My wife went to Rustic Roots in Sedro Woolley to get her hair colored. This was a treat for…read moreherself, and she was so excited. Her stylist "Cotori" was new, and what followed warranted this one star review. Citori left the toner in for 20 minutes with my wife's head in a bowl. Uncomfortable best describes that portion of experience not to mention this error extinguished the highlights all together. What a colossal screw up. Next, after being warned by my wife that her hair is already thin and fragile, and it was once caught in a drain by another stylist a few years back at a salon in Edmonds, Citori assured my wife that wouldn't happen. Over the far too long, 3.5 hour appointment that dragged on, Citori did I fact anage to Knott my wife's hair and had to cut out a huge chunk of it which was devastating ti my wife. This visit resulted in loss of hair and no difference in color to the tune of $155.00. Worst of all, my wife contacted the salon owner Heather Middleton who said she was unable to provide a refund and suggested my wife return for another re-coloring. This should have never been offered because recoloring right after a recoloring treatment would have damaged her hair further. When my wife questioned Middleton about this offer to recolor, she agreed it was tii early to do that. After offering a conditioning treatment, Middleton stopped all further communication. Middleton should have refunded my wife, no questions asked. Instead, she excused her obligation to do the right thing by saying the stylists are independent. That should have had no bearing on the decision to refund. For that poor customer service decision, she gets this horrible review.

I unfortunately did not have a good experience with my massage at Pure Skin. I booked what I…read morethought would be a relaxation massage with medium pressure, but the therapist specialized in fascia massage, which was not communicated to me beforehand. The session involved a lot of very light pressure and holding pressure points, which was not the type of massage I was looking for. I was hoping for a traditional relaxation massage and felt disappointed that this was not clarified before the appointment. I also let the therapist know that I do not like having my calves or stomach massaged. When I expressed this, she pushed back and explained that she needed to work on those areas and that I could decide after the session if I liked it. Even after I repeated that I did not like those areas being worked on, she continued to return to them. She also offered to incorporate CBD lotion, which she said might help. I agreed, but later found out it added an additional $25 charge that was never mentioned beforehand. After the session she also suggested that energy work might be good for me in the future. I explained that energy work has never been helpful for me, but she responded that I had simply never experienced her energy work -- similar to how she insisted I would benefit from the calf and stomach work. Overall, I felt like my preferences and boundaries were not really listened to. I simply wanted a straightforward relaxation massage with medium pressure. Because of this experience, I would not return.

I do my dermaplaning and my facial (both) with her and it is so professional and highly skilled and uses the most top notch products (Eminence) the ones I used to get in Scottsdale. I'm new to waxing, so at first I wasn't sure whether what happened was normal, but after talking with my wife afterward, it sounds like it was not. During my first visit, after the waxing was completed, my back was wiped down and some type of soothing cream was applied. This time, the moment the final strip was removed, the technician immediately walked out saying, "I'll see you at the front." There was no cleanup, no wipe down, and no aftercare product applied at all. I had to put my shirt back on over a raw, sticky back, which was pretty uncomfortable. Additionally, the wax/oil felt significantly hotter than during my first appointment. For a service that ends up costing around $100 with tip, I expected a bit more of a spa-like experience and consistency. To be fair, this place receives very good reviews overall, so maybe this was just an off experience. I even wondered afterward if I had somehow offended the esthetician, though I can't imagine how since I'm not much of a talker. They seemed perfectly fine when checking me out and even scheduled me for another appointment in 4 weeks, so I'm honestly just trying to make sense of the difference between visits. Unfortunately, this experience was enough that I won't be returning.

The products are high end. The attention to detail doesn't overwhelm the experience but it enhances the ability to do nothing but be yourself. 90 min facial and foot scrub felt like a reset. I wish I lived closer. I will definitely be coming back. And- with friends. Because this place could handle a bunch of school counselors with deep giggles and high schooler jokes.
