Franco is the guy you are looking for. A master of his field, a nice human being, and reasonable rates.

A true perfectionistic master of what he does. The best and the only one I would trust with my piano. I can't believe how great it sounds now. read more

Franco did a magnificent total restoration of my 1919 Steinway Model O, returning it to its former glory. I was a concert pianist in my youth, and my mother purchased this piano for me in 1996. The instrument had been neglected over the years and, when I brought it to Franco, it was in an unplayable state. Franco is amazing at what he does and has an incredible breadth of knowledge and skill. He kept me very informed throughout the process and always provided thorough explanations for his recommendations. Franco's passion for his work is contagious. He's a straight-shooter and a pleasure to work with. The piano is home with me and I couldn't be happier. The instrument is a wonderful tribute to my mother's generosity and love and will be with my family for generations to come. read more

Precision Piano Services - 1919 Model O Steinway restored by Franco Skilan - Piano Services Near Me - North Hollywood, California

Not only is Franco fantastic and extremely experienced at what he does... with the particular piano that I was gifted... let's say it had some "quirks"! Franco was dedicated to getting this piano in a much better place than it arrived in (aka tuned and playable)! That included coming back the next day to make sure that it's playability was in the best shape it could be for a 1915 Pleyel piano that had been "well loved" over the years between two countries/continents and a number of cities along the way! He goes above and beyond, is amazing at what he does and is a genuinely nice guy... what more could you want!?! read more

Absolutely EXCEPTIONAL!!!!!!! If you are looking to have a piano restored then look no further than Franco Skilan of Precision Piano Services. Franco has been doing this for 45+ years, he started with his father at the age of 8! It absolutely shows in the work, I can absolutely attest to that. We had a 1903 M. Schulz & Co. piano fully restored including a new soundboard. It is a very special piece to our family as it belonged to my beloved grandfather. Sure I could have went out and bought a Steinway but it would never compare. Franco took a 122 year old piano and brought it back to life. My grandfather sat at this piano for prob 1-2 hours a day for 70+ years. To put it lightly, he beat the thing up. Thanks to Franco, I absolutely know that this piano will live another 122 years! Thank you so much Franco, you love your work and it absolutely shows! You are the best in the business! read more

I could not be happier with the restoration work Franco did on our 1904 Steinway Model O. He took our pretty beat up but beloved family heirloom piano that had a beautiful art case but otherwise was filthy and in need of a new soundboard and action. He restored it to a gorgeous sounding instrument, and thanks to his partners who were expert in doing the work, a beautiful piece of furniture. I've been playing it regularly for a year and it has held up very well. It has never sounded or looked better. The service did take some months, but this was not unexpected. He was great at keeping us informed about the progress. Plus, it was a pleasure to visit his shop, talk about the work, and see the innards of piano restoration work. If you love pianos, this is fun stuff. Franco is honest and straightforward about the work, the piano technology choices, and so on. I highly recommend Precision Piano Services. read more

I never post reviews but I had to take to time to do so for this business. I was nervous about trusting someone to renovate our 1909 Steinway, especially since it had never really had the care that it had needed. Franco quickly put my mind at ease, outlining several options that we could take with varying costs and outcomes. Ultimately, we went with the complete renovation and Franco and team did an amazing job. The finished product looks and sounds perfect, and the piano is now the most beautiful object in our house. I had never dreamed someone could bring it back to life with such expertise and flair. read more

Franco did an amazing job installing a Pianodisc Prodigy player system on my Yamaha C-3 grand piano. His professionalism and experience are unmatched. He also improved the sound of my piano by replacing my worn out bass strings and tuned it to concert pitch. In addition, he restored the outside finish to its original condition. I feel like I have a brand new piano! Thank you Franco for your superb work! read more

This is single best piano restoration house in SoCal. Period. Honest as the day is long. Super competant. Unbelieveable track record -- I work at a piano store and I've seen literally dozens of their restorations come in, all uniformly flawless. I have first hand experience, as well. They just completed work on my 1939 Steinway. If I trust them with my own piano, well... you get the picture. read more

My wife and I had our 1917 Steinway Grand Piano restored by Precision Piano Services. I sent it to them right after buying it, and Franco went through everything on the piano, showing us what was both good and what it needed to be fixed in order to bring the instrument up to its full potential. He gave us a very informative and honest appraisal. After we agreed on what should be done, he encouraged us to visit at anytime to see the work that was being accomplished. When we got the piano back, the difference was amazing. When we think of "Old world craftsmanship" this company comes to mind. The care and skill that Franco and his father as well as the other members of their team put into their work definitely shows in every detail that they do. Their work was meticulous, and we now understand why they call themselves "Precision Piano Services" These people know their craft. My wife and I also wanted to have a Piano Disc installed after the restoration, so that we could thoroughly enjoy it, even when we were not playing it. Best decision we ever made. It is so great to have something so high tech married to an instrument that is almost 100 years old. We use it almost every day. It is like having our own virtuoso playing at our dinner parties. With the new IQ system (controlled through our ipad) everything is hidden. We recommend Precision Piano Service without reservation. read more

Our 1925 Steinway was suffering the wear and tear of age, and it also received damage during storage after a house flood. Franco had done work for a friend, who recommended him highly. I can only echo my friend's comments along with those of the previous reviewers. From first assessment to final delivery, I could not have been more pleased. Franco is honest, pleasant, and a master at what he does; he returned our piano in glorious condition. And while this process is neither quick nor cheap, he did offer us options that could have reduced the price significantly. In the end, we took the high (and most expensive) road, and we're extremely glad we did. read more

Franco did quite a bit of work on my 1906 Steinway A a couple of years ago, including installing a PianoDisc system. I have been terribly derelict in not posting this review until now, but better late than never! I just want to thank Franco for the wonderful work he did. The regulation was fantastic and the PianoDisc system he recommended was perfect for my needs. I'm a professional musician and have high expectations, and was fully satisfied with every aspect of the experience. Franco delivered the job on budget and before time. He was great to deal with personally. I can't say enough great things about Franco and Precision Piano Services! read more

Franco, recently performed a complete re-work of our 104-year-old Steinway, and it's never sounded better. He is very professional, easy to work with, and has high standards for his work. Don't expect it to be cheap, but I thought he charged us a very reasonable price. read more
