This review is quite overdue, but in some ways it gives perspective on the quality of the used Kawai purchased from Garron almost 4 years ago and I have to say it the quality was excellent from the beginning even up till now. I was very impressed with Garron's passion and knowledge of music and the piano and the whole music industry itself and I did not feel like I was working with a used car sales person which I felt like at some other sellers. I highly recommend going to Garron for any of your Piano needs and I hope him and his business is around when I eventually plan to upgrade to a baby grand. On visits to pretty much every piano store in town I kept marveling at the superior tone and touch of the Yamaha U series. And then kept reminding myself that I couldn't afford that model and then kept torturing myself by sitting down with it anyway. Finally it hit me: buy a USED U. As one guy said, "Pianos age better than people." Piano Warehouse has the best selection of used Yamaha pianos in Greater L.A. Garron explained that a lot of them are shipped over from Japan where apparently there isn't a market for used anything. He knows the importer and gets first dibs on whatever comes in. Out of six or seven used U models, I chose a 1988 Yamaha UX - a cut above the standard U and with an even richer, mellower tone. Looks and sounds brand new and cost about 75 percent less than a new one. You get a free bench, free delivery (though I did have to pay for a flight of stairs) and a free tuning (within 3 months) by a super nice guy. Thanks Garron! NOTE: This store is by APPOINTMENT ONLY.
