The trio playing was enjoyable playing a lot of classics most would know. Good music for conversation. The sound system was a bit distorted, so that did detract unintentionally from the band. As far as food goes, they brought the appetizer out after the tacos, and my main seemed to have gotten a bit lost. Ideally the kitchen would have delivered both mains at the same time. So Hubs ate his, then we ate our appetizer...and then I ate my main. Not ideal but pretty tasty. The brussel sprout dish was quite delicious, but a slightly lighter hand on the sauce would improve it. Pulled pork tacos were enjoyed by Hubs. I enjoyed my fish tacos and my duck taco. Here's what I received: two HARD poached eggs on shaved ham with just a very small amount of Hollandaise sauce and a very small side salad that could not under any circumstances be mistaken for an enhanced salad in place of home or any fries. A tiny amount of Hollandaise sauce, and served on a slice of sourdough bread, not on Classic English muffin halves Now for those who might be unfamiliar with what goes into a genuine classic eggs Benny, it consists of 3 poached eggs, not 2,0 (cooked to your preference of done-ness, served on a slice of ham over two English muffin halves and smothered in Hollandaise sauce. Before getting into the price problems, let's agree to rename what I got as an "Earls' Benny" because it is far from the above- described "Classic". After I told the host staffer who came around to provide interim service, he helpfully offered to bring around a third egg and more Hollandaise. I thought that was pretty nice until I saw the additional price later. The third egg was so well done it was next to hard boiled. I was billed an additional $3.00 for it. The extra Hollandaise also cost an additional $3.00, which was an especially unwelcome charge since it came because I told that server that I had expeted my Benny to be swimming in Hollandaise instead of just accompaied by a small dash of it. Strangely, his rationale for the small amount in the original serving was that generally their clients didn't like Hollandaise so they deliberately held back. (My private disbelief in this statement arises from Hollandaise indisputedly being a key ingredient in the dish. Wouldnt you agree?) In addition to the additional unwelcome charge of $6.00 for the (normally included third egg and generous Hollandaise), I happened also to additionally order toast to go with my after-bunch coffee. In any other dine-in restaurant I have attended this order would have been met with two slices of one's choice of toast, buttered. On this day at Earls Sherway I received only one piece of the only kind they had: sourdough toast (which was quite good, by the way), and when I said that I was expecting a normal two slice portion, the additional single slice was delivered........ for an unexpexted additional $2.50 for it. No kidding! So fellow diners, here's my caveat to you if you intend to attend Earls Sherway for brunch and especially for eggs Benny on ham. 1. Do not expect English muffins under your Earls' Benny. 2. Be absolutely, loudly, and critically expressive of how you want your eggs done. 3. Try to avoid an extra charge for Hollandaise by expressing how you like your Benny served. (By the way, the Hollandaise I received was unlike what I'm accustomed to. I suspect that it was not created at the restaurant but was instead made with a mix, or spooned from a jar. Just my own suspicion.) 4. And lastly, check if there will be an additional charge for any part of your order that you may innocently be unsuspecting just because you think it should ordinarily exist. The waitress was attentive and quick with the service although we and several other visitors were kept waiting at least ten minutes for a host to seat us when suddenly three showed up siultaneously. The wait to be seated was uncomfortable although we could see the restaurant was mainly empty.

The historic restaurant used to be an inn, now there are lots of seating with separate indoor dining areas and a lovely outdoor patio upstairs. They also have a pub downstairs with more outdoor seating. You can see a nice view of the corner street, pub outdoor seating, and the railway from the upstairs patio. We were fortunate to have a very kind and attentive server that evening. His well mannered service added to the pleasant dining experience. We ordered the Wild Mushroom salad, Herb Crusted Ontario Rack of Lambs ($59) and Chilean Sea Bass ($58). The lamb and sea bass were cooked exactly how we expected, with the sea bass especially crispy outside and soft inside. We felt the dishes were a bit pricey and could be improved like the sauce texture but overall there was plentiful portions and delicious. We enjoyed the Sea Bass and the dish's complement to it, so recommended if you want to splurge a lil! (They do have other variety on the menu to choose from.) I wanted a beyond meat burger and fries to go as I know some Gabby's carry it and she didn't even know what that was OR if they had it. My plan was to sit on the patio and enjoy a cold beer after a long hot day while waiting for my takeout, but she ruined that experience for me. I left without ordering any food or ordering the cold drink I've been looking for for months. I understand people have bad days, but if you do, STAY HOME. When you work in customer service, when you're hired, you commit to provide the best care and service because customers literally pay your bills. Considering many places have gone out of business due to covid, experiencing this type of behaviour is unfathomable and inexcusable in ANY circumstance. The woman was fairly pleasant to a man that was already having a beer so she was clearly capable of doing her job with a smile on her face, even a fake one. I feel discriminated against.
