pleasant staff. For a light lunch you may try their delcious homemade soup with a roll? I would be happy to recommend this establishment to my female contacts as a place for the unaccompanied traveller to stop and rest a while in a spotlessly clean and safe environment. Worth a detour!!

The Big Comfy Bookshop - Folk music at the bookshop

Cute, quaint, quirky, cosy and homely little bookstore-come-cafe (:…read more It's average opening hours are 11-6 during which time you can grab a slice of cake, tea, coffee etc, have a peruse through some books, and chill on their big comfy sofa! I find a lot of coffee places just don't really want you stay and they have hard, uncomfy furniture to reflect that. But not here! This place often has events that extend its opening hours, too. My favourite is the 'big comfy folk club' which are folk and acoustic sessions hosted on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month. Next one is on 4th March and tickets are only a fiver! Brilliant intimate venue, and the performers usually stick around for a while afterwards which is nice (: OH ALSO, WINE! The big comfy book shop serves alcohol! Live music + book shop + cake + red wine = total winner. See you on the 4th!

I really like The Big Comfy Bookshop!…read more It is a quant used book shop that is family owned. The owner spent over a year compiling books to open his shop, and ever since has kept a good variety of books that are unique to customers, or a popular search result of a used book. There is always fresh coffee, tea options, beer and wine, and some sort of snacks like crisps or cake for sale. Seating is available to hang out with friends for a little while or to start tucking into your future purchase. Also I noticed that live folk music nights and game nights regularly occur here too! Great place!

This is the Best Bookshop and Coffee shop in Newark without any doubts whatsoever…read more What it also does, and does really well is Tapas on Friday and Saturday nights with live Jazz. The Coffee shop is the place to be seen in Newark, it is tied to the bookshop which is family run and very comprehensive and has a lot of stuff which is locally relevant as well as a huge amount for Kids. The Menu during the Daytime - A large selection of Coffees done to order which are sourced and prepared by Strays. as well as Tea, Fresh Orange and bottled juices and soft drinks, A large selection of Home made cakes and sweets, Panini's, Sandwiches, Baked Potatoes and Savouries, There are a wide variety of seating areas, in the adjoining building, in the small covered yard area, in the transitory area to the bookshop as well as next to the entrance and at the back. There is always Jazz music playing and the Walls are themed with Jazz Prints, there are also leaflets advertising the Tapas and Jazz evenings and other local events, as well as books featuring work by local artists. The Cafe is the Hub of the Newark Jazz Festival and regularly hosts acts as part of the festival, some of which are pictured on the walls. Be warned, this place is always busy, and you have to queue once you have found somewhere to sit, your food and coffee is then brought to your table when ready. Whilst it is busy it still retains a slick classy feel, the staff care about their jobs and having met the owners, I know that they care about this business. I will quickly review the Tapas, Brilliant very Bijoux limited seating so it feels really intimate and really special, you really do need to try it, especially when our table which was added as a late request was right next to the Band who were brilliant and we stayed until they kicked us out. The Chef is a revelation, the attention to detail by the owner, even sourcing Cruz Campo beer rather than supermarket San Miguel made it all the more special.
